Hello, thank you for the video, but I did not understand one thing there. In the step two you play D, C and G one by one (twice each, G 4x) but I don't know if I should hold the string with my left hand or not during this string picking. I mean, when you play for example C - only the C string, should I hold the C chord or should the C string be free?
My dad used to play this all the time, but he went beyond the first notes. I’m trying to put those notes together so I can get a tattoo created in his memory. I could use any and all help if you’re willing!

I recommend holding the whole chord to get used to the shape and that common chord change.
