I worked with a deck that had 3 different master sets and I ended up with a simple 5 slide deck that was huge, cleaning out unused designs shrink things dramatically. It pays to check. Great video, thank you.

Thanks. You can also use the New window option in another way... when working on a detailed slide, in one window zoom in. In the other window, keep the same slide open with 100% visible. That way you can see the intricate detail as well as the detailed design in parallel. Works best with dual monitors.

Thanks @deborahcharych4490. Here are the answers: 1. Yes this is the reason for confused slide numbers. 2. Sure. There could be genuine reasons why you want to retain multiple layouts. For example, when you have slides for two distinct topics or from two different sources. 3. Incorporate new layout from Designer into existing slides: Select the old slides. Design tab - Open the dropdown of available Designs. In the list shown, there is a separate section for This Presentation. The new design that came from Designer will be shown there. DO NOT click on it. RIGHT CLICK on that design and choose Apply to Selected Slides. The pro tip is useful. Now I can use slide master wisely.
Thanks. You can also use the New window option in another way... when working on a detailed slide, in one window zoom in. In the other window, keep the same slide open with 100% visible. That way you can see the intricate detail as well as the detailed design in parallel. Works best with dual monitors.

One more please. If we use Design and like layout of newly generated slide, how to incorporate into existing layout?

Here are the answers:
1. Yes this is the reason for confused slide numbers.
2. Sure. There could be genuine reasons why you want to retain multiple layouts.
For example, when you have slides for two distinct topics or from two different sources.
3. Incorporate new layout from Designer into existing slides:
Select the old slides. Design tab - Open the dropdown of available Designs.
In the list shown, there is a separate section for This Presentation.
The new design that came from Designer will be shown there. DO NOT click on it.
RIGHT CLICK on that design and choose Apply to Selected Slides.
