Even though you don’t have your store anymore, I love how they’ve left the storefront up. It’s just gonna have to stay there as a permanent tourist attraction.
These estate sales really give you a glimpse into our own mortality. Most importantly it’s not bad to collect things but not be too attached, it’s all borrowed. It’s about the good memories and experiences, being content in life.
You should do an RV trip. My family and I did a road trip across plus a few detours off of route 66 such as Maryland, West virginia, Memphis, Nashville, Chicago and Tyler in Texas back in 2014. We had a great time. We are from Australia.
I went to a Beverly Hills estate sale 28 years ago. The husband had already died, and the wife was moved to a nursing home. He owned a theater chain. Her personal closet alone was bigger than my usual apartment as a single person. My gosh...small room after room with hanging rows of sequin clothes all colors of the rainbow. Her Judith Lieber minaudieres were the first items purchased by the lucky "early-attenders.' For $100, I bought a black sequin jacket trimmed with turkey feather boas that I wore for nights out.
I lived in Venice Beach for thirty years. Now back in Ohio for 20 years, my home town. Those were great times in LA. It’s great to watch your videos as it brings back many memories. Especially this video, with Brentwood and Dockweiler Beach included, my old stomping grounds. Nice to see the roads by the airport where a housing project use to be, with the roads still there. Looks the same. I miss it all, but I have those memories and glad I did that, just like you GIP. Thank you for the videos! 🙏❣️♌️🇺🇸 Happy 4th!
A lifetime spent collecting material items boils down to strangers looking through a bunch of old junk. Collect experiences and memories, not useless crap.
I agree to an extent. People buy things that make them happy through the years and attach memories to these things. If they meant something, then they meant something. Who is anyone to criticize what individuals do and like when they aren’t hurting anyone? I will be happy in Heaven watching people happy to buy my treasures. ❤
@@ozzyozzoliumI love your take on it all. It made me laugh. You're right about repeating the stories. 😂 It's so hard to sit through. You can even say that you've heard it before and they STILL tell the whole story! Lol. They should be for you and shared only sometimes when appropriate or there's a wise lesson. Sometimes it's the memories that we try to get rid of by buying "stuff". My take is that until you've had to box up loved ones lives, you just have a different perspective. I do, anyway. When we're alive, it's a good idea to unburden ourselves while were alive and our loved ones when we're gone. What's in the will should be what mattered to them. Everything else should be okay to go to GoodWill, friends or the Garbage. I believe that there can be attachments to things we buy or things that are given to us. We would never know it but by getting rid of everything we don't need and a keeping a few things we want, we should find appropriate places for these excess things. The feeling afterwards is amazing. Hoarding is a sickness...attachments, imo. This is why they rarely recover. A lot to do with buying to stop memories of guilt or not living life how we should have. That energy is very bad & causes more attachments to you & the items energies. Who wants other people's shoes, unless they're new & never been worn. All the garbage that we have & it really is worthless. I would never want an Estate sale! My pictures up for grabs?! My clothes and shoes? Personal things?! No way! If you have things worth a bit of money, sell them now unless they're cherished in the family. It's just heartbreaking seeing people going through deceased people's things and you hear them make fun of the items and what not. No Thanks.
I like all of your random videos. I don’t find this one or any of them boring at all. I really liked the yard sales too. I’m not too crazy about the horror convention ones but I still watch them.
Love the view GIV it does look a little chilly and windy . I hope that hot sausage warmed you up a little... thanks for sharing and don't choke on the smoke.. Lol God bless you ❤🕊🙏🏽
I love your video's you show love in California we don't get to see. I think it's fun and I love how there is always someone that recognizes GIV the Man Yea! TY for letting us tag along ❤
This video of the garage sale makes me think about how each of us also has bought things in our lives that we deemed as important. Even just for the moment. But in a way each of these trinkets had a part of this persons life. It was their “stamp” in the world. However great or small. So even though strangers will now buy it, that person’s memories goes with them. To wherever. It’s a journey. From one pair of hands to another. Think about it……. Still special.
💞 Such a clever idea, GIV! U really know how to 'think-on-ur-feet'🤣 Love the Estate Sale tour & all the beach sites too 👏 When we were lil, Dad would take us on these type of site seeing jaunts, i especially remember the old airport runways. Good times, tkx!👍
Thank you so much for taking us to the estate sale!!! So fun and interesting! Do more of these when you can. Everything you do is so interesting. You have the eye of an artist
There were homes back in the 60-70"s behind Dockweiler beach, One by one they were forced out. Imagine having planes every few minutes take off over your house. It looks more like Tijuana down there than ever, I am happy to have bailed out when I did.
dont feel bad about no one getting your jokes GIV. no one gets my jokes either. i used to think my oldest son was the only person who got my jokes, but i think he was just being polite
Hey GIV, been waiting for a video, can't wait to see what you've been working on. You must have some miles on that bike, but sure beats paying 13 dollar's for parking. G-d bless brother.
Thank you for taking us with you. I loved seeing all the people partying at the beach. Those are some nice RVs. I’m wondering how much it costs to park an RV there.
Those abandoned streets and palm trees were from the Surfridge development started in the 1920's and 3O's. Lots of old Hollywood celebrities and directors lived there. Cecil B DeMille had a home there.
@@germaninvenice when I was a teenager we used to race our cars on one of the streets up there called Thrill Hill. Used to party on the Sandhills at the end of the runway. I think those were a pair of Coach boots you picked up (the ones you thought might be Uggs), which would have been worth a lot of money. Thanks for taking us along, Mike.
Kind of an interesting video. I worked for an auctioneer back in the day. I had a crew that came in and separated all of the stuff and I set it up for the sale. It never got normal going through someone's memories .
You do very well to mix-up your content mike. Didn't realise California had a Gretna Green. I've been to the original Gretna Green in Scotland but not to get married ( which is were couples go to elope)
You’re filming my home, I appreciate that. Been away for almost a year, will be back for 4th of July weekend. Best believe I’ll be at dockweiler enjoying sunset and a bonfire.
Just seeing the people going through stuff at the estate sale was definitely a wake up call for me. I am definitely going to hire help to assist me in going through my storage so I can just start getting rid of everything. I already have stuff set aside in my will that's going to be given to the thrift store and the local libraries, but everything else I'll probably just give to the salvation army. Thanks Mike for taking us to the state beach I had never heard of before. Thats awesome that the guy recognized your voice and you did get your free sausage after all! 😁
Hi Mike!! I like your content and you have great energy keep it up, man!!! The last time I was in Venice was for the 1984 Summer Olympics I went to Venice Beach and I have a Polaroid picture lol!!! When I go to Venice I would like to interview you ...let me know if that is possible because now you are so famous online! 😆 Thanks, GIV!!
I love watching your videos from Australia, and you make me laugh with some of your comments GIV. You have a beautiful smile and a great personality keep up the good work. And my Ancestors came from Germany and i love the accent, but i have never been there.
Always breaks my heart to see family photos on a yard sale for flea market. Who knows if that girl on the picture wasn't her daughter or granddaughter maybe living far away and now these personal memories are ending up either trashed on in an antique store lost of any meaning attached to it. I think there should be a better solution for this in the future because the value of family pictures is far beyond money. Most images exist only once and when they are gone, they are gone forever. It's the most valuable item you can ever own.
I've never seen Brentwood or Dockwhiler Beach before. With that first house estate sale I wonder if they were antique collectors? Some of those things looked really old. You always make it a treat to go to Venice Beach. Always so much going on there and always interesting people watching. It's also my first time seeing a cyborg dog. Good video! Have a good July 4th holiday!

Thanks again for taking us with you in the wonderful adventure of life.

Oh there's some cool old stuff in there. I love the era of Grandma's house. Turn of the century to the 50's. Great fun. The grand era of Hollywood
Another great video by the GiV!

Start by just not buying stuff you don't really need.
Won't make you a happier person anyway. 😉
I tried explaining this to my landlord but strangely enough, he didn't care. 😂
