  • We mounted the electric motor and inverter of our electric Gilmore Girls Jeep. We needed to cut a hole in the chassis - but hey, transparent technology is the best technology 😊🙌🔋

    I’m in the early planning stages of converting a 1956 Jeep CJ5 that I pulled out of a friend’s woods. I was considering doing the same sort of direct to transfer case mount, I think you’ve convinced me that’s the way to go. I’m glad I found your channel, I’ve got some binge watching to do.

    Great Update. Everything is coming together for the Electrified Veronika's Electric Gilmore Girls Jeep. (EVEGGJ) 🙂 I love your "Cardboard Aided Design" (CAD). Keep up the great work.

      It's kind of funny - because we have the whole jeep as a CAD file where we can play around with components any time, but really making that cardboard box and trying it in real-life was such an important step and felt really great!

    Another interesting and clever conversion by 'Electric Classic Cars' used a tesla unit located where original transfer case is, So the drive shafts to fwd and aft axles come out of Tesla unit where Left and Right wheel used to be. I don't know details about ring & Pinion Reduction in axles was dealt with - they must have done something for that.

    I found the motor I want to use for my future project and it is going to be a BEAST. 750 hp electric motor. I am now searching for a running gear that will not break under the power.

    • @ElectrifiedVeronika
      @ElectrifiedVeronika  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds awesome and that's a lot of power haha! Which one did you pick and why?

    • @matthew_brown
      @matthew_brown ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ElectrifiedVeronika , I just like power and want to see how it does in the truck and tractor pulls.
      The power and torque curves looks pretty good and I also want to aim for a high performance vehicle with some range. I'd like to see around a 400-500 mile range.
      At the moment I am considering a hyper car kit car so maybe long range will not be a goal but would still like to see at least 300 miles out of it.
      I still need to learn how the battery packs are calculated.
      I may consider purchasing a few scrapped Teslas to use for parts

    You might want to look into a slip yoke eliminator (SYE) kit for the rear output. I guess if you never plan on putting a lift you'll be OK but since you've got it all apart and in the air, I'd say you might as well. Just my opinion. :)

    Was the original transmission a 6 speed manual? I wonder if that might help reduce battery load by using a manual transmission as I know from driving my truck that in 5th gear at 70 I am running less rpm than when I am starting out in 6th gear. Plus there would not be the need for a gear reduction unit. Basically I feel the OEM transmission would provide varying gear reduction or increase. No gate here as I love the project!

    Almost 21K$ for motor inverter, then say 10K$ for batteries, 10K$ for extras and labour. I would say $40K-$50K in total.

Over here you better know before starting that what you're doing will get through the red tape, and nobody would be saying "we'll see" when they're half-way through the build :)

      Here in Wisconsin she will have to nothing at all unless it has a salvaged title.
      If it has a Salvage or Junk Title, You just need to schedule an inspection by the DOT and they will issue a Reconstructed VehicleTitle with a new VIN and everything.
      Years ago I had a 1980 Pontiac Trans Am that was put on a Chevrolet Blazer Chassis and it had a Reconstructed Vehicle Title.

    so why dont you use wheel based motors and then remove the entire flooring and replace it with a flat straight flooring and then have the battery box mounted underneath, raise the jeep to accomindate the height of the box and that way you have a center of balance and dont have to put any of it in the back or under the hook , dont need gear boxes, adapter plates and so forth and still have 4-wheel drive when you want it with independent suspension.

    • @ElectrifiedVeronika
      @ElectrifiedVeronika  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was one of the options we looked at (I think we talked about it in episode 2 of this playlist) - at the time, it was extremely difficult to get in-wheel motors in such small numbers (it probably still is) and we were concerned about the cost and control of the individual motors. Certainly with that option the integration of batteries is much easier and comes closest to the "skateboard" design most OEMs are doing today.

      Because the transfer case would likely grenade at the 6,000 rpm the electric motor turns.
