- What’s it like in Agios Nikolaos?
A walk through Agios Nikolaos on the Greek Island of Crete. Leaving the rain and wind of Wales for a week of Cretian sunshine.
Apologies to the locals for the poor pronunciation of the name.
The tour of Agios Nikolaos takes us from the Almyros Beach near the Miramare Hotel and along the coast into the centre of town.
On the way, we go past the marina and the town square and to the area of Agios Nikolaos known as the lake. This pretty area is surrounded by bars and restaurants.
Agios Nikolaos is on the eastern side of Crete on Mirabello Bay and only about 50 minutes from Heraklion Airport.

I would go to voulisima beach in istron 15 mins out of agios nikolaos. Its sandy warm and absolutely stunning. Also visit elounda.its usually busy in august so its because of corona as package holidays got cancelled
We did get to explore Elounda later that week as we did have a rental car. Again, much quieter than usual.

@@annettejohnson4100 hi ya Annette, I worked on the door as a PR at lipstick 💄 night club just a few doors up from studio night club a lad called marti from Ireland 🇮🇪 worked on the door there, and Bora Bora night club was a few doors away , my friends Darrel and John ran the ferry man bar just opposite the harbour, and Barry worked on sorrentoes wine bar front door 🚪. 🙌🙌🙌🙌👍
@@thestrengthwithin4249 When my friend and I got there we worked in the hotel that the owner of Lipstick also owned(can't remember the name of the hotel). Also worked in a bistro and a car rental company. It looks as if ag nik has changed a lot since 94. We sometimes drank in the Royal and Roxy bars, doesn't look as if they are still there. Memories eh😀
@@annettejohnson4100 hi ya the owner was called Odysseas not sure if that’s the correct way to spell it, I believe he owned a hotel round the corner from lipstick nightclub, Who knows maybe we bumped into each other in our time there, I have only been back once, I really loved working there it was a great period of my life being young careless and free, and as you say what memories ehh I wish I could do it all over again 🤪🤪🤣🤣🙌🙌

Loved this video, so excited when you walked past my house said hello to one of my cats, ours was the white house on the right as soon as you mentioned the cemetery, if you passed it at night it's the one with all the fairy lights on it. The cat was called Oliver

We just came from that hotel, ppl that work at the restaurant are amazing, we had half-board. Beach was too rocky to our liking, since we had rental car we traveled to a sandy beaches, but the hotel has two nice pools as well …overall very positive experience. 😊

Lovely vlog. Could I ask do you book the flights and hotel independently yourselves or do you book through Travel Agents. We are interested to visit but looking for the best way price wise. I’ve never booked myself, always used a travel company
Hi, we booked this trip ourselves and usually we do book our own flights and accommodation direct with the hotel. Although last year, we did book complete holiday packages withJet2 as they started flying from near us.
Hi guys, we have booked flights to Crete fron 17th to 28th August this year, we have provisionally booked in Gouves but too sure now after watching your video.
I don't suppose you have visited Gouves to compare🤷♂️
Sorry can't really help as we didn't visit that area. Apart from Agios Nikolaos we only really visited Elounda
What did you mean by renting umbrellas and sunbeds? Does this hotel not have them?
The beach is not their private beach but the closest to the hotel. It's about 5 minutes away and we did have to rent them.
How are the beaches ? and is Agios a great place to visit ? :)
We spent time at the beach at 0:49 in the video. It was very nice and shallow entrance to the sea. the other beach near the hotel was more shingle.
