Interested in becoming a wildland firefighting vendor? Now is the time to get set up with the Forest Service’s vendor portal (VIPR) and the CAL FIRE Hired Equipment Program.
Virtual Incident Procurement (VIPR) is an electronic bidding and award system used by the US Forest Service to manage wildland firefighting small business resources. VIPR allows the Forest Service to solicit bids for what are known as “blanket purchase agreements” during the off-season so that they have a ready list of vendors they can call when a wildfire breaks out later in the year. These solicitations typically open up sometime around February and close in March, so now is the time to get prepared.

Northern California APEX Accelerator (Norcal APEX Accelerator) is a government-funded nonprofit formed to help small businesses find, bid on, and win contracts with federal, state, local, and tribal agencies. Over 90 APEX Accelerator Centers - with over 300 local offices - form a nationwide network of more than 600 dedicated procurement professionals who work to help local businesses successfully sell their products and services to government agencies.
Our mission is to advance entrepreneurship and economic growth through procurement technical assistance for all businesses in Northern California. We help our clients identify, obtain, and perform on prime and subcontracting opportunities with local, state, tribal, and federal governments. We support all businesses in our service area, with an outreach emphasis on underserved businesses such as women, minority, LGBTQ+, and veteran-owned businesses, and businesses located in low-wealth, rural, or disaster-impacted areas.
