yo, this album is a gem, was surprised to stumble on you reacting to these guys, definitely not one of the mainstream bands people always begging for. Love it!

How lovely it is; when you think "Bryan would love this as well" and the community has enough who's diggin' it (once listening) to push it up to shared win in the poll - and then.... You ARE loving it! 🥰 This is what I'd say is a really under-appreciated band. I'm quite sure they would have loads of more fans if they could reach more potential fans.
This whole reaction and analysis/review was a total pleasure!

This song had the working title "baklengssangen" (Backwards song). The part where you first talk about an inverse melody line, some of the melodies repeat in 3(guitar 1 and keys), 5(guitar 2 and bass) and 7(saxophone). After the heavy part in the middle we play the parts we revisit backwards, also where we increased dynamics we now decrease. Glad you enjoyed it :D Unfortunately we don't have any sheet music for it, but if you have any questions we'll be happy to answer. Cheers

That's awesome. Gives me an entirely new appreciation for the song and band.

Very awesome to see you react to these guys! Another criminally underknown one I might recommend is Rishloo. Song - Dark Charade

First time hearing this band. That track is a belter. I will be investigating. Great analysis, as always. Cheers.

I love saxophone, and the bass is dope. I hear King Crimson and Mel Collins vibes. Vocals reminiscent of Jon Anderson. Gorgeous.

Personally would have suggested Oh My Gravity! for the song but this is a very close second. They really deserve more attention, both their albums are killer.

I've just checked out "Oh, My Gravity" live. I'm blown away.

This was nice. Good solid jazz-rock fusion. Perhaps the most interesting thing is how is how it sounds (at least to me) like a near-perfect midway between the two genres.* It's one of those tracks I could see rock fans saying was too jazzy and jazz fans saying was too rock, but people who love both genres (like myself) will be right at home in. I also like that even though I wouldn't call it super original or unique, I also can't immediately think of any bands/artists they obviously sound like. Influences, yes... I hear some King Crimson (especially ca. Discipline), and maybe a variety of math rock bands, maybe a little Yes with the vocal approach... but none of those bands tend to use the harsher elements heard here. Cool stuff.'
*Ha! I wrote this before I heard your analysis. Great minds think alike I guess? :D

Oh shit this is super unexpected! Seven Impale are a dope band I feel like I've never seen anybody talk about, let alone expect a reaction to haha. City of the Sun is a great EP (can it really be called that at ~40-50 mins runtime?), but my favourite track has to be Oh My Gravity! Excited to get into the video😁

Maybe streaming services like Spotify categorise it as an EP due to few songs. They tend to do that (thick algorithm programmers 🙄)

That's the whole point of this week, checking out bands that nobody talks about and usually don't get reactions. Thanks for the suggestion for an EP. I'll have to check it out.

@@CriticalReactions This is from that very "EP" (full album). I think you should check both albums if you'd like. Plenty of other exciting stuff available for the channel reactions 😉

Would really love to see you make a reaction to another song from Orphaned Land, I believe there is a lot from the band that was not present on your reaction you made of them, mostly the heavy aspect of their music and how they blend it with the Arabic folk instruments. On those songs there is really more presence from the base and drum, which was something, you said, wanted to hear more.
Would recommend The Cave, it's one of my favourite pieces, across all bands.
Edit: did not finish the video before I wrote this, thank you for making me discover this band, I REALLY like that song, will definitely check them out. Thanks to the ones who recommended them too.

Damn, that got quite heavy all of a sudden. Loved the song. Got massive King Crimson vibes, but this band has tons of personality, at least in this song. Very intrigued to listen to more of them!

Thought you might have been one of the poll-voters for this after listening(?) 😊

I can't pinpoint an instrument that isn't my favorite in this
The trifecta of bass, drums, and sax is money

This band seems to have an expert use of space/silence and arrangement

You should check out "Eye of the Storm" by King Buffalo. They're a stoner rock band that leans towards progressive. Very underrated band that needs some attention

Great band, great song. My favorite is "God left us for a black dressed woman" though.
