It does my heart good to see how much you’ve done because of AJ. Anyone can have a dog, but some of us treat them as part of the family. I’ve even been criticised by family members for always putting the dogs first. I used to have 4, so that was a lot of priorities before mine. I’m down to 2 now and I love the bones of them even though they are pains in the neck at times. AJ is a lucky fella. The van looks lovely.
I totally agree. I've just lost my boy at the age of 15 and I'm heartbroken. He wasn't a dog, he was my world, a complete legend..he was my dads dog and I adopted him when my dad passed away...and he gave me so many years of love and got me through lockdowns. I was so sad that he never got to go with me in my van. The very day my van was finished he passed away. 😪
@@veestar9837 exactly same situation my mum passed 3 years ago and we took on her dog along with our 2 and sadly had to have him pts 2 weeks ago, he was 15. He loved coming away in the van and our journey next week will be difficult without him. Pets are family.

Instead of a hinged retainer on the toilet cupboard door how about either a sliding latch on the inside of the door or more simple a chain with a decent magnet to attach to the steel of the van door frame, this could be made rattle free for transit by having a small steel 'home' plate on the inside of the door.
My little Yorkie had luxating patella and cruciate ligament repair June 2021. What a nightmare! We were pretty much house bound from mid June to first week of November, such a long rehab for that particular surgery. Love AJ's den, so cosy, and it's easy to grasp why it was necessary. The things we do for our four legged family members... Can't wait four you two to stock the snack cupboard and hit the road. Fanny looks awesome! Safe travels!

Looks spot on. A dog's primal instinct is to have a bed somewhere that's protected on as many sides as possible so nothing can "sneak up on them" from behind and AJ's den achieves that perfectly. Just had to make similar changes in my Land Rover. My spaniel, Ollie, is getting on a bit but he still insists on jumping straight off the rear seat when I open the door and I was worried he was going to hurt himself. I've ended up taking the rear seats out completely so the dogs can lie on the floor, which means he can get in and out much more easily. I dunno if people think it's nuts to do these things to cater for a pet but anybody who has a dog wouldn't think twice about doing whatever is necessary to make life easy for them.

An idea for you new cupboard door to block to doorway to prevent AJ escaping is make the cupboard door into a double skinned door. Use piano hinge and when you open it..it will fold out and fill the gap.

It's all about the pets as far as I am concerned and you have put a lot of thought into that. Cats will always try (and win) to sleep on the bed, no point in trying to do anything else. I can't find any new words to describe how outstanding and brilliant you are at everything and thank you, I have learnt a new word about fanny dressing as well.
