I can't tell much from the white mix samples. It would need to be closer to exact amounts. The MH and Rembrandt seem to have the richest pigmentations. Surprised at how well Blick's brand held up.

Nice Video! I was very surprised that Winton looks so bad :( It would be interesting to use the same white for all of them to see if the white is the one making the difference or is the Ultramarine paint! From my experience white is the one making the most difference, especially if you use zinc/ titanium zinc/ titanium.

That would be pretty interesting to test all those with each white. Yah I was surprised with the Winton too! I got a big tube of it to use =D

I'd be interested in how different brands of "Cad- Yellow Medium" appear in this type of comparison...

winton is the lesser grade WN, so will not have as much pigment as their main line color, in actual use depends on what you are doing, may not make a difference.

    Hello!
Have you ever experienced "white mist" on the surface / "blooming" / "efflorescence" in any older paintings (5+ years) made with Talens' "Van Gogh" oil paint ?
I am seeking opinions on the "Van Gogh" line of oil paints, because they are basically my only option for oil paint, in my Eastern European country, in the last two years.
Are they good enough, to use a shade or two (Van Gogh "permanent red" PR254 and Van Gogh "quinacridone rose" PV19), in a professional, commissioned context?
    Thank you!

Sorry I couldn't tell you. I'm no professional. Plus I don't really have any paintings-_-

You have so much paint!😂 so which is the one do you like the best and which would you say is the best value regarding pigment load?

I would have to say the Georgian. I'm not totally sure how to test pigment load, but I just looked up all these on Blick, and it's 3.38 for 38ml. It is the cheapest by far. You want to see something wild and crazy?
A 40ml tube of the Michael harding ultramarine blue is 12.20, and the 40ml tube of the Blick artist ultramarine is 13.66. ha! I thought that was crazy, and I am also easily amused.
The most expensive on Blick at this time is the Rembrandt at 15.94 for 40ml. Actually, I'll just do this for grins:
      Winton 4.72 - 37ml
      Georgian 3.38 - 38ml
      Grumbacher 9.25 - 37ml
      Blick Artist 13.66 - 40ml
      Michael Harding 12.20 - 40ml
      Van Gogh 4.96 - 40ml
      Rembrandt 15.94 - 40ml
      Utrecht 9.36 - 37ml
woohooo! There's a couple things I'd like to share-- Hopefully I will make a new vid soon.

Wow! Crazy price variance from the different manufacturers. Doesnt Blick own Utrecht? So why is the Blick so high, didn't seem so great to me. I have been buying a few M.Graham colors which seem to be a nice balance between pigment load and price.

@@andytymon9795 I used Shiva paint for many years and then they became Ultrecht. Blick claimed that it was the same Shiva paint. It did seem like it at first and then it seemed like it got lesser quality. I now mostly only use WN and Ultrech when I can catch a sale. I trust WN more for my Cobalt and Cabs. I use to use ultramarine way too often in my sky. Now I mostly use a mix of Cobalt and Persian to get the sky tones I'm looking for. Recently, I love what Ultramarine does to WN's Rose Matter to get the deeper tones in flowers. I use to use Alizarin Crimson. It seems a bit dirty to me now. I till use it while mixing deep dark receding shadows.

The most intense blue with the white are the last three. At least that is how it looks on the video.

My favorite color! Specifically oil paint Ultramarine Blue not joking. The Winton doesn't look good. Surprising.
