Let's face it. As good as this team was, they just didn't have the pitching to get past Houston. Kershaw and Jansen faltered a bit, and they didn't have enough backing them up. They got Darvish instead of Verlander. That one decision would have gotten them the ring they deserved, but the FO and ownership was cheap and wouldn't take on Verlander's contract. Houston did and they got the ring instead. The 2018 Dodgers were not nearly as good as 2017. When you are this good, you get the final pieces to complete the picture to make sure you win at least one when you are the best, and the 2017 Dodgers were better than the Astros at the trade deadline, but didn't do enough to improve themselves. Houston was a very comparable team and they got the pitching they needed to win.
We should have beat Houston, but Boston was a lot harder since they had more pitching. 2019 I think will be better than 2018 but no dodger team will be as good as the 2017 dodgers ever were
