    Thanks to Kody and his awesome family for inviting my up to "The Miner's Table" in Alaska! Let's get this video to 5,000 likes before Sept 24, 2019 and I'll travel to the Carribean for some Scuba Diving Treasure Hunting!

  •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Shane for coming and visiting. We truly enjoyed the experience and appreciate the opportunity to meet ya and share a bit about what we do. I didn't get to fill your pan with shiney but I hope you had some fun. I checked the rock mill (which we should have done when finished with our run, goodies were inside, pics to come), I did not see any damage or chunks of metal from the mill missing. looked good. I am still perplexed and never seen anything like that b4.
    I gained an additional level of appreciation for what you do and your ability to be Genuine while doing it....I appreciate that. When we were standing at the top of the trail... before heading down to the adit... we took a little stroll down that larger trail.... we were standing feet from what we now call the Rose! Was not expecting this! I am sending you some Rose gold. We were feet from an insane strike!

      Thanks for inviting me up and i'm 100% happy with the trip, again I don't really care about the gold just the experience so even if we had found ounces of gold, I'd still be at 100%! Very nice on the gold strike!

    We had to remake our Trails every year on the West Coast in B.C. Shane . That looks like Home . I'm sure all us West Coast kids from Alaska , BC , Washington , Oregon and maybe a little Northern California all can relate to that kind of Foliage and Terrain . Tks Bud . I worked for Bechtel Construction in the Philippines and I got gold out of the rock pit that they used for the bridge we built over there as it was already claimed by the company, we were not to do this. I'm lucky as I knew the right people and they wanted me happy as well so being a underwater powderman and mechanic they put me in a hot spot and within minutes I held gold in my hands, not a bunch but the mineralogist was there and clarified any doubts I may have then he showed me the gold that he himself worked out. Where we were was poor ground for finding much rock that meets the standards of bridge material. I went back later and got gold with my cast iron skillet method (no cooking oils) and got some more that was a vast improvement over where they took me and it was impressive. Very fine but very real. Large companies are not there to mine, but they have mined the temporary roads and retrieve it so they used it then got it back thing

    How fun you were able to do a little hard rock mining. When I was 15 I worked at a Gypsum mine on a large jaw crusher. I would straddle the crusher if a large boulder fell thru that wouldn't fit into the jaws I'd jack hammer it to pieces. I don't think now a days a 15 year old kid would be allowed to do that as a summer job. Lol Great video, thanks.

    • @Klesh
      @Klesh  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My previous job as a lab tech in a solid fuel testing lab we also had the "chipmunk" crusher we used to smash rocks. If they were too big i'd smash with a hammer and feed it here's a video of it from 2009 i think th-cam.com/video/0efP6zUIlYQ/w-d-xo.html then we'd run it through the hammermill crushers here: th-cam.com/video/ltSZCPMeorg/w-d-xo.html

    IMO it is a taconite pellet in this case. Taconite is a form of iron that is associated with secondary enrichment. Black shale is basically what happens when dark sediment (with high organic content) becomes compressed over time. So, basically, at one point it would have been deposited by a water body. In theory, a meteorite landing in said sediment could potentially remain in the shale after its formation. But since it contains what is likely pyrite, it is most likely taconite that was deposited in the seam during supergene/secondary enrichment of the vein material.

    • @whynotdean8966
      @whynotdean8966 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wouldn't pyrite have released sulfur compounds when he added the HCl? If so the smell would have been hard to miss.

    • @ammobake
      @ammobake 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Correction on my post - the taconite ore is actually formed into ball form during the milling process. it doesn't occur naturally in pellet form. So...SHRUG. Would be cool to know it's composition tho.

    Based on the geology of the area you're in and the color of that nugget of metal you found I suggest it could be tungsten.

    • @ClearAdventure
      @ClearAdventure 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have heard tungsten glows under a black light, is that true?

    • @Klesh
      @Klesh  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it was too hard to be tungsten. It was hard, but not as hard as steel when cutting it with the hacksaw.

    • @ModernProspector
      @ModernProspector 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Klesh Perhaps you could do a streak test and then test the specific gravity.

    • @ModernProspector
      @ModernProspector 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ClearAdventure I've heard of tungsten impurities in other minerals causing fluorescence but the pure metal itself I'm not sure if it's fluorescent. Fun fact: The US military played around with the idea of using large tungsten rods dropped from space as a kinetic weapon called Rods from God. The potential kinetic power would be nearly the equivalent of a small nuclear weapon but without the spread of radiation.

    • @ClearAdventure
      @ClearAdventure 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ModernProspector I have heard of the "Rods from God" but did not know they were Tungsten. But that makes perfect sense due to the specific gravity and ability to withstand our atmosphere better than many other things. Porcelain coated would be crazy, and like you said, hit with the kinetic energy of a meteor/A- bomb!
      So it was the Tungsten mixed with _impurities_ that caused the fluorescence, interesting, because that is most likely how it would be found in nature. It does make me think I should take a black light at night near river beds or streams just for fun. 😉👍
