The 2021 Fox 40 docs specify a max of 5 x 10mm tokens (or bad things (they mentioned death) can happen) unless you limit your travel from 203mm to 190mm by changing to an optional stem shaft. Did you do that change as well? Also you don’t mention meeting the 137 mm max spec from top of lower crown to top of upper stanchion. On a Sur-Ron it requires a optional Fox drop upper crown and swapping out the tapered bearing for a flat caged bearing to reduce the head stack height. (Or an aftermarket extra drop crown to avoid losing the benefits of a top tapered bearing) you did not mention any of this and was wondering if you solved those issues? Also for riders coming from non-float axle forks such as RST Killah, they will also have to correct the brake rotor offset with a 5mm shim (between rotor and hub) and extra long fasteners.
Emotobros, any response to the comment above? Also, not sure in I missed it, but did you ever mention your guys rider weights and psi?
You only need a drop crown for the newest Fox 40 forks. They have shorter stanchions.
I would suggest to buy the older non-boost Fox 40s.
The 137mm are important (for MTBs) because otherwise the tire of DH Bikes could hit the lower crown. The wheels of the Surron are smaller so you can move the lower crown downwards. You just have to messure the travel so you know how far you can go.
It is possible to ride most of the Fox 40s with the stock bearings and the standard upper crown. There are some videos about this.
Of course the drop crown is the better solution.
The 5mm spacers for the brake disc are only necessary if the new fork is a boost fork. I bought a used 2016 Fox 40 Factory Kashima for 700€ and I did not need them. But you have to check the length of the steerer tube. You need at least 175mm if you use a direct mount stem, otherwise add the height of your stem. Most used DH forks have shorter steerer tubes.
Im glad my stock DNM is holding up. I really want this fork tho. Might get the DVO tho because its cheaper
look into the marzochi..its less than the fox
I like my DVO!
@@hometownguy7184 Also owned by Fox.
@@33jayy still less than fox
@@surronzak8154 No doubt
Great video, thanks!! Hey if you ever have the time, I would love a video on how to replace the rear shock and the exact components/parts you need to make it fit. It's very confusing which spring fits (for people that just want to replace the spring with a heavier one) and or if you need any aftermarket parts to make something like the fox dhx2 fit on the sur ron. Cheers !
We’ve been waiting for our fox rear shocks for 5 months now or else we would have it out!
@@emotobros hell yeah!! Sweet okay
Excellent tutorial! Thank you....
Oh yeahhh every video is a banger
Awesome. All over my head haha. But definitely wanna upgrade my forks soon.
Wouldent you rather go for the dorado manitou pro or expert? looks like a better option to me
Before watching the vid, I can say these Fox 40's are definitely worth it.
I've got the white 40's really nice. The stock forks dont compare.
what for do you need them over the stock one's ?
@@surronzak8154 all depends what type of riding you do.
I go up/down steep inclines, rocks and mud terrain, I can say I have tested these to the limit. They have a smoother rebound that can be adjusted to suit your riding style.
What size are your forks the 27.5 or the 26"?
@@Fighter4Street i run the 27.5 with maxxis 70/100-19 tyres
@@JayJay-loz I still wish I knew the issues of running a 27.5" fork when the bike was designed for a 26" fork. I know he was talking about a steep rake, I wonder if there are any noticeable issues.
Thanks guys, I went with the bomber 58. Love them. I had them set up perfect, and this video helped confirm that.
Glad to hear it, definitely the best fork for the money in our opinion 🤘🏽
@@emotobros I agree, now I need wheels.. I've done everything else. Wheels is all I have left to upgrade. Keep up the solid content.
Where did you buy them?
@@BobbyD-Lo ebay 7-8 months ago
@@briandhoward6137 worth the money? I'm running rst killahs they are a bit mooshy
how many spacers should i use only for street
Just some info for this swap: Socket size for that air cap is 32mm. Cannot use a regular 32mm, needs to be non chamfered. If one orders a new fox 40 and wants to swap their RST fork out, one would need to swap out to cane creek headset or get a risse racing drop crown for the upper as new surron headsets are very tall. 😎🤙🏼🤙🏼
hey buddy great vid.. just curious.. i only been into MTB bike for couple yrs but ive always been told high speed compressions for Hard impacts and Low speed Comp is setting for small bump compliance ... You literally just said the complete opposite... So curious which is it? did u make a mistake on that? cause i didnt hear the opposite from 1 to 2 people ive been hearing it for couple yrs?? thanx buddy!!!
What wheels and tires are you running ? I need those :)
im tired of waiting for surron-segway!..where can i buy one that will ship?
They’re getting so popular that the factory can’t make them quick enough!
Good review. I really like the pressure equalling buttons on this fork too. Where'd you sell your forks? I won't use FB, was wondering if there was another good option. 2020 RST new.
We sold ours on FB because the group is pretty active. Not sure where else would work.
So good!
do. you guys have the 14mm drop crown on your guys' fox 40s
We don't. We measured and there is basically no room to spare as far as travel is concerned. If we were going to do it again we'd likely buy a drop crown.
@@emotobros - Awesome video guys..!! love the channel. - as a follow up question, I see that a drop crown is needed for a 2021 + Fox 40... My Fox 40 is a 2015 model, does that mean I DO NOT need the drop crown on my surron....? I'm a little confused.... thoughts...?
How much longer until those wheels are in stock?
Hoping for a month or two.
Hit me up on Facebook messenger and I can build you a wheel set no problem
Been watching yall a lot, did yall come from motocross background? How do yall like the sur ron vs moto?
Yes came from moto. For anything but the track or wide open fire roads we think the SurRon is better. Once battery capacity/charge times become lower though they’ll probably start phasing out gas bikes. The noise is a huge part of the reason so many tracks near cities shut down. These solves that.
Good video thanks boys
Are those riding videos from Post Canyon?
Yep!
arent they out of stock till december
We bought them a while ago. But yeah pretty much everything is out of stock right now unfortunately.
That fork is half the price of the Bike .1750$? Here in Germany that fork costs 2100€/2550$.thats ridiculous
Some are ready to pay a kidney just for the look Xp
@@surronzak8154that’s me lol
Where did you get the “tokens”?
Came with the fork
Can somebody point me to the best place to buy fox 40s for my Sur Ron X 2021
Go to the part links in the description
Has anyone else done fox 40 on a suron? I’ve done it to mine and it turns well different I don’t like it is there anyway I can sort it?
You could run the sm pro wheels.
I've got 2021 40's i love them, but I haven't used the OEM ones much, as that's probably what your used too.
What do you mean it turns different? Are you using a 27.5" fork?
Psi
Too much rebound damping is called..."Packing" not... stacking
Packing
When the wheel extends so slowly after being compressed by a bump that it does not return to the proper ride height when the next bump is encountered. Caused by excessive Low Speed Rebound Damping.
Ha yeah just misspoke. Went back and looked at the script and even wrote packing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You need to read up on suspension set up. Your wrong about so much stuff
Ah sorry! Please leave a comment correcting what was wrong so our viewers can learn 🤘🏽
