I did spin when I played with steering wheel without FFB, after I bought G29, I improve a lot my driving, never spin, save tyres and save fuel, it's a way more fun, serious, good and a must have FFB on wheel
Once you get used to no TC you will never go back, and I'm not just talking about F1 games but other games and sims in general. Now, I drive with a controller so I'm still slow, but I'm a lot faster than what I would be if I used TC.
I agree and not even for the speed, the experience is just so much better. You are controlling the car a lot more, getting to feel the limit, makes you feel like an actual racer. It can be very frustrating at first especially with contoller, that's why most people don't even try, but once you get used to it, it's like you've discovered a new world.
@@yordanmalinov6419 Exactly, playing with controller takes away from the immersion so much already, that's why I like to have as much control over the car as possible, to keep the little immersion I have left. If spinning and being generally slower than wheel users is the price I have to pay for a more realistic experience, then so be it.
I start a new game with all assists off. It's easier to get used to the game once than have to get used to it two, three, or four times as you progressively remove assists. I know people who start racing games with automatic transmission and even after they get good (which is extremely easy in automatic) they are too scared to switch. It's like I'm racing with kids who still have their training wheels on. lol
Pretty sure they were saying that about F1 2019 and it was raining as well. They were commenting how unrealistic they were getting wheelspin even in 4th gear in the wet. I haven't played 2021 but as you can see in this video, you can go full throttle and never spin out on medium.. . That is not realistic. Even cars with factory TCS (like GT3 cars) you can still spin out with too much throttle
@@jamiefookes1579 I watched the video. It was specifically about the rain physics. Either way I've been playing F1 22 with no TCS and no ABS and it's pretty decent on the realism. It's no iRacing or RFactor2 but I can go play iRacing Mercedes W12 2021 and turn jump on F1 22 and it's not that much of an adjustment.
I have tried using No TC ever since I started playing 2021, compared to 2020 I feel the handling model allows the use of No TC more. However I have noticed some strange quirks of this game, first is the random loss of traction when leaving a traction zone its unpredictable and just happens. Second is there is a difference with the engines, Merc engine has a sudden burst of torque at lower revs, while honda is linear. Anyways my struggle with No TC is the random snaps you get that just lead into a full spin. Could it be throttle linearity?
I think I would recommend just sticking with it as throttle linearity will make it more „unnatural“ - will upload a no TC tutorial + tips and tricks Video tomorrow 🤝
@@MarcelKiefer what about real life F1 cars, are they also tunable in the same way with all these throttle linearity stuff or is that just for game? PS: any particular reason you go into all those slow corners in 3rd/4th gear instead of 2nd? I noticed car spins if accelerating too fast from hairpins in 2nd gear or lower (Ferrari, didn't try other cars)
Nice! Without TC I definitely struggle in slow corners like in portugal or any hairpin actually xD Also setup tips would be nice because I don't know if the setup from time trial leaderboards are good if I first need to learn driving without TC.
TT setups are a good start, but they set up the car to be really on the edge and thus, it is easy to make the car unstable. My general rule of thumb for a good race setup is to use the TT setup but set the wings one or two clicks higher, and lower the suspension. Not suspension geometry, but suspension. Most TT setups use LOW/HIGH suspension to get the car pointy, like 1-7, 1-7, 2-7. Lower the HIGH numbers a bit to gain a bit more stability as you see fit or raise the LOW numbers, so like 2-6, 2-6, 3-6. (Just an example). TT setups are good in a pinch, but if you find yourself racing against anyone with actual skill, you might be able to keep up for the first few laps, but either your tires will wear out way faster than them, or you will end up losing time due to multiple incidents destabilizing the car with a twitchy TT setup. TT setups are good in TT because it sets the car to be fastest through the track at the cost of stability. You also don't need to worry about dirty air, tire wear, etc. But in regards to TC, it doesn't matter what your setup is. Obviously having higher rear wing will help with traction, but then you suffer at tracks where a lower rear wing would benefit you in the race.
I started playing F1 with TC but after a month of practicing with it off, applying the right amount of throttle through certain turns and short shifting feels like second nature.
Great content man. If you keep this up you'll be at 100k in no time. Thanks for helping! I like the idea you had in another video to do track guides and show braking points and tips. Keep up the good work man.
In real life there is maximum traction when the tire actually is at a certain amount of wheel slip. Also the fastest racers like Michael Schumacher were masters of controlled drifts and controlling oversteer which ultimately makes you faster around the track.
Decided to buy a cockpit and racing wheels in the end of the month to really focus on getting better and turning assists off, but I'll definetly try putting traction control on medium until then, I loose so damn much time on the exits vs the AI. Great video Edit: Tried medium Traction around Sotchi for 10 laps or so on training and felt a difference at once, so I decided to try no Traction at all and it feels like the car shoots out of a rocket on exits. Its still a bit hard to judge when you can floor the power but I feel more comfortable with it every lap. I've had a hard time making Q2 in My Team on 90 AI difficulty but now I qualified in second all of a sudden. Thanks.
I have searched for such a video the enitre last month. But nobody explained the benefits of no traction control / time loss gained. Thank you for the video

Yes next video please! and then in particular corner one of Bahrein. Getting usefull info from your videos man and it helped me improve💪 deffintly getting better without tc
New to F1 games but this is the last assist I’m having trouble with. I have everything off but medium traction. When I take it off I spin at some point in my medium races.
its all about getting used to slowly accelerating and learning how the car behaves. Also when coming out of a slow corner try to early shift up to 3 or 4
I made the switch recently and I imagine there is a egg under my gas peddle that I’m trying not to crush coming out of corners. That helped me a lot with being lighter on the throttle
I find these comparisons a bit missleading because you can't drive the same way when you have TC on or OFF. With medium TC you still can apply enough throttle to spin but the car will do it in a more controlled way. I mostly do time trial aiming at top 5-10% in the rankings in each track and I usually can get the same times with TC off and TC medium after a few laps. My advice is if you are very inconsistent or you are learning a new track, use the TC on medium. Turn it off when you start to do 4-5 laps without mistakes.
For all the Fanatec users out there, get yourself a throttle damper! Night and day difference. I was dependent on TC until last night.... When I finally installed my damper and wow! Instantly driving with no more assists! (I only had TC left to wean anyway)
I would like to know how big the influence is if you turn the automatic gearbox on. I think with automatic gearbox, the advantage of turning traction control of is lower.
just a reminder that back in F1 2019, real F1 drivers played the game _with_ traction control because it felt more like the real cars. and now, people complain that it's somehow slower. makes perfect sense, have fun sitting in the gravel traps.
A 1:27.520 on full TC Versus my best on zero TC: 1:27.743 This made me realise how shit I really am without any traction controll, tempted to go back to using medium traction controll, because I'm atrociously bad at throttle management I'm on a wheel as well which I've been using since August of 2021 to get more in-depth with driving, what can I possibly do to overcome the throttle management issues?
honestly, since i used notc my times have gotten way better it takes practice because i used to spin out all day because of it but now im able to control throttle inputs. Something i still struggle with is abs
no abs is technically slightly faster if you do it perfect every time, but if you mess it up you lose so much time. imo turning abs isnt worth it unless you have to in a league ofc
I started with traction control then I stopped using traction control because of videos like this but then I found out actually you should be using traction control so now I use it again and am faster. They literally use traction control in real life. I encourage everyone you just found this video and thought it was a great stroke of luck to look into why actually you should use traction control
Love this video Thanks for posting. Think you could do one on Race starts? I’m having a hard time on F1 2021 to get off line good. 2020 I was good but this year I lose two to four spots a race.
I’m not saying That TC is better than No TC as we know it is better without. However, in this video he upshifts super early in every corner with TC versus medium or No TC, therefore the lap time is going to be better.
Would you recommend learning to use manual gears before turning traction control off? I thought maybe this would be helpful to short shift in places but wasn't sure if using no traction control with auto gears is still fine
Its unreal how much TC slows you haha,i've tried with medium first went down near 5 tents faster in first lap and until i've got hang off it fully went down -1 point smth which was awesome,i've tried with fully off but i have difficulties adjusting with throttle pressure on controller i feel like if i had steering wheel(which i plan to buy soon T300 RS)i'd have better perception on how much i should tap it based on real life experience but it seems more fun indeed 😁
You are with High, medium and off traction control changing gears not in this same method. Like in Hight Traction Control you having 7 gear longer and on medium traction control you not hold on 7 gear and with off traction control on corner you changing from 3 to 4/5 and then doing throotle. So this times can be better with traction controls when you will drive on this same gears changings like in traction control off.
My issue is my wheel/pedals. I don’t have any feedback into the pedals so I cannot feel the threshold. I can hardly give any pedal at all and will still spin out. It’s like all or nothing on the pedals and I just cannot afford to dish out over a grand for good wheel/pedal set
I'm using a controller, and it's not too bad with the traction control medium, but sometimes, if it spins, if you force it too much after a corner. I not sure about traction control off? I do have a gaming steering wheel, but I need a better table.
New to F1 games but this is the last assist I’m having trouble with. I have everything off but medium traction. When I take it off I spin at some point in my medium races.
its all about getting used to slowly accelerating and learning how the car behaves. Also when coming out of a slow corner try to early shift up to 3 or 4
Will upload a tips and tricks/tutorial video tomorrow!
I made the switch recently and I imagine there is a egg under my gas peddle that I’m trying not to crush coming out of corners. That helped me a lot with being lighter on the throttle
Great Video. Would love to see a video on how to set up your car in the wet and how to drive in the wet.
Will do!:)
Love this Marcel. I might have to take the plunge but very worried about crashing!
I believe in you 👊❤️
@@MarcelKiefer you sir, are a legend. Would love to see you go through your preferred wheel base settings in a vid? 🙏🏾🥂
4:58 gut nachgemacht😂
Tolles Video.👍
😂😂
I am driving with a Keyboard an I only use Medium TC because of Speed Advantages! 🙂
If I had Wheel and Pedals I wouldn't use any Assists at All!
That‘s even impressive! I can‘t drive without assists on keyboard either 😂
@@MarcelKiefer I tried F1 2021 in Jeddah as my First Attempt of a Race in the Game and Holy Moly It was Hard 😅
btw 25k congratulations!!
Thank you:)
I think with automatic gearbox, the advantage of turning traction control of is lower.
you only lose some tenths with automatic but with full TC compared to No TC you lose 1,5 secs!!
just a reminder that back in F1 2019, real F1 drivers played the game _with_ traction control because it felt more like the real cars.
and now, people complain that it's somehow slower. makes perfect sense, have fun sitting in the gravel traps.
If you are begginer, start with TC, but after some time try to lower it to medium and at the end turn it off.
Danke MK! 🤞🏽✔️
You can definitely spin with both full and medium traction control.
great video Marcel, I'm learning a lot from you, keep it up
❤️🙏
A 1:27.520 on full TC
Versus my best on zero TC: 1:27.743
This made me realise how shit I really am without any traction controll, tempted to go back to using medium traction controll, because I'm atrociously bad at throttle management
I'm on a wheel as well which I've been using since August of 2021 to get more in-depth with driving, what can I possibly do to overcome the throttle management issues?
Same. I've used no tc for months n only get 1:27:7
One day I want to compete in F1 Esports I don't a steering wheel and stuff but love the videos ❤
You will get there!
@@MarcelKiefer thanks for the motivation
great tips! now i can spin in every corner with my keyboard!
honestly, since i used notc my times have gotten way better it takes practice because i used to spin out all day because of it but now im able to control throttle inputs. Something i still struggle with is abs
Cooles Video.
After booking my car into every single wall on Monaco I can now drive like Aryton Senna. Thank you sir.
Will you do career mode videos?
Yes!:)
could u compare abs and no abs
I use no abs and I want to know if im losing lap time not using it
no abs is technically slightly faster if you do it perfect every time, but if you mess it up you lose so much time. imo turning abs isnt worth it unless you have to in a league ofc
Will do, I think ABS is faster!
ahhhh tks marcel, can u do a video explaining how to do your own setup? plsss 👊
Yes!
Thx!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Just started using it and i had a 20 sec advantage Amazing!
The main thing about racing is to understand whats wrong and whats right --
Marcel Kiefer 2022
👴😎
Please do a video about ABS. Btw, lovely video and keep up the good work Marcel!
Will do!:)
You can still shift manually with automatic turned on. Yeah you'll notice a difference when its raining - its better to shift early in gears 1,2,3..
"you can hear it it's like eeeeeEEEEHHHH it's not EEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHH it's like eeeeeeEEEEEEHHH it's vibrating"
-Marcel Kiefer, 2022
Only if mazespin had TC...
Hey! It would be very useful if you do a video like this speaking about ABS assist. Thanks!
Will do:)
You are with High, medium and off traction control changing gears not in this same method. Like in Hight Traction Control you having 7 gear longer and on medium traction control you not hold on 7 gear and with off traction control on corner you changing from 3 to 4/5 and then doing throotle. So this times can be better with traction controls when you will drive on this same gears changings like in traction control off.
your game looks entirely different to mine, are you using low gfx or something specific to help get a clearer picture?
My issue is my wheel/pedals. I don’t have any feedback into the pedals so I cannot feel the threshold. I can hardly give any pedal at all and will still spin out. It’s like all or nothing on the pedals and I just cannot afford to dish out over a grand for good wheel/pedal set
What was the break differential you had again please ☺️
I'm a controller user so medium TC was always fitting for me.. the only time I ran with full TC was the bullshit 2014 game
I'm using a controller, and it's not too bad with the traction control medium, but sometimes, if it spins, if you force it too much after a corner. I not sure about traction control off?
I do have a gaming steering wheel, but I need a better table.
Thank you, these vids are very helpful
Glad to hear :)
Awesome, I always play with no TC, but since now i use a controller, i am using TC for now
Thanks for making that video
Thanks for watching it!
Is this the camera setting, that you have in the Camera Setting Video at the start before trying out different Settings
Yes, but I‘m always playing around trying to optimize them a tiny bit more:)
Good to know, my question about it, how to master the exist without spin using max rotation ? and also off subject, how to properly brake without lock a wheel ?
3rd and congrats on 25k subscribers
Thank you :))
I struggle in the low speed corners it's difficult to gain back your speed .
Marcel great content! Please do this on ABS because in the game seems OP
ABS makes your breaking distance longer, thus not OP. If you can break always on the limit to locking, you'll get the best breaking.
@@Rasmus3377 in simulators It Is true of course. But if you see the TT leaderboards there are plenty of ABS players in top positions
@@francescopesaresi2573 Jarno Opmeer actually tried every assist. ABS was only +0.1 sec. Video name: How Much Slower Is Using Assists On F1 2021?, Time: 21:54
@@Rasmus3377 seen It. He also said with practice Is equal to ABS off. The problem Is that It Is too Easy with ABS on and not many have the skill of Jarno (also the pedals maybe)
Will do!
Hi good information video , I am new to playing f1 so good video to watch thanks do you have a video to play f1 21 with manual gears ?
That was fun... I'll try this on mobile game
Can you make video for your controller settings please?😊 :-)
Regarding the wheel? If not I have to ask a controller expert :)
@@MarcelKiefer I don't want to bother you but I really want quality video with controller settings:)
@@MarcelKiefer At the moment I don't need steering wheel:)
MK: nobody uses brake bias at 50
TRL Limitless: ...
Could you please do ABS as well, I know the theory's etc. but still fail
On it 👊
great review, I am a typical put game in the playstation and drive what's in front of me kinda player so now will give tweaking the settings around a little to begin with.
cheers again 😉👍
Woody
I drove on full tc all the time but after seeing the video i just turned it off completele wich gave me trouble for a couple of days to get used to but now i am like 1.5-2 sec faster on a lap and finally beat my friend in quali on our 2 player career mode
I will stop using tc now, thanks man🤩
Live your energy man, also this game on controler is so cringe and yet thats the only way i can play it :(
Pls do a vid on ABS.
Will do!:)
TC isn't about slamming the throttle to 100% and letting the game save you though, you still try to drive with the same throttle inputs as without, it's just a safety net for consistency for those who can't consistently apply smooth throttle inputs.
Personally, I play seriously but not too seriously, because I mainly want to have fun
So a minimum of TC and ABS I always put in.
Cheers Marcel turned it off and crashed into every wall in the game 😂😂😭
