You could scour the entire earth and never, ever find another singer as gifted and talented as Ms Aretha Franklin. What a grand lady she was. Rest In Eternal Peace Queen
Not true. Even Whitney said she had the best voice of all time !!! They were very close. Whitney's mom was a back up singer of the great Aretha Franklin .
Your all can have your opinions but this brilliant musical genius has done more career paving and has set tone in every genre of music. One thing you must understand about Aretha is her story. Imagine loosing your Dad who told you that you would sing before kings, queens, and presidents then judge the emotional state of this artist who went on to be greatness without being able to share such moments with her dad who motivated her to be Queen of soul... then talk about the performance!!!
just a small rebuttal, I'm not sure your time period for witch you base this statement on; while it sounds good, this sound bite isn't factual!. Aretha and her dad where able to spend time together when she became a great gospel singer. it was only when she decided to sing non-gospel did her father give her the blues and silent treatment, however when she started GIVEN HIM MONEY for his church, he seemed to hear the voice of god tell him speak to Aretha, and that was to say 'I NEED MORE MONEY'. She'll never do it, but I wish she'll write a tell all trilogy; 'life with ARETHA before started recording gospel', life with Aretha after started recording gospel, and life with Aretha Franklin after beginning singing secular music.
Sir I'm a genuine fan who been to concerts where she states that her father said she would perform for kings queens and presidents. She became emotional and it's always this song or impossible dream where she would make this comment. It's a performance on here where she sings impossible dream and you will understand where I'm coming from. I just asked that people respect who she is and what impact she has made in music. All the bickering bs save for fb
She was a magnificent person and performer. I grew up loving her, and now as an older lady, I realize how much talent she has always possessed. Such an inspiration to young singers, such a lady. I still play those old soul music records and reminisce.
In my life I have heard many singers live including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee, Judy Collins, Joan Baez, Bette Midler, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Sutherland, Maria Callas and many others in many genres. One of my finest memories is a concert that Aretha Franklin did in Milwaukee. She had the power to make you feel she was singing just for you even in an outdoor stadium with an audience of 60,000.
Every once in a time, there comes an artist with such amazing talent that opens the curtain to heaven and touches the souls of all who are blessed to hear them. Aretha is such a talent. God Bless her. Amen
A Voice from out of this world! A Voice without compare! A Voice who makes the Difference! A Voice with the power to change things! A Voice for the ages! A Voice to never forget!
Aretha and Susan Boyle are the only two who can sing this song and move me to tears! Ooh, if they could've done a duet, that would've been so amazing! R.I.P., Queen!
@A Aretha is no doubt a legend, but her voice is NOT suited to this song, and this was a TERRIBLE rendition. I stand by my assessment, and the only one who is crying here is you, sweetie. Get lost? HECK NO!! Now whatcha gonna do!? 😎
This was a PERFORMANCE, top to bottom. She made an entrance; her performance had movement; there were subtle costume changes; musically, it had a beginning, middle, and end; she controlled the pace and measured her volume according to the lyrics; it decrescendo and crescendos. It had modulations, melismas, and runs. Masterful.
~ Today, we lost an angel, while heaven gained a Queen. All hail, The Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin 1942-2018. May you rest peace beautiful lady!. The world is missing you. xx
Perfect Shape???🤔I wonder what PETA thinks about the real fur on that coat?🤔Aretha was known for her Real Fur coats she had several this is one of her finest.
Aretha brings it on to ANY song in her own way. She's also the only person on Earth I forgive for wearing real animal fur. She's too formidable to say no to!
Not sure if this is an excuse for the fur, but.... It was reported by a close friend that worked for Aretha on CNN that Miss Franklin was very protective of her voice and didn't perform in air conditioned venues. Before entering the room or stage ,Aretha would stick her arm in the crack of a opened door. If she felt A.C., she wouldn't go in until it was cut off. One talk show host said ' I guess we can sweat for a while to hear Aretha sing.'So , maybe the fur coats helped keep her warm. Just my thoughts.
Fantastic performance! Exactly what we need to listen in this time. "I have a dream" She is the voice for all of us, all over the world. I dont believe in politic, Putin, Trumph, Hitler, democracy has never been so fragile. But in the voice of Aretha there is hope❤👍
Sing Queen!! She did what she always does and that's give her own interpretation of a song. If you do not like or understand it then move on.. Oh and Aretha NEVER does anything emotionless!
We should have known this was going to epic before it happened. She was at her height of heights this night. A command performance, quite literally, fit for a queen.
I'm very pleased to know I'm not the only one that loves her songs, how often do you like to listening to her songs. She remains the Queen of soul, a great artist, with lovely voice. RIP Legend.
We've lost an American Treasure. But I'm not going to be sad. She wouldn't want it that. May You Rest in Peace Mrs Franklin. Thank you for being in my life all these years.
Aretha Franklin will go down in the history of American music as one of the greatest black vioces of her time yet one of the most under-recognised singer, entertainer, performer of her time. That fine woman had a voice with power and style that was uniquely Aretha Franklin. R I P Babe.

New year, 2020, new decade ... still listening to the greatest of ALL TIME , my home town Queen, Aretha
Mine too
Great star Aretha.
Coroavirus and all! Still listening!! 2020❤️
Well said. A magical voice
I've been privileged to see many of the true female greats, Whitney, Tina, Nina, Dusty, but the two that Ive seen individually, that would have been mesmerising to see together were Aretha and Mama Africa, Miriam Makeba..
she just changed one sentence and the song suddenly means something completely different. the way she sang, that's power
I'm very pleased to know I'm not the only one that loves her songs, how often do you like to listening to her songs. She remains the Queen of soul, a great artist, with lovely voice. RIP Legend.
God has given only a few with an Amazing voice...and Aretha is One!
Yes, Barbra Streissand, Ella Fitsgerald, Edith Piaff, Nina, Mireille Mathieu, Alla Pugachova, Rocío Durcal, Paloma San Basilio,
Awesome. Her title QUEEN OF SOUL is befitting.
No gimmicks, no nudity-just the Queen standing flat-footed and singing.
Agree, when you can sing no gimmicks and/or nudity is needed.
Sarah Sparks ⚡️❤️ Miss her
Flat-footed in those heels!
I think that about Adele too. And Pavarotti. The greatest voices need no gimmicks. They just open their mouths and we listen.
Totally agree, doesn't have be naked to be a talented star, just let's the singing do the talking!
Young ladies take note.
She could sing anything with her beautiful, soulful voice.
You could scour the entire earth and never, ever find another singer as gifted and talented as Ms Aretha Franklin.
What a grand lady she was.
Rest In Eternal Peace Queen
Whitney Houston was more gifted and talented and never screamed in her vocal performances .
Not true. Even Whitney said she had the best voice of all time !!! They were very close. Whitney's mom was a back up singer of the great Aretha Franklin .
@@RosemaryCunningham-mu2bd Yes true.
NOT TRUE!!!!
Do you know Barbra Streissand? She's from another realm!
Will miss you forever, Aretha. Now you will sing in heaven's choir.
Hello Barbara, it’s absolutely a beautiful song with memories... hopefully you’re having a pleasant time?
Ms. Franklin & Steve Wonder are the 2 greatest living artist in this world. I thank God we have them.
🙏
Why they happened to be blacks?
Your all can have your opinions but this brilliant musical genius has done more career paving and has set tone in every genre of music. One thing you must understand about Aretha is her story. Imagine loosing your Dad who told you that you would sing before kings, queens, and presidents then judge the emotional state of this artist who went on to be greatness without being able to share such moments with her dad who motivated her to be Queen of soul... then talk about the performance!!!
+malcolm hampton amazing comment:( made me cry lol
just a small rebuttal, I'm not sure your time period for witch you base this statement on; while it sounds good, this sound bite isn't factual!.

So do I ! am 75
She was a bitch to everyone around her, though
In my life I have heard many singers live including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee, Judy Collins, Joan Baez, Bette Midler, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Sutherland, Maria Callas and many others in many genres. One of my finest memories is a concert that Aretha Franklin did in Milwaukee. She had the power to make you feel she was singing just for you even in an outdoor stadium with an audience of 60,000.
The queen of soul for ever and ever, amen.
Every once in a time, there comes an artist with such amazing talent that opens the curtain to heaven and touches the souls of all who are blessed to hear them. Aretha is such a talent. God Bless her. Amen
Beautifully said
Say no more
Aretha looked BEAUTIFUL here!!! every thing under control !!!!!
Kudos to the hairstylist and wardrobe staff! Now that is how it should be done!
There are people that can sing beautifully. There are people like her that plain SANG. When they do the room go silent. RIP
The Graced Voice of Ms. Aretha Franklin is America's Gift from God to The Global Community at Large !!!
A Voice from out of this world!
A Voice without compare!
A Voice who makes the Difference!
A Voice with the power to change things!
A Voice for the ages!
A Voice to never forget!
She is The First... 👏👏
I think Whitney would have done a better job
there never will be an artist like this
Hello uwe... Have you heard about bitcoin and binary investment before.?
🌞Aretha did have a God-given voice & could always take a song & make it her own...rest in peace ‘queen of soul’🕊
I agree
Hello cordelya, it’s absolutely a beautiful song with memories... hopefully you’re having a pleasant time?
She came out of the church. Mahalia Jackson & Sister Rosetta Tharpe broke ground for everyone else to to travel on.......
Aretha and Susan Boyle are the only two who can sing this song and move me to tears! Ooh, if they could've done a duet, that would've been so amazing! R.I.P., Queen!
travis7310 amazing! You are right...
Wow I never thought of that that would have been so amazing if they would have done to do it together
Perhaps they are 😇😇
Agree. I am crying now. Never realized how great she was. Amazing.
Susan Boyle is still alive, so no.
And what a gorgeous dress! Aretha looks great in yellow with diamonds and pearls!
Hello Catherine.... How are you doing today.... 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
And I hope you do stay safe due to the pandemic over there.?
Will never understand how people can put the thumbs down on this talent. She is an absolute goddess. Just wow.
Because even legends can make mistakes and this was terrible!
@A Aretha is no doubt a legend, but her voice is NOT suited to this song, and this was a TERRIBLE rendition. I stand by my assessment, and the only one who is crying here is you, sweetie. Get lost? HECK NO!! Now whatcha gonna do!? 😎
Your a terrible rendition👎🏽
Undoubtedly the greatest singer of all time.
Masterful.
The cut to Clinton at 1:16 is both full of hope at the time and disappointing seeing how his presidency went.
What an artist! What a woman! Dear Aretha we will miss you. The world is a sadder place with out you.

I'm 62 and I pray there's never a day her music doesn't bring me to tears!
Me, too....
Its ok to Cry❤❤❤
BEST dress I have ever seen her in. WHoever dressed her for this performance should have always been her designer- Perfect for her body shape
Perfect Shape???🤔I wonder what PETA thinks about the real fur on that coat?🤔Aretha was known for her Real Fur coats she had several this is one of her finest.
Wes Wesley A Bob Mackie Original
No other person had a profound feeling done in every song!!! Aretha you are gone but never forgotten!
Hello Jaime.... Have you heard about bitcoin and binary investment before.?
It’s silly how ridiculously phenomenal she is….
Oh man - she is really committed to her performance
Yes...A world without Aretha......r.i.p. my love.
God bless her... She certainly blessed me.💞
She’s not dead.
@@pastormary55 why do you say that. I am curious...to why?
And she was around wearing her furs way before PETA.
Ikr, That so sweet of you to say.
Fantastic performance! Exactly what we need to listen in this time. "I have a dream" She is the voice for all of us, all over the world. I dont believe in politic, Putin, Trumph, Hitler, democracy has never been so fragile. But in the voice of Aretha there is hope❤👍
I always liked Aretha Franklin's music, but I never knew what an incredible voice she had until I heard her sing this. Simply beautiful.
Sing Queen!! She did what she always does and that's give her own interpretation of a song. If you do not like or understand it then move on.. Oh and Aretha NEVER does anything emotionless!
exactly, I liked this performance.
M Williams rip the qreen I love you
We should have known this was going to epic before it happened. She was at her height of heights this night. A command performance, quite literally, fit for a queen.
This is such a glorious performance from the Queen of Soul.
If there ever was an inter-galactic singing contest, Aretha would have had to been the one to represent Earth!
Stay close to each other...love on each other everyday. We need each other! Especially now
Aretha Franklin will go down in the history of American music as one of the greatest black vioces of her time yet one of the most under-recognised singer, entertainer, performer of her time. That fine woman had a voice with power and style that was uniquely Aretha Franklin. R I P Babe.
