    Yes, you can make circular shapes, long thin shapes or any other shape you want. The reason we prefer the cloud/pillow technique, is that this method creates a depression in the underside of the newspaper wad, making them easier to stack and stay in place. Happy Modeling, Kaylee!

  • @schoolprojectguru
    @schoolprojectguru  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am guessing that by paper, you mean the Plaster Cloth. You can find it at most local, privately owned hobby stores. You can also find Scene-A-Rama at Hobby Lobby and Michael's stores. If you cannot find it locally, you can probably get it online somewhere like eBay or Amazon. Hope this helps! Here's wishing you and your daughter Happy Modeling!

    Mariela...usually the plaster cloth will dry overnight! It also depends on the humidity conditions. You can also put a fan in the room to circulate the air and speed up the drying time.

    Do you have to use a tube could you use a bottle or a can for the eruption. and also when you put the plaster cloth on the volcano what do you use to stick it on water or glue

    • @schoolprojectguru
      @schoolprojectguru  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yensi Johnson Hello Yensi, Yes, you can use something other than a tube, but you will need to increase the amount of eruption mixture that you make. We use a tube, because since it is narrow, it does not require much eruption mixture to cause the forceful expulsion from the volcano peak. To get your desired effect, we suggest you experiment with the amount of eruption mixture you will need, using the bottle or can prior to building your diorama.Hope this helps! Good luck and have fun!

    Yes, it is difficult to find Scene-A-Rama products in countries other than United States and the UK. If you have access to Lightweight Hydrocal or other plaster product, you can use that. Otherwise, I would suggest looking for other TH-cam videos about building volcanos. There are several that offer various recipies for making the outer shell. Whatever you use, make sure you build it around a plastic tube, in which to put the mixture that makes it erupt. Good luck!

  • @schoolprojectguru
    @schoolprojectguru  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can find Plaster Cloth at local hobby shops that carry Scene-A-Rama products. Also, Hobby Lobby and Michaels carry it. The suggested retail price is $8.99 per roll. Plaster Cloth is also available in our Woodland Scenics line, which is also sold in local hobby shops that sell products for modeling model railroad scenery. Hope this helps!

  • @schoolprojectguru
    @schoolprojectguru  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The drying period is usually four to six hours but can depend on a variety of factors, such as humidity and how many layers you have applied. Keep area warm, dry and you can put a fan in the room to accelerate drying time. Hope this helps!

    Do you have any tips about the (Etna) Volcano?

    • @schoolprojectguru
      @schoolprojectguru  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure exactly what tips you are looking for, but I'll give this a try. The modeling technique for making any volcano is the same, but if you are wanting to model a specific volcano, you would need to Google images of the volcano you are wanting to make, in the case I'm guessing the Etna Volcano in Sicily. Stack your newspapers in the shape of the volcano and follow the general directions. If you are asking about anything more specific, let us know and we'll be glad to try and help you. Thanks!

    This is helping me so much cuz i have to do a volcano project for school. Instead of using a tube to put the vinegar stuff in, can i use a cup or jar?

    • @schoolprojectguru
      @schoolprojectguru  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is up to you. The volcano is built around the tube and models the opening of the volcano. The height of the tube, jar, etc. will determine the height of the volcano. The volcano should be built so it is level with the height of the tube or jar, or the vinegar mixture will seep into the volcano instead of flowing down the sides. For this reason, we recommend using the tall, narrow tube. Hope this helps!

    It is more about the shape than size. Forming the pillows similar to how they are featured in the video makes them easy to stack on top of each other. Some of the pillows may be smaller and some bigger to fill in gaps and create the shape you are looking for. Do what works best for your project!

    What is the white stuff you put on the plaster clothes after you dip in the water and stick it together. Is it glue?

    • @schoolprojectguru
      @schoolprojectguru  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanapat Channel The white stuff is the plaster that is on the surface of the cloth. The water activates the plaster, which is then spread with wet fingers to fill all the holes in the cloth and make a rigid surface. Hope this helps!

    @LILB33623 - a tube comes with the Erupting Volcano Project Pack, but if you just want to buy a tube, you can purchase a 3/4" hard plastic tube from any hardware store. Happy Modeling!

  • @schoolprojectguru
    @schoolprojectguru  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Our offices are closed over the weekend, so we did not see this until this morning! Plaster Cloth is by far the most durable product to use to model this, but you can use the old homemade papier mache formula of flour & water paste with newspapers, paper towels or other options. You can Google and find any number of recipes on the Internet.
