  • In todays video we talk about why people squat their trucks. What is the reason behind it? Does it make the vehicle unsafe to drive and useless as a working truck?

Rake is a factory thing because of aero Dynamics, trucks get bad enough gas mileage as it is, having the front end up with any truck is going to increase drag which will worsen gas mileage, plus the motors oil system wasn't made to constantly pump oil uphill and when turned off oil drains to the back making dry starts more evident which increases damage to the front piston rings so, Squat is useless and a problem causer,

44 July this year..... First, your trucks are nice man (looks and sounds). I've been a Chevy Truck guy since I ever had my own automobile but I do respect and admire other manufactures too. (currently own a all black 2014 Silvy) For me.....I personally careless if a truck (or car for that matter) is lowered, lifted, squatted, leveled, or not touched at all.... I always say "It's your ride and if y'all enjoy what you drive and your happy with what you done to it cosmetically.. Kudos.. Its a nice ride." I personally don't mess with the suspension or engine related stuff in my truck(s). Ill do the aftermarket wheels, lights, and exhaust. But that is about it (I know...boring to most peeps). But I like my end results and I drive happy.. In the words of the lead singer Barney Greenway of my favorite band, Napalm Death, "We like to think people do share our views but people should be individuals, that why you got a brain for...If everybody shared the same views, life would be boring."

It's not mentioned enough but handling is greatly improved with a nice slight baja lean, almost every trophy truck/prerunner build is nose hight for this reason, so nose dose not dig into corners, all the motor weight over the front and low weight in back made to be safe from factory wiTH a load yet every turn you take even around town with a kicked up rear...it sucks, compared to slightly more high, feels planted af and corners 10x greater... that's also how the baja trucks sling around corners with greater stability etc..etc.

I live in Interlachen Florida and we have a lot of squatted trucks around here. Your trucks have a moderate good looking squat, not a sick squat. Some are so squatted I am surprised they are even street legal! Never get discouraged from peoples negative feedback. There are a lot of Assholes out there.

33, my truck has a little squat, 1997 f150 4wd. It had more but with 33x11 r16 the tires looked tiny in front and it bothered me so I dropped it about 1.5 inches in the front. It has a 4" bracket lift in front and 2" lift blocks w/ helper bags in back. Just how I bought it. It's a retired forest ranger truck. I dont mind mild squat. It is what it is. I dont like big wheels either but to each their own. Keep it up.

If you lower your truck, then when you load it, you're going to risk grazing that rear wheel with the fender leading to all sorts of trouble. So in order to comensate you're going to need to stiffen the suspension which means any hole and such would mean you may end up giving shocks to yer passengers and risk twisting the frame over a pothole.

you say there not problems with squatted truck's . i see a ton of problems .
1 You blind the hell out of everyone at night
2 you limit your field of view
3 you starve you tranny of fluid
4 you run the risk of blowing the rear tranny seal out an losing the fluid ( on the road can cause a wreck)
5.you limit on what you can pull
    6 it looks like shit
7 there no meaning behind it . Lifted truck mean bigger tire's for the mud
8 lowered truck bigger flashy rim's
9 just look like a haft ass lift job who couldn''t afford a full lift kit
putting pipe''s on my truck with cherry bombs 1973 ram 250 with the 5.9 360 sound's good
    same with my z71 with a 454
same with my z71 350 4 bolt main bore to a 383 stroker
same with my 1993 ford Flair side with the 351 W
same with my Chevy c10 Cyclone
I love the rumble. but not to loud i can't hear my on dam horn
yea it a personal view of things on what mod's you wanna do .
but what since does it make how does it help you.
i have bigger pipe's on my truck so my truck can breath better
so i take my truck put 50 rice patty tire''''s in the front an put go cart tire'''s in the back . i do not get it by no mean

There's one black squat that runs up and down my busy street ..he installed electric cutouts and it's LOUD..sometimes he only opens 1 side which, in my opinion, sounds horrible. Many times he makes about a 2 mile run down the road, hooks left on RT17 goes about another mile, makes another left in a looped road..which is residential..and truck can be heard from my house the entire 3-4 mile route.
an hour later he does it again. Maybe the squat setup looks OK to him and it is his truck..but that exhaust !!!I feel like throwing a big rock at it every time he comes down the road with the cutouts open

I’m 17 and I personally don’t like the squatted look. I’d rather slam a old school truck and put it on some baby billets and some fatty tires or level out most trucks with some simple 33s. I kinda think simple and clean is the way to go on a truck and don’t like the flashy outlandish styles but to each is own. At the end of the day whatever you do to your truck is personal preference and if it brings a smile to your face who cares what anybody else says.

Level the truck and trim the fenders correctly and cleanly then pack some big tires in and make it so they clear perfect. You can get that stuffed tire look and functionality.

Baby squat should get some color matched tow mirrors and maybe a tool box, turn it into a new Larry. Also maybe a roll pan conversion.

I’m 18 and I prefer Raked trucks, but if you prefer squatted trucks over leveled or raked trucks then that’s completely fine. You do you man, and I’ll respect it either way. I’m gonna do what I like to do still and that’s driving around in raked trucks beat all to hell with it’s ass in the air, and no exhaust on it with giant ass mud tires. Oh by the way I should mention that I’m not a big fan of stock trucks because most trucks need to be modded to function properly according to your needs anyways.

Your truck look pretty nice, the people that catch hate are the ones running a 12 inch lift in the front and drop shackles in the rear, with their bumpers 3 inches from the ground

  • @maggo24us
    @maggo24us ปีที่แล้ว +1

That is actually pretty modest when it comes to squatted trucks. ( Your trucks) That doesn't look that bad. But the ones that I see running around town that has at least a 12 inch lift or more in the front and the rear it's dropped down so low that it's damn near touching the tires... That kind of setup is completely absurd in my opinion. Lord knows what it is doing to the engine and transmission with the fluid sitting at the back of the pans. Plus I don't know how the hell the extreme squated ones can be safe to drive. You can't see for quite a distance in front of you and there is no way that your lights do you any good at night

This was a fantastic video that may very well have opened many peoples eyes. I know I have a better understanding, if no appreciation of the squat. I am 48 years old. My dad ran his cars with wide rear tires and some rake with the rear end up a few inches higher than the front. When I got into cars, I was drawn to classic muscle cars, but the trend was to slam everything to the ground (cars, trucks, I even remember a Geo Tracker that had a body kit and you could barely fit your hand between the body and the road). I never grew out of the muscle car thing, and I love a good sleeper, but I remember my dad talking about how dumb it was to lower a truck.. He used to say, "if you want a car, buy a car, don't destroy a perfectly good truck". LOL... we were all young and wanted to stand out at one time, and most will grow old and be set in our ways.

Age 36, I like the idea of squatted trucks but I don't like the extreme squats. The angle you had on your chevy is perfect for me...i want to lightly squat my gmc envoy but instead of the super wide wheel n tire setup, I want to put some offset 24s or 26s with low pro street tires

  • @attrezzopox

Squatting does have a use before it was a look. Baja racers would squat trucks to prevent nosediving a jump. They’d still be lifted in the back but the front would be real high with really long suspension arms.

Mods that don’t improve your vehicles usefulness, comfort, or versatility is stupid unless your treating it like a full on show vehicle
Anything in between is throwing money out the window
People like what they like but people like stupid shit sometimes and it should be laughed at or else it becomes the norm
The one good thing about squatted trucks is loading your dirt bike or four wheeler in the bed

My Avalanche 2500 has a 7" lift, lockers, 35s, 20x12s, magnaflows, tint, two 10s in the back, light bar, etc. But for the life of me I don't understand the extreme squat. It just looks ridiculous to me. But no hate intended, to each his own! I just wish I could understand it. I guess that's a sign of being old.
