      you can use them with EGO disposable cartridge grips. google it.
      or you can buy FK irons universal vice connector to make this vice version into standard grip and use it with any disposable cartridge grips. ( I show it in this video )

      I think Hawk Pen is more suitable for the first machine. You can also use disposable grips with it , what could be better for a start.

    Hi Anrijs. What is on your opinion better for black and grey work? Pen or spirit? I got a pen and thinking to change it for spirit, as I read a lot about pen they breaks pretty often

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      my pen hasn't break in 2+ years. I heard allot people complaining about them braking, but I honestly don't know what they do with the machines to break them.
      both are good machines for black and grey, I cannot answer witch is better.
      JUST black and gray maybe spirit. but I prefer to use pen as I do some lines with it too.

    my main question is if you use a different power supply besides the pu from cheyenne it's heavily endorsed to get a start up chord do you need to use a start up chord to run the cheyenne machine's on a standard powersupply . thanks for your videos man greetings from arkansas

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you need to use the startup cable only for Cheyenne Thunder machine. This supply will run other machines with no problem. I don't use startup cable for Cheyenne Hawk and Pen machine, and I've been using it for more then 1,5 year already , no problem. I'm not electrician to understand all details about it, but it works for me.
      not sure on other supplies , I guess it's just easier to get that cable and do it all right way.

    To start I was advised to use the coils machines! Is better than rotatory machines or no?

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would go for rotary myself. I'll try to describe it all in next few videos .
      I think if you're apprenticing you need to listen to what your boss say's and what he suggest's as he will be the one who will teach you everything.

    wait! you said that you can adjust the stroke by rotating grip. Don't get me wrong but isn't it for adjusting needle protrusion by rotating the grip, cheyenne spirit has 3mm direct drive stroke which you can't adjust.

    Hello.
    I would like to ask how does the Spirit do linework?
    I've read some comments that the Thunder is better, because Spirit won't do good lining with needles larger than 5rl.
    Yet to use the Thunder you need the Cheyenne Power Unit.
    And I am looking for a machine which will grant a good, smooth lining with 9,11 rl and also color packing.
    Now I am thinking Phantom Oil or Cheyenne Hawk Spirit.
    I am not sure if Phantom Oil would work with cartridges if I bought a special cartridge tube so...I wonder how do you rate the Spirit as it comes to linework?
    Thank you :)

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do some lines with spirit, but I don't think it's a liner machine. I wouldn't do lettering tattoo or line whole back piece with it.
      same with thunder. it does punch harder and has extra stroke , but I wouldn't still use it as my main liner.
      I know people use both machines for line work,I just don't think it's the best to line with cartridges.
      I believe you can use thunder with any power supply. with some of them you will need to get ''startup cable'' but with Critical power pack you don't need to get anything extra. it works with no problem.

    • @zukzuk5651
      @zukzuk5651 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know I'm pretty late just seeing this video now, but I'm hoping you can answer a question for me. I'm an apprentice right now, and the Hawk Spirit is the first machine I bought. I've been using it for a couple of months now, doing mostly simple outline tattoos, but I keep having to touch up people's tattoos because the lines are falling out a bit during healing. Is there a rotary you recommend specifically for lining? Any help would be appreciated Anrijs, I love your vids

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hawk spirit is not really liner machine. If you want to keep Cheyenne machines , I would suggest you to switch to Thunder or pen, that will suite more line work and should be lot better.
      but I think best liners will be - Direct drive machines or coil machines specific for lining. almost any brand will be good.

    Hey one thing I've really been scared about with this particular machine (apart from the thunder and the pen)
    is that can you use it with another power supply that isn't from Cheyenne and if so how do I go about using the spirit version of the Cheyenne with a different power supply do I need the start up cable ? Or does it work without a start up cable?

    • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo
      @AnrijsStraumeTattoo  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      all Cheyenne machines works with critical power supplies with no startup cable. spirit will work with almost any good power supply without any startup cables. you will still need - Cheyenne Hawk Headphone Plug 6.3mm (Headphone Jack 3.5mm) to connect it to your power pack.

      it is possible , but I don't have plans for video like that.
      Cheyenne spirit is 10 years old machine, what's original was designed for permanent makeup too I believe. but it was working better for tattooing.
      Xion S is brand new machine , actually designed for that too, with many updates. 2 separate cams , slim grip , stroke options and also it is really comfortable shape for permanent makeup procedure + it's more safe to use it as the grip can actually be properly sanitised. I believe that's the number one to go for. FK irons has separate youtube channel , where they show their machines in details and go through options , I believe they have XionS there too , so you can check those videos and see what you think.
