Vampire healer summoner. 10/10. I can stay in a fight while healing myself and other players. AND if things get hairy all i need to do is throw out all of my summons and the enemy will focus them while i heal all the players.
Really good quick vid introducing new players to the "holy trinity" its a great starting point for new players or even veteran players to further examine what roles they want to play in certain situations like times when your team needs a healer. Great vid.

Idk why but always when I play any game, I'm the brawl guy, the tank, the guy that has a lot of fucking health and resistance. I try being a stealth guy, I love stealth but it's just not for me. I tried being a... well anything else, it's just not for me.

I made an argonian with siphoning as you recommended and I really like I was thinking of going with the restoration staff and being a healer. Is that a good ideal.
do you have any tips for beginner healers solo? like should i go full heal or just later in the game like level 30 or somthing when you start to do dungeons?
When i go with my friends we have 2 types of dps the add dps and the big enemy dps to help tank kill high enemies. When the healer cant really heal he helps the one with fighting weak enemies then we do this untill the strongest are left or one enemy and nuke them down with normal abilitys.
I personally think you should go Health and Stamina because you will be "bashing" alot and that requires stamina, and if you have a proper party you won't be doing the main damage. You and the healer run the defense while the others do the easy part ;). Just kidding lol, but you definetly will be working in tandom with the healer most if not all of the time. So make sure you stay in close proximity.
You'll be sacrificing a bit of each, but technically yes. Just off the top of my head I can imagine a sword and shield/[weapon of choice] Nightblade in heavy armour spamming the siphon ability that heals him and teammates to do damage and heal at the same time. Nightblade also has blur(gives 20% evasion for a period of time) and the medium armour skill does the same, so using both(I assume they stack) will give you 40% effective damage mitigation before armour. Soul tether will also so a ton of damage and allow other players to heal though synergy. Though I assume other class build are available. And aggressive breath of life Templar for example.
Hey Deltia or any other advice givers. I have an issue. So I LOVE the templar class skill (Specifically dawns wrath and the healing one, aedric sper is meh in my books) and dawns wrath and the healing one use magicka... well I despise staffs. Is there a way to be able to use say S&b while still doing decent damage if I put my attribute point into the magicka for my class skills? or Is destro staff my only option?
Then just do a mix of different classes. Like i did. I made a vampire healer summoner. If enemy gets near all i have to do is use my summons and the enemy will focus on them while i suck their blood and pretty much destroy them.
I don't do meta as I think of it as paint by numbers. Someone already worked it out. Specked it out and all I need do is fill in the corresponding paint color in the appropriate number. I experiment. Usually since I'm playing solo I do hybrids. Thus I'm able to do a bit of each roll for better survivability as a solo player. What I'd like to try is raids or trials with say 12 hybrids and see how that'd do.
So for some one that likes to play a harassment role yet loves bows and getting that damage out, what would their role be? And for a night blade that prefers bows, should they use light or medium armor?
they need an armour set that taunts aoe when you taunt. or even have a charge button on taunt, longer it's held the bigger the area the more stamina cost.
ive always been a Dps tank cause i only work in a duo. i am a templar base with a 2h weapon for optimal damage while wearing full heavy gear with hp and damage bonuses. i opted out my weapon swap to be dual wielded weapons on order to bank the faster dps and added healing abilities onto this bar to let my healer dps do less work on healing and more on helping clear. we tried doing a veteran dungeon last week, but couldnt deal enough damage to defeat the boss. can you tell me what we might be doing wrong with this tank/dps + healer/dps? (im on xbox one)
Should have a sword and shield on my second bar if I am using a magic based destruction staff dk or should I just focus on using the staff? I am mostly soloing thru content right now.
If you're using stamina abilities, medium is the way to go. It offers more defence then light and it also reduces stamina costs of abilities per piece equipped.
+Kronix yea if your doing weapon damage for stamina build but best DPS damage is spell/magic. You could gain that in Champion points I guess but the passives on the other armor are alot better than mediums.
+Kronix Also wearing medium armor gives you almost no real pretection against spells or magic. Its meant more for sneaking around etc. For mobs your screwed, I'd say the best are either light for good burn and massive damage or heavy for beating down mobs real quick. Yea you lose weapon damage and crits but champion points easily make up for all that . Also elemental damge increase is good as it boosts up your weapon enchantments and abilitys.
I''m leveling a bosmer nightblade bow dps but i dont know which abilities i should take. i already have venom arrow, snipe, reapers mark, and that new ability from the assisination tree. this means i have one ability slot empty, and i dont know which ability i should use. help!
Well, its rough with duals (im a templar tank AOE buster) but very fun. Just make sure you have shield abilities. Theres alot. Go mad scientist on them to find your combo.

Put more skill points in extra damage for your weapons in passive. Because you tried to put all your skills into making a tank build you screwed yourself. Future refrence stay away from trying to make characters into roles.

Hmm... The Holy Trinity is both a boon and a bane in the genre. On one hand, it creates an easy system to understand. On the other hand, it sorts you into one of three roles, which hinders creativity and flexibility in the system. My (new) main in ESO, I plan to make a 'Tank with support capabilities' character for guild PvP. My class is a Dragonknight, wearing heavy armor, wielding One-hand and shield with a healing staff secondary. I believe that this combination will give me great capabilities for leading a guild group in Cyrodiil, since sustain and healing is more important than DPS for a driver. Essentially, what I'm trying to go for is a guardian-type character from GW2.
TombRaiderJake I agree that it sucks to get "pigeon holed" into a specific role, but the good thing ESO does is allowing players of any class to participate in multiple roles. All classes have access to the Restoration Staff line, or the Sword and Shield line. My templar can go from a ranged DPS, to an up close tank, to a healer with nothing but a respec.
TombRaiderJake Yeah a point. The point I was trying to make is at end game/group play PvE you fulfill those roles. That's why PvP is great for hybrid folks.

Thats why everyone has the ability to pick up a restoration staff if they need to heal friends or allies in their offhands without having to pick a certain role. just play it mate .. as you get into the game it will start to make sense . then you can ask questions either in game or read up online guides etc . but you need to start playing first for it to sink in
I never follow those three roles especially on ESO because it is an Elder scrolls game just because it is an MMO doesn't mean I have to play a role I play as a sorcerer who use a one handed sword and no shield because that's my play style.
***** this is an Elderscrolls experience first with the basic mechanics of an MMO as what the devs said. They didnt want to tie players down to certain roles and have strict rules like other MMOs which there isnt. This is barely an MMO. You keep talking about one handed and people using a shield to tank over you? What the hell are you talking about? Elderscroll games have always allowed duel wield and shields. Have you even reached level 15 to weapon swap? Plenty of abilities that act as "tank" abilities. Dragonknight has chains and also talons. Im an argonian yet if you ask people they will tell you argonians arent great healers. Yet why does my passive give me 15% extra experience for my restoration staff? Why is my health regen so high? Oh because if i put a restoration in my off hand I can give myself self heals without needing a healer. Theres no such roles in this game. As a dragonknight I can use chains and talons to control mobs yet my passives give me a huge advantage due to healing plus dragonknights deal alot of damage. Enchantments, crafting, provisioning, will give you the best stats in a game. Not roles. So go ahead and try and "tank" since the programming in dungeons ignore tank builds and attack everyone no matter who you are...you will get slaughtered if you honestly think that you can tank in a dungeon and have all the monsters and bosses attention on you. Just like all the healers who think they are immune to being attacked like in other MMOs. This plays exactly like an Elderscrolls games, not an MMO....so good luck with your "tank" build and relying on healers and DPS and when monsters ignore you and attack someone else, dont get mad now lol
***** im a PC beta player and a PC transfer copy to PS4. Those were put in there in the early stages because thats when Zenimax was listning too much to Hardcore players. I have been with ESO from the very beginning. Zenimax took out alot of role specific mechanics. No you don't need specific roles in ESO to finish higher content. Learning the mechanics of enemys and bosses and synergy will get content done faster. Enemy mechanics do not follow the holy trinity. People healing will get smashed by bosses just as much as any others. Also a good well balanced group thats eaten provisioning food and enchanted their gear better will get better stats than simply SP your role you think you want. Zenimax hasnt disappointed me at all because Im in a guild that has no roles watsoever and we def dont pay attention to the roles thing in group finder. In fact not too many people even use group finder in PS4 because no one cares about roles and we can always find a group thats waiting outside. No one has the best loadout or build. All players build theirs for survivability not roles..just like in Skyrim
***** when game first came out I tanked on my dragon knight in 2 pieces of heavy armor rest light armor with sword and shield and tank all the way to level 50 no problem , my second bar had resto staff and some resto abilities, I leveled so fast by aoe in open world with groups of 20 mobs...not sure if you can do that in game now
DPS also forget they're responsible for protecting the healer, especially in ESO where you have a single 15 second taunt and limited resources, you cant taunt everything. DPS in this game seem to only care about the boss 9 out of 10, or rush into dungeons ahead of their tank, die, then wonder wtf happened.
This is the one and only game, where i read the most stupid role-description every single time: "I am a DPS".. Meaning: "I am a damage per second" -_- Why not stick with the regular "I am a DD" meaning "I am a damage dealer".. Makes much more sense to me..
Nightkrowler It's not all about DD's. There are different types of damage dealers, but in ESO the most common is a person who does damage per second, not just damage.
zack taylor If you do continuous damage, by continuously attacking, you deal dps, yes. But this makes you a DD. Sure, as a Tank, you too deal damage, but this is not your primary task. SO you Are not a DD, but a Tank. Same with healers. And in this game, if you are neither tank, nor heal, you're a damage dealer.
Bvamso Swith characters, templar has the worst sustain of all classes and Khajit has the worst sustain of all races. Stamplar only gets resources back from corpses/killing things and repenting them (radiant aura morph) Khajit has extra crit damage and stealth damage and can pull off burst damage, but if its a PvE boss and its a long fight you're going to run out of stamina.
The game has no roles, never did for the past 20 years, why these kids complaining about no roles just because they made it online. Kids trying to tell developers what to do. Elder Scrolls has over 20 Games since 1994, obviously the clueless no college education adults never played elder scrolls games, it skyrim, just online. It's like if they make resident evil an mmo, these new generation of idiots will complain there is no roles. Play the game, enjoy the way it is.

all 3 are always needed in groups, I was taught to always have two dps one tank and a healer, the two dps can be either Magika and stamina or both.

Doesnt matter because damage isnt defined by your armor. Its defined by your weapon. No such thing as DPS in Elderscrolls...

Templers arent tanks; Templers are a class. No such thing as one class being defined in a certain role. This is Elderscrolls not WoW

Thats why everyone has the ability to pick up a restoration staff if they need to heal friends or allies in their offhands without having to pick a certain role. ESO isnt about having the best build because theres no such thing....only MMO weirdos whove never played an Elderscrolls game still believe they have to be in a role

so anyone can reply to this where does AoE fit into the game should it be the dps/support job or the tanks job cuz i could see how an Aoe attack like the Sorcerors thunder storm, or their summons cuz like they all do some damage but its constant but is that invading into the tanks job and i should be focusing more on heavy damage attacks on one npc (i know this sounds confusing) basically im asking as a dps would AoE be a good idea or no

just play it mate .. as you get into the game it will start to make sense . then you can ask questions either in game or read up online guides etc . but you need to start playing first for it to sink in

I never follow those three roles especially on ESO because it is an Elder scrolls game just because it is an MMO doesn't mean I have to play a role I play as a sorcerer who use a one handed sword and no shield because that's my play style.

***** this is an Elderscrolls experience first with the basic mechanics of an MMO as what the devs said. They didnt want to tie players down to certain roles and have strict rules like other MMOs which there isnt. This is barely an MMO. You keep talking about one handed and people using a shield to tank over you? What the hell are you talking about? Elderscroll games have always allowed duel wield and shields. Have you even reached level 15 to weapon swap? Plenty of abilities that act as "tank" abilities. Dragonknight has chains and also talons. Im an argonian yet if you ask people they will tell you argonians arent great healers. Yet why does my passive give me 15% extra experience for my restoration staff? Why is my health regen so high? Oh because if i put a restoration in my off hand I can give myself self heals without needing a healer. Theres no such roles in this game. As a dragonknight I can use chains and talons to control mobs yet my passives give me a huge advantage due to healing plus dragonknights deal alot of damage. Enchantments, crafting, provisioning, will give you the best stats in a game. Not roles. So go ahead and try and "tank" since the programming in dungeons ignore tank builds and attack everyone no matter who you are...you will get slaughtered if you honestly think that you can tank in a dungeon and have all the monsters and bosses attention on you. Just like all the healers who think they are immune to being attacked like in other MMOs. This plays exactly like an Elderscrolls games, not an MMO....so good luck with your "tank" build and relying on healers and DPS and when monsters ignore you and attack someone else, dont get mad now lol
***** im a PC beta player and a PC transfer copy to PS4. Those were put in there in the early stages because thats when Zenimax was listning too much to Hardcore players. I have been with ESO from the very beginning. Zenimax took out alot of role specific mechanics. No you don't need specific roles in ESO to finish higher content. Learning the mechanics of enemys and bosses and synergy will get content done faster. Enemy mechanics do not follow the holy trinity. People healing will get smashed by bosses just as much as any others. Also a good well balanced group thats eaten provisioning food and enchanted their gear better will get better stats than simply SP your role you think you want. Zenimax hasnt disappointed me at all because Im in a guild that has no roles watsoever and we def dont pay attention to the roles thing in group finder. In fact not too many people even use group finder in PS4 because no one cares about roles and we can always find a group thats waiting outside. No one has the best loadout or build. All players build theirs for survivability not roles..just like in Skyrim
***** when game first came out I tanked on my dragon knight in 2 pieces of heavy armor rest light armor with sword and shield and tank all the way to level 50 no problem , my second bar had resto staff and some resto abilities, I leveled so fast by aoe in open world with groups of 20 mobs...not sure if you can do that in game now
DPS also forget they're responsible for protecting the healer, especially in ESO where you have a single 15 second taunt and limited resources, you cant taunt everything. DPS in this game seem to only care about the boss 9 out of 10, or rush into dungeons ahead of their tank, die, then wonder wtf happened.

This is the one and only game, where i read the most stupid role-description every single time: "I am a DPS".. Meaning: "I am a damage per second" -_-
Why not stick with the regular "I am a DD" meaning "I am a damage dealer".. Makes much more sense to me..

Nightkrowler It's not all about DD's. There are different types of damage dealers, but in ESO the most common is a person who does damage per second, not just damage.
zack taylor If you do continuous damage, by continuously attacking, you deal dps, yes. But this makes you a DD. Sure, as a Tank, you too deal damage, but this is not your primary task. SO you Are not a DD, but a Tank. Same with healers. And in this game, if you are neither tank, nor heal, you're a damage dealer.

Bvamso Swith characters, templar has the worst sustain of all classes and Khajit has the worst sustain of all races. Stamplar only gets resources back from corpses/killing things and repenting them (radiant aura morph) Khajit has extra crit damage and stealth damage and can pull off burst damage, but if its a PvE boss and its a long fight you're going to run out of stamina.

The game has no roles, never did for the past 20 years, why these kids complaining about no roles just because they made it online. Kids trying to tell developers what to do. Elder Scrolls has over 20 Games since 1994, obviously the clueless no college education adults never played elder scrolls games, it skyrim, just online. Are you trying to say this game has no roles or am I reading this wrong? because if so then you're probably new to ESO because if you go to group and select your roles... there DPS, TANK, and HEALER. so, yes this game does have roles.

There is none. All classes can do great damage as long as you build up whatevers needed for your abilities.
