    Goniopora, bernardpora and alveopora are my favorite corals also. They check all the boxes, come in other colors other than red and green, long flowing polyps or short flower like appearance. It is a challenging coral to keep with all the gratification with success. Pro tip manganese is a goni's friend

    I know a lot of hobbiest's find these corals quite a bit easier to keep than in previous years, but man do I still struggle to keep them healthy. I can keep them alive, but they are so difficult for me to keep colored-up and maintain their polyp extension.
    I greatly appreciated the care tips Than provided here. This was a very informative video, and I'd personally love seeing the format for more genus of corals. Thank you

    This is a great conversation and so perfect for me. I’ve struggled with Gonis in the past, losing 3 or 4 in the past 3 years. Oddly enough I have an Alveopora that is growing like a weed! I had to move it up to a higher tier to give it some space and all it did was stretch out even more. I’m glad to hear that it should be easy to frag.
    Thanks for getting together, You’re Two of my favorite minds in the hobby!

    Great conversation guys. I love these conversations about a specific coral. I got some great information about my issues I’m having with these corals.

    Great video and will certainly buy polylab dip. Goni’s love plenty of manganese and can suffer if insufficient in a reef tank

    Good timing, I have a firecracker Goni that has been slowly getting more unhappy over the 6 or so months since I got it. Still extends out but really isn't thriving, hoping that moving locations will help as my other LPS are reasonably happy.

    I did a 2-min un-diluted dip with H2O2 for 2 gonis when I got them. They were angry for a few days but bounced back. YMMV.

    Ugh I can't get my one goni to open at all and its been weeks. I've tried a few different placements with lighting and flow. I can't get it. I'm on moonshine so I know my traces are on point. Daily dose maganese etc....don't know what to do next.

    "they call them throwers" lol! I just got fish from Elliot and the FedEx driver came to the door and just dropped the box and walked away. Disregard the "live fish caution" labels everywhere. Don't ring the door bell or anything. The fish arrived very healthy despite the journey!

    If I have some green hair algae (1/4” size ) growing in between the polyps of my Amazeballz Goni, how can I permanently remove it without hurting the Goni?

    Truuly bizarre to hear Ryan is hesitant to have a planted tank cuz of the high maintenance! Just don’t throw co2 and a ton of light on it and u won’t ever need to trim a thing.

    There have been posts on here and r2r from people that have gotten acro white bugs and AEFW from TG, both with video/photo evidence. Before I saw those posts, I had purchased other types of frags from TG, and was flabbergasted at how tiny they were for the price.

    • @sovereignviper90
      @sovereignviper90 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Lol, everyone gets the bugs regardless of source. I've received corals from wwc with flatworms. Do your part on quarantine or isolate the infected coral before placing it into the main reef tank.

    • @opethmike
      @opethmike 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@sovereignviper90 Yeah, WWC is notorious for having pests.
      Plenty of small boutique vendors out there that do their job which results in not having nasty problems like bugs or AEFW.
      And no, not everyone gets those pests.

    • @sovereignviper90
      @sovereignviper90 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @opethmike with almost 30 years in the aquarium hobby, I can guarantee you'll go through phases of pests and nuisance algae's. Saying that no one will is just being vein. Yes, you are correct. There are small shops that have prestine corals with glistening frag plugs, but let's be honest, not everyone has time to source out those shops or have the time to drive to them. Online vendors give those people a chance to purchase "high-end corals" without the needing to go out. Personally, i am old-fashioned, and I take the time and research to find the shops that are trusted vs. paying the online woke named coral at a premium. Each their own and their own wallet I say lol

    • @opethmike
      @opethmike 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sovereignviper90 I didn't say that no one will go through phases of pests and algae.
      You're twisting my words there. I said that not everyone will end up with white bugs or AEWFW. You took my statement and twisted into being a broader statement.
      I'll be glad to continue this discussion if you can do so fairly.

    Want to know something hilarious about hotdogs that I just learned?
    The box from the factory says “weiners”. Like, their Latin name is “wieners”.
    “Hot dog” is the common name.
