Great interview. I lost Mr.Baru at 1:00:40 when he says that Hindus need to have more tolerance and accept other religions. He also spoke about the need to address Caste. The latter is a work in progress and I believe we have done a lot from a societal, legal and governmental point of view, although more needs to be done. I disagree entirely on the issue of religious intolerance. Religious intolerance is at the core of all Abrahamic religions. It is their way or the highway. The rise of Hindutva is a response to the rise of pseudo-secularism and appeasement / vote bank politics. Indian tolerance does not come from the Constitution but from the core values of Hinduism
All upper caste Hindus want to settle in the West especially the US which is dominated by Abrahamic religion. How many Hindus are persecuted there or temples burnt down? Neither are the Hindus put to any difficulties in Arab countries. Can you say the same about our country. What is happening in Manipur is a classic example. Hundreds of churches have been burnt and thousands displaced. Two women were gangraped and paraded naked. And, you have the audacity to say intolerence is at the core of Abrahamic religion and Hinduism is all about tolerance.
@@jacobcheriyan ...it is not just the so called upper caste Hindus who want to settle in the West, but anyone who is educated and who gets a chance to migrate does so. Amongst the Hindus the Upper castes have had the advantage of having access to better schooling, etc. No doubt about that one. When I talked about the inbuilt intolerance of Abrahamic religions, I was looking at the issue through the prism of history. The depredations that native populations all around the globe have suffered at the hands of Christianity and Islam is astounding. It took 50 years for the vatican to pass a papal edict back in the 16th century that the natives of Latin America were humans with a soul. Until that time they had been hunted down ike animals and were raped, pillaged and killed at will. Then we have our own Portugese pograms along the West Coast of India. You, if i may hazard a guess, are a product of those very inquisitions and conversions. Yes, I am not physically harmed in my new home in the west, but subtle and not so subtle discrimination continues to exist, especially in small towns. And the underlying basis for this discrimination and othering is faith. Because I don't follow the "One true Lord" !!! I have been told that openly. Mr. Cheriyan....you cannot deny the fact that salvation according to Christianity is through Jesus and no one else. Everyone else is destined to go to hell. This may not be shouted from pulpits in modern times, but no one has come out and repudiated that principle. The same applies to Islam. Anyone not believing in Allah and his prophet is a kafir and will burn eternally in hellfire. Especially those who are Mushriks (idolaters). There is no sin worse than idol worship! Islam has taken the First Commandment of the Old Testament to a new level! It is in this context that I said what I said. In contrast, Hinduism has varied ways of worship. You can worship The Divine in form, without form, in a feminine or masculine form or animal forms. Pure paganism, but it works. Find me a statement like "The truth is one but the wise describe it in different ways" in the old or new Testament or the Quran!. A Shaivite does not go out and hack a Vaishnavite or a Shakta and vice versa. It was in this context that I said that Hinduism is tolerant. Not in the French sense of Liberte, Fraternite and Egalite (pardon me for not being able to type the diacritical marks). Hopefully, you get a sense of the source of my audacity!! Best....
@jatinderbhan , we're talking about contemprory times and not olden days. Every religion has its share of dark history and hinduism is not an exception. Don't you know wars between Shaivites vs Vaishnavites? Each sect believed the more number of garlands made with the skulls of other sect was a mark of chivalry. This was before the Brits its brought them under the umbrella of Hinduism. Discrimination, untouchability casteism is still rampant in Hinduism. You are offended by remarks made by some presumably in the country you live in. You subtly mentioned that people of upper caste have had the advantage of better schooling. Agree. But for centuries you guys did not allow other castes even to educate themselves. Even today we're sharply divided by casteism. Does persecution and burning of places of worship happen in other countries like what is happening in our country. You were silent about that question, Sir. Another point I would like to make is, Christianity is older than it is in the West. To believe Christianity came to india only after the invasion of Portuguese or after East India company is just figment of the imagination of many. The religion in India is as old as the religion itself. St. Thomas came to our country in the first century itself. There are seven and a half churches built by him in Kerala and San Thome Church which is a Basilica are evidences. Before that we were all Hindus too. There is a saying, Indians are truth seekers. We accepted Christianity because we found the truth. Accept what you said that Christianity believes Jesus is the only way to salvation. Yes. All others said this is the way and that is the way. Whereas He's the only one who said, "I am the way'. "Nobody goes to the Father except by me". I am the bread and life". He's the only one who preached love and gave His life so that we can live. He was willing to forgive even the ones who mocked, whipped and crucified Him. Even at the point if death, He prayed, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do". He did not carry any lethal weapons like how many Gods are depicted. His preaching, practising and demonstration of love was so overwhelming that we succumbed to His love. His preaching ministry is what brought education and His healing ministry brought healthcare to all without any discrimination which was unheard of until then. Can any other religious groups say they were the first ones to start destitute homes or orphanages? How many started treating lepers? Mother Terea's service in Calcutta and the demonstration of her love for destitues, poor and the marginalised is unparalleled. Her only intention was to give destitues dignity in death. From your reply and from your dignified language, I believe you are a person of conscience and compassion. The issue that I highlited is the persecution happening in our country which has escalated under the presesent dispensation. If such incidents are happening in other parts of the world it is equally condemnable. Dr. Baru was fine with slow growth and happy with free speech because he never had to sleep hungry. If he had lived in poverty for real, his thoughts would be much different. Free speech is a liberty we all deserve. But Hunger, misery, poverty are brutal reality.
Mr Baru is an opportunist. He wanted to sell his book so he took a swipe at the very man who backed him and gave a weapon to the BJP to attack Dr MMS. He is now saying he does not like Modi’s politics and sounding soft on Congress. Absolute Opportunist!
I think, the same trolls he was complaining about but he completely condoned you; because he is targeting trollers from BJP, which means his all concerns of FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION is for himself not for others. He also said that its immaterial that India's Economy during 2011-2014 was called as 'FRAGILE FIVE', AVG INFLATION WAS double digit & went upto as high as 11.1% but as long as American President appreciates Dr MMS not for his job but his turban, Dr MMS should continue

Hey Barkha Di, I've got to be honest - I used to think you were one of those reporters with biases and skewed perspectives, thanks to some not-so-great experiences with your news media. I've always preferred news outlets that keep it real, presenting facts without pushing any hidden agendas. But since stumbling upon your TH-cam show, I've genuinely enjoyed your videos. Keep up the great work and stay independent!
Physical Infra, Digital Infra - On both these counts, the transformation of India since 2014 is beyond imagination. There are other areas that have seen transformation - 2004-14 hardly any defence procurement happened and in specific instances like Air force squadrons kept depleting - neither MMRCA not LCA moved, now both are adding squadrons (this was just an example but is true of many other areas of defence procurement)
By 2014 India was already among top 10 economies growing at the fastest rate. All this Govt did is to screw up some of it through meaningless steps like demonetization.

At 01:00:58 what Mr Baru is saying is quite relevant to anyone who is raised in an elite environment. He has not seen ground reality where all Religions are equal in just on text books. He does not understand or maybe does not address the basic issue of radicalism in religion.
1) full credit to Mr Modi / Mr Shah for being perfect judge of people and their characters , who has to be given a position and who has to be ignored , 2) The Indian left ( pre 2014 people in power were all left ) cannot digest that the Hindu / Sanatn Dharam middle class is asserting itself they’d rather have them buy Bollywood tickets and vote broken to throw up coalition nonsense 3) India is growing because of Hindu majority , maximum tax payers are Hindus , beware of those who will divide Hindus on the basis of language and region. 4) His political acume is either compromised or faulty if he thinks Bharat Jodi was a water shed ! Recent elections results prove that ,
Mr. Baru fails to understand the difference in India from Nehru, Indira and MMS times. Indians these days don't take preachings from the west lying down. That is the main reason Obama was bashed. It has nothing to do with Hindutva.
55:30 Extremely naive by Baru ji (great respect to him, no sarcasm) that he is ignoring the major feature of the Bharat Jodo yaatra. Touching the ground he says. It is not correct, the yaatra was done with as luxurious as possible that none in Bharat can imagine. I'm not sure even Ambani and Adani would have done that luxuriously the Bharat Yaatra. RaGa has to just show some response to the trolls of him Silver spoon born by doing Yaatra on the ground.
One of Khan Market Gang. He fails to praise the developments in Infrastructure, Railways, Metro Roads, Toilets, DBT, Nal Se Jal when asked about Modi’s successes. He himself accepts that Darbar has been dismantled what else do we need? Modi’s re-election was not only because of Pulwama it was because of promise of Vikas and only Vikas. Ascribing Hindutva as the only reason for Modi’s success is non-sense. Modi has emerged as a leader!! Lastly why should majority Hindu India would be proud of a Sikh PrimeMinister, a Muslim President and a Christian leader of Majority party. This can be a anomaly. But if it becomes a norm then all the Hindu’s of India are again enslaved!!!! This won’t be acceptable. Brahmins who join Communist Parties no longer remain Brahmins :) It’s a law of nature and human’s survival instinct to protect your own traditions, your values, your cultures and make it grow. Only because of Hindu’s like you Hinduism was enslaved multiple times. We have to learn from our own history and not allow this to happen ever.

Freedom that he had to mention the book and title to Manmohan Sir or his family is at little price paid by every citizen now. What an actual accident!!
Dr Manmohan’s issue was managing coalition dynamics on one side and congress leadership on the other side. He is an academic not a leader he is not cutout for electoral politics. Therein lies his fall. Otherwise Dr MMS is the most learned man in India. Just look at the number of universities that have conferred a doctorate degree to him.
An academic is a highly rational person. He should have manned up and resigned instead of taking the humiliation. Can you even see Congress tom toming MMS era achievements.
I hope GOI bans regional parties from contesting elections. Only congress or BJP should fight the Lok Sabha elections atleast, india needs a full majority strong government
Bhimsen Joshi is from North Karnataka and Balamurli Krishnan never got Bharat Ratna. One important economy theme he didn’t discuss was India’s deft handling of post COVID economy. Contrast this against how Pranab Mukherjee made a mess of economy through two fiscal stimuli and easy money policy post 2008 crisis. India had double digit inflation, very low gdp growth and high fiscal deficit.

It isn’t 20% criticism😂. It’s the other way round. Good that BJP understood once a traitor, always one. So they never showed any interest in him.
Dr. Baru was fine with slow growth and happy with free speech because he never had to sleep hungry.
If he had lived in poverty for real, his thoughts would be much different.
Free speech is a liberty we all deserve. But Hunger, misery, poverty are brutal reality.
Ye sala singapur ka citizenship le liya hai
in last 9 yers your hunger has been solved with a pathetic 5.5% growth?
Mr Baru is an opportunist. He wanted to sell his book so he took a swipe at the very man who backed him and gave a weapon to the BJP to attack Dr MMS. He is now saying he does not like Modi’s politics and sounding soft on Congress. Absolute Opportunist!
So true
I think, the same trolls he was complaining about but he completely condoned you; because he is targeting trollers from BJP, which means his all concerns of FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION is for himself not for others. He also said that its immaterial that India's Economy during 2011-2014 was called as 'FRAGILE FIVE', AVG INFLATION WAS double digit & went upto as high as 11.1% but as long as American President appreciates Dr MMS not for his job but his turban, Dr MMS should continue
This is not opportunism
In fact, the Congress party had forgotten MMS in the election campaign till Sonia Gandhi suddenly said he should be campaigning, too.
Somewhere he revived the public's interest in Dr Manmohan Singh.
@@WorkWizdomNo one can forget a statesman and great leader leader like Shri. Singh who not only brought rapid development through outstanding policy measures but was INClusive.
It was his health which kept him away from active campaigning. The greatest loss to our Nation is him not coming back in 2014.
@@FreddieMurphy746 I have similar opinion and even worse about your leader.
It is such a wise and enlightening interview. Only a man with convictions can be so forthright. His understanding of Indian politics, sense of humor, and decency make this interview a treat.
Mr Barua the fact is that India is Hindu majority country that is why all diverse people can coexist
My respect for Barkha has certainly been on the rise lately after watching these interviews . I love how she’s clearly objective about the conversation and calls out the hypocrisy of Mr. Baru at certain instances.
U follow barkha for unbiasedness???😂😂 U should check your conscience it is at the wrong place
@@Python489 not at all.. that’s what I’m trying to say. I haven’t forgotten her vile and propaganda filled journalism in the past.. maybe that’s the reason this interview was a surprise to me as well.. a pleasant one moreover.. I think these interviews might be her redemption arc. Loved the one with Mr Poonawalla as well.
@@24vishwas i think she hasnt changed..u can see in the interview with shehzad she tries to push her propaganda of secularism and prove hindus are wrong
i agree bro
Excellent Chat. People should see the interview.
Two media beneficiaries of earlier regime chatting about their profitable past and bleak future.
Perfectly correct
Very true.
💯
😂
Nice, Insightful Podcast 👍
Very right about the winning Vote share. BJP has 30% committed Voters now , but the Swing vote of 8-10% Crucial for Lok sabha Seats
Insightful Interview !!
Without economic reform done by vajpayee ji. Mr Singh's first team should have been a disaster like his second term .. All credit should go to vajpayee ji for doing economic reform which reap the benefits to Mr Singh .. Infact no big reform done except nuclear deal
Well said
Thanks Mr Baru, you have put across your clear agenda
Enjoyed the interview very much. I’ve grown up writing essays in school on India’s basic principle of unity in diversity so I’m quite perplexed about all attempts to separate and confuse us.
I liked him before this interview.
He is saying that India’s standing internationally is at lowest currently.
Whereas everyone knows that India’s standing internationally has never been better in past than what it is now.
Look at relations with US, Russia, France, Middle East, Japan, Australia, Indian subcontinent
Indiannpolicy was of a beggar during congress timeslol and
As some1 who has travelled outside India since 2007, I completely agree with you. I have had questions being asked from me in 2007 as if I was not from India but from the Dark ages. And in 2023 visit everyone wanted to know about Digital payments and Covid Vaccine and Chandrayaan3.
Modi to Manmohan, what is my first thought?
Manmohan : Silence of a wiseman
Modi: Silence of a culprit.
Don't you remember AP bifurcation? Clashes, riots and deaths ?
Anyways, who asked for your thoughts? Haha😂...
Get ready for another disappointment in 2024.
MMS silence was Maino induced.
Just because his dad worked with p v narsimha rao this buffon became a media advisor to chithiya prime minister manmohan singh
Pakistani Handle
Barkha is completely changed. Very balanced. Just asking questions no propaganda at all..
Pls do more podcast with 👉 Authors, Journalist's , Business People. 👍
Very engrossing discussion /interview
Barkha sound (music) is too loud,blaring...not soothing to ears but hurting the ears incontrast to your inelligent, intellectual interviews.
Ihope u do the needed correction/ change
Excellent enlighten ing debate with Sanjay Baru.
After a long time I liked barkha Dutts toned down style and was interesting and asking relevant questions. For first time I did not hear any hatred with present government and past government criticism. Overall barkha will start watching you more and make more relevant content
Even BJP supporters would agree that as Mojo story she is doing very good as a journalist. She has become more independent.
Clearly shows Baru’s bias…He is trying to correct his past wrong doings….Have started to love Barkha’s objective journalism…❤
Hey Barkha Di,
I've got to be honest - I used to think you were one of those reporters with biases and skewed perspectives, thanks to some not-so-great experiences with your news media. I've always preferred news outlets that keep it real, presenting facts without pushing any hidden agendas.
But since stumbling upon your TH-cam show, I've genuinely enjoyed your videos. I appreciate how you approach interviews with a neutral stance, covering both sides of the story. I'm glad to admit that I was wrong about my initial impressions of you.
Keep up the great work and stay independent!
Excellent interview??
Physical Infra, Digital Infra - On both these counts, the transformation of India since 2014 is beyond imagination.
There are other areas that have seen transformation - 2004-14 hardly any defence procurement happened and in specific instances like Air force squadrons kept depleting - neither MMRCA not LCA moved, now both are adding squadrons (this was just an example but is true of many other areas of defence procurement)
By 2014 India was already among top 10 economies growing at the fastest rate. All this Govt did is to screw up some of it through meaningless steps like demonetization.
@@lspforindia Just plot graphs of total expressway kms, total internet users, total electrified track kms, total bank accounts etc. and check if what you see is a secular 70 yr trend of growth in physical and 20-25 yr trend in digital infrastructure...if it is so, then your point holds. If the graph changes shape after 2014, then educate yourself better
Reservations should have never existed, was appeasement given about the UPA government
What do you mean Sushma Swaraj was ejected and Arun Jaitley would be ejected?
Baru was bull shitting on details
Sanjay baru ..Arun shourie , Palinivel. .. Manmohan. ..Guruswamy Ramachandra Guha. and that gen are all totally credible ...and I will always prefer or give them benefit of the doubt ..on all issues. .
Good traitor list 😂
We were never fully free democracy
We were always democracy with some restrictions
well... i loved the interview
Sanjaya Baru is a traitor. Dr Manmohan Singh had kept him in high esteem, but he chose to betray Dr. Manmohan Singh. He will now give all the possible excuses.
Yes. Loyalty to party is more important than to Loyalty to India.
Totally agree. Flipping parasites.
Pinto, say no further.
his defining reminding that real india is unity in diversity ..yes
Enjoyed the conversation ❤
1 thing I don’t like Mr Baru says….. is constantly seeking self validation from other major powers in world for India being a great democracy whereas no other major power is free of the same issues that they try to point at India
Nice interview. Credit to Barkka Dutt for framing good questions in a flow to make the interview very interesting.
Old Elite - Khan Market Gang, Lutyans Delhi Irrelevant Now.
She stopped Baru as he started talking about opposition parties and their strength and on Bharat jodo. Clearly she has shifted her allegiance to Modi !
Well done
Excellent interview. Thank you for bringing it to us.
We request you to question congress who always do votebank politics in the name of secularism.
exactly
In my opinion, the print & electronic media will set the agenda for the 2024 elections.
I think before 2014 , India is more modern then today's Chinese modernisation were quality in any development won't be seen anywhere
I of the good interviews I have heard
Nice. I felt like two congress guy's talking.
Very loud.. Rough intro music😢. It's a spoiler. Channel managers need to rethink. Think on lines of Ndtv.. The world this week aired long back. Tabla n guitar combine
Sanjaya vary is speaking like a true blue Brahmin and a communist ( not exactly ex) and pontificating by painting the devil on the wall. Twitter doesn’t represent India. The man on street does bother about this a Pt Bhimsen Joshi and Bismillah khan parity. He listens to all music and enjoys it with not even thinking about the liberal narrative of unity in diversity. I will agree to Baru on his observation of othering the Muslim, but he needs to come clean and also indicate that the hijab wearing burka cladding women have increased multi fold from the time since his childhood. He needs to acknowledge the way media handles the violence in west Bengal vs violence in UP. Else he could e called 1:05:32 a hypocrite. Also Modi differentiating based on caste . Best to impossible if his DNA is RSS removing caste barrier is their goal
Strat introducing you guest !!
Lutyens Delhi elite - got a kick - i shall give that credit to Modi
He is so impressed by "Bharat Jodo Yatra", at 32:20 he said its big for any democracy...😆 What happened december assembly elections then, at least 10% of voter's connect he said, but congress lost vote percentage compared last election....
Modi ji is a thousand years phenomenon, he doesn't need image makeover inchief.
Free speech is a luxury for a developed country. Look at what Singapore Lee Kuan Yu did to make Singapore a Developed Nation.
History will never judge not only Manmohan sing but also Naroshima rao. Vacuum created 12-14 because pranab Mukherjee left cabinet for president.
What's the need of the background music when the guest is speaking.
the Truth is Rahul Gandhi never tore up the ordinance...that is the fact please recheck the video
Barkha’s new version is so much better
While Bhimsen Joshi was a recipient of Bharat Ratna, late Balamurali Krishna wasn't.
Baru became a bull shit artiste
I agree on few points if not all and one of them is that Sanjay Baru was refrain to mention though I ve a feeling, its on his top of the mind that BJP is also somehow responsible of growing devide between North and South....
This guy is the main culprit bcos of whom we lost wise PM like MMS .And India is burning today under scoundrels in power.
Mr Baru seems to have grown soft on Congress...
What did an india achieve during being 100Percent democracy?
I must confess I came here with my prejudice because I am apolitical and Barkha is more of congress inclined individual but anyway, it is a good podcast now I have listened to the 4th episode and I am enjoying the conversations.
This man has no guts to speak truth.
He has written that sonya made all efforts to defeat MMS from Delhi.
At 01:00:58 what Mr Baru is saying is quite relevant to anyone who is raised in an elite environment. He has not seen ground reality where all Religions are equal in just on text books. He does not understand or maybe does not address the basic issue of radicalism in religion.
good points by sanjay barua
Brilliant interview Barkha. You have been such a refreshing exception in this age of sensationalistic media.
Keep it up!
1) full credit to Mr Modi / Mr Shah for being perfect judge of people and their characters , who has to be given a position and who has to be ignored ,
2) The Indian left ( pre 2014 people in power were all left ) cannot digest that the Hindu / Sanatn Dharam middle class is asserting itself they’d rather have them buy Bollywood tickets and vote broken to throw up coalition nonsense
3) India is growing because of Hindu majority , maximum tax payers are Hindus , beware of those who will divide Hindus on the basis of language and region.
4) His political acume is either compromised or faulty if he thinks Bharat Jodi was a water shed ! Recent elections results prove that ,
Background music too sound, really disturbed to hear properly.
Mr. Baru fails to understand the difference in India from Nehru, Indira and MMS times. Indians these days don't take preachings from the west lying down. That is the main reason Obama was bashed. It has nothing to do with Hindutva.
Do you even understand English. He was making a whole different point with the Obama statement
Stealing of mandate in Maharashtra ❌
Recovering the stolen Mandate ✔️
Baru seems to be a Congress stooge in the media like Barakha 😊
name of the book
The Accidental Prime Minister
55:30 Extremely naive by Baru ji (great respect to him, no sarcasm) that he is ignoring the major feature of the Bharat Jodo yaatra. Touching the ground he says. It is not correct, the yaatra was done with as luxurious as possible that none in Bharat can imagine. I'm not sure even Ambani and Adani would have done that luxuriously the Bharat Yaatra. RaGa has to just show some response to the trolls of him Silver spoon born by doing Yaatra on the ground.
The background music is irritating,
One of Khan Market Gang.
Please add the timestamps.
Being a Brahmin, he does not know from where "Vasudaiva Kutumbakam" came. He says Indira Gandhi coined it.
Barkha...we are behind you. This BJP hounding the press and journalist has changed the scenario of all that we had seen all of this time. I enjoyed this intervew an have been enlightened to this intervew.
You like her behind ?😂😂
A fine example of self-censorship by Barkha, who has gone to great lengths in her line of questioning to make the Modi govt look good
India - too much diversity, complex country. 😕
Baru's work has substantive merit; but he cannot pretend that his stature and book deals are not built on gossipy foundations of 'The Accidental PM'.
Freedom that he had to mention the book and title to Manmohan Sir or his family is at little price paid by every citizen now. What an actual accident!!
Well said.
Some could see through right at the beginning. Some later. Some now. Hopefully all will soon.
That's giving too much credit to a book.
He cleverly avoids to speak on the nexus between media and Modi
Will India ever get a prime minister like Dr Manmohan Singh
When informed minds converse this happens. Just a request to review the noisy intro and outro music.
Congress achieved it as that was instructions from China to keep the economy that way
35:58 Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam was coined by Indira Gandhi 😮😮😮
