  • In this video, I convert my old e30 from the dual pump setup to a single in tank walbro.
    Update: the Walbro seems to be working great. Cars idled for a good 15 min then I took it on an hour round trip. I have no more bogging or sputtering under a load. Definitely worth the effort. Plus, now if my fuel pump fails, I only have one and no longer have to trouble shoot to see which one failed.

    Im doing this same thing to my Volvo tonight ... My buddy has the same single walboro 255 on his 16v turbo and it rips with no problems .

    I'm hoping this works on my 87 e30, it has rough idle after 5min and really sounds like it will stall. Where did you buy the fittings to delete the pump? Also very good video

      I picked the fittings up at a local hardware store. Most will carry these.
      Thanks!

    So how did it end up holding? I am in the process of changing my oem fuel pump aswell. My crap stalled while driving and sometimes start up is abit harsh lol. I have felt some loss of power while driving/rolling . I am almost 100% it’s the fuel pump. So what is the purpose of the external fuel pump?🤔

      Did you also chang out the fuel filter?🤔 and if you could can you give me the size specs of that coupling you used to delete the external pump

      So far so good. Over 1000 miles and 100% better than stock. The oem in tank pump is for low pressure priming and the external oem is for high pressure. The fittings are 3/8 barb with 3/8 threaded female and 3/8 threaded mailed to 5/16 barb.

      Also, check the connection at you MAF plug. This fuel pump mod fixed 90% of my problems but I also had small amount of corrosion on the pins causing high rpm stumbles

    Is that sound in the car the fuel pump? It’s so loud I am getting an early model e30 that doesn’t run and I have a strong feeling it’s the pump. I was gonna do this swap but that seemed so annoying am I just trippin?

    • @TwistedGripGarage
      @TwistedGripGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the annoying noise you hear is the factory door buzzer... the walbro is quiet.

    Any trouble with the zip ties or foam coming apart from exposure to the fuel?

    Hello , i hope you could answer to this 🙏 . I got an e30 with a M50b25 swap . Can i do the same on it with the same fuel pump ?
    Thank you so much .

    • @TwistedGripGarage
      @TwistedGripGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. The 255 should supply enough fuel to run the M50. If you are not sure, you can always go up in fuel pump. The E30 is a return system so the regulator just sends any extra fuel back into the tank.

    Quick question I have an 86’325e with the m50b25 swap and I’ve been having the same stalling problem. Do I delete the external fuel pump and just run it from the one inside to the bottom or do I get a fitting like how you did and bridge it from the bottom ? I’ve already changed my internal fuel pump but I’m getting a weird buzzing noise from the bottom and it stalls out on me

    • @TwistedGripGarage
      @TwistedGripGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's hard to say without seeing the car in person and diagnosing it. Basically, deleting your external pump and swapping the in tank pump to a walbro, you eliminate that as a possible cause of your issue. I'd also recommend you get a fuel pressure gauge and see what the pressure is at the rail.

      Okay I just wanted to ask have you had any problems since the modifications?

    • @TwistedGripGarage
      @TwistedGripGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not. I am in the process of swapping the engine. I'm going from the m10 to the m42 so I doubt the walbro will have any problems fueling it.

      @@TwistedGripGarage yea I have a m50b25 swap so I’m praying it’ll work I just deleted that secondary pump and now I’m about to use the same fittings you used and I’m going to Teflon tape it as well 🤞🏾🤞🏾

    Did you ran a new high pressure fuel line from tank to the filter?

    • @TwistedGripGarage
      @TwistedGripGarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No. The line on mine was already a high pressure line.

    Would this method work on a 325 e early model too?

    • @TwistedGripGarage
      @TwistedGripGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This will work on any e30 with the dual pump set up.

    would this set up also work with a walbro 450lhp?

    • @TwistedGripGarage
      @TwistedGripGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe so. Some of the install would be a bit different but overall it would be the same process.

      I'm really not sure. Maybe slight difference in the length you need to trim off the hanger.

    Which 255 model is it? 340, 341, or 342?

    • @TwistedGripGarage
      @TwistedGripGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a 341. Any intank 255 will work though. I went with the cheapest. It was 60 or 70 bucks.
