    Hi, I'm Spanish, maybe my English is not very good. I have seen almost all of your videos and I have to thank you for taking the time to do this kind of tutorial and explain everything so well. Normally for people who have olympus omd 10 mark 2 there are hardly any tutorials.
    I just wanted to write to thank you and continue giving you encouragement to continue creating videos, thanks to you I have learned a lot and every day I have more desire to take pictures.
    I hope your channel continues to grow because you deserve it. Your content is of great quality.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm no good at cleaning. My cameras are so dirty! For the body, I use a keyboard vacuum, q-tips, and soft toothbrush to clean with some rubbing alcohol. Lenses are delicate and should only use q-tips, distilled water.

    Woke up early and saw a clear bright moon and thought, why not take a picture. All mine were blurred white. So I thought, bet Rob has done a moon upload. Found this one and much better, I can see details now. Nothing like your shot but I know with a bit more messing around and not doing it through double glazing I would get better shots. Hard with a prime lens.

    nice tutorial Rob. I usually prefer P mode to shoot the moon handheld, leave the aperture to the max of the 14-150mm ii lens f5.6. Doing tests with A mode from f5.6 to f8 didn't notice any change in sharpness (E-M10 v1). I leave a 2s delay too, so I can hold the camera with two hands and not add any shaking while pressing the shutter button. Also tried adding the TCON-17x using a 55-58mm step-up ring and that worked out pretty well

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 2s delay is a great idea. Thanks.

    I just use manual mode and adjust shutter speed until the histogram looks good. Seems to be a lot less guessing that way. I suspect you needed less compensation on long lens because the spot metering picked up less of the surrounding dark area.

    @gustavounguez9245 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Rob, just one question. Why do factory reset?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Two reasons. 1) To create a baseline for viewers in terms of settings so that we are on the same page and can exactly duplicate results. 2) Sometimes settings buried deep in the menu disable other settings I might need and it's too hard to remember which settings affect other settings or where the settings are. So if I reset, I can systematically change settings and develop muscle memory for the things I do most.

      Just a best practice for me. Based on the charts I've seen on various lenses including dxomark.com. I know it's definitely true on my 150-600mm tamron. It gets really soft at 600mm.

    Make it simple Shutter priority 1/125 or 1/250 or even 1/500 sec. ISO 100 (200 mf3)to 400 if it works?
    I use manual f10, speeds and ISO's as above on a Nikon 75-300mm lens and D7200 camera.
    Have a GX7 and 45-150 lens. Never used it for this but would shoot equivalent settings in manual.
    Cheers E.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a rule for shooting moons, called f/11. Match ISO with Shutter and set aperture to f/11. For example ISO 200, Shutter Speed 200, aperture f/11. It works because the moon;s light doesn't change. The way I'm doing it avoids manual mode and lets you use the lens's sharpest aperture.

    • @eltinjones4542
      @eltinjones4542 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the way I do is the same 1/125 sec ISO 100 f10 or 11 all on manual.
      This doesn't always work so M mode allows me to adjust any of the three variables to get the desired result.
      I am not rubbishing your method - it works for you great. I will try it out on my mf3 camera next full moon.
      Thanks for your insight 👍

    Love it. Great, simple, perfect tutorail (as usual). I really mean that. Only issue is doing manual focus or auto-focus? Some people suggest manual focus but than focus is really tricky as the moon is too bright. It is important to dim the screen light and maybe use a red filter to adjust the eyes to the darkness....

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use autofocus because it works fine. Dimming the screen helps keep your eyes in night vision mode. I don't see a need for a red filter.
