Gaaah I’ve rewatched it and I’ve noticed things and I got thoughts and ideas. 1) Devil seems almost nervous when getting off the boat. Like he’s unsure of something. Like he’s unsure of what he’s gonna do or what’s gonna happen but he clearly has a want to see Dice and I think that’s driving this interaction more than anything. That smile at the end radiating confidence is likely an act, he probably is still really upset. 2) the people notice and try to prevent Dev from getting to Dice. This likely because Dice had warned them about him. He described him verbally- hence why it took a moment for the first chip character to realize it was the devil. And then everyone joined in in attempting to stop him, implying to me the people genuinely like Dice enough to go out of their way to physically fight the devil. Which brings me to 3) Dice had to have told them about the Devil’s loss, or at least that he can be defeated by mortals if they’re strong enough or enough of them. I doubt he went into much detail. 4) last thing is how Dev is dressed. He’s usually naked and it’s accepted cannon that he prefers to be naked. So he genuinely wanted to put out his best appearance here. Likely because he wants to show Dice that he’s doing just fine without him. If we wanted to go deeper nakedness is associated with vulnerability, and I take it as Dev is usually comfortable be naked because his “vulnerability” isn’t something he once considered vulnerable or weak at all. Now he’s hiding it as layer of protection, likely hiding his issues. 5) he also didn’t disguise himself. He’s clearly the Devil when people look close. So he wasn’t expecting to be kicked out as a result or else he likely would’ve shapeshifted or at least put on different clothes. I’m thinking this was impulsive because he probably has guessed that Dice is avoiding him but didn’t think/realize it was enough of a problem to need to sneak up to him. 6) cliffhangers are mean I wanna know more
I love how everyone is willing to fight the devil without King Dice even telling them to. like they were all willing to at least try, just to protect him so cute
At first, when the scene where the town's people attacked Dev, i was happily smiling because "Ha! Dev's got his ass beaten because he did some nasty shits back then!" But when, i saw the comments and spotted a comment, stating about the town's people trying to save Dice by attacking him so he won't get to Dicey boi himself.... MY HEART IMMEDIATELY BURSTED WITH JOY!! They're protecting him from his ex boss' manipulative (not to mention, intimidating) personality. :D I love it oh so so so so much!! I'm completely fangirling ahhhh!!! Also, i love your art so much!!!
I know this is super-duper late, but the way you show the changes in dice form the day-to-day perspective is amazing. From the second video in the series, you can tell he owns nearly all the businesses in the town due to lost bets, but the way he interacts with those he's taken from is so much different than what you would expect from in-game King Dice. It's easy to tell all the peoples he's taken from are better off now, like the bread guy and the painter having a steady and expected flow of customers. He uses his casino to take power, but has learned from Dev that you can't just take and expect to keep taking. And after being knocked down a peg, it's clear he wouldn't want others to feel the same. Obviously, I have to say your storytelling is spot- on, the small nuances between him and the townsfolk is all of you doing, and you and whoever could have helped deserve all the attention these videos get. Showing that he's not only a common face, but an expected and loved one is in of itself a such an astounding turn from what the old King Dice would act like. I can't wait to see the fourth part in this series, and I hope to the new King Dice there will be much more after.
