Thank You for the great 10 minute tour of the radio. Really helps! Made up my mind that this is a great radio to buy. There was one thing I saw on one of the Amazon review about the Eton, they had the same slight criticism that you have in the bass sound. Then they added later on the review that they discovered that they hit the narrow/wide filter and the wide function took care of that! I really don’t know for sure since you convinced me on this great piece of gear and I don’t have one yet but 73!

One reason I like the radio is because I'm getting older and it's hard to see the smaller radios on this radio everything's really easy to see

I am glad you were able to purchase this now classic radio. Mine is a Grundig Satellit 750 version that is about 8 years old. Mine looks exactly the same in terms of the metal knobs and the silver buttons. By the way the back light will stay on when on batteries if you press the light button and hold it till it flashes.
Despite the mixed reviews at the time I am very glad I purchased this radio. To me the biggest flaw with this radio is that the wide band width is just too wide and pretty much useless to me. So I listen on the narrow band width all the time and fortunately it still sounds very good with reasonable selectivity. Ideally I wish this radio had a third even narrower band width to choose from but not a show stopper by any means. I love the 750 as it is a very nice table top transportable radio. Such a pleasure to use. It does make a very fun bedside radio and it give the ambiance of a cockpit. Love the physical signal meter. Love the rotatable AM antenna with antenna jack as well. I will tell you that the AM antenna will eventually get statically when you turn it. This can be fixed by spraying contact cleaner under the antenna and then rotating it 10 revolutions one way and 10 revolutions the other way. Repeat as needed and static will be gone. My AM antenna no longer makes a click sound but works just fine still.
By the way I keep a mini to mini cable in the empty compartment in the back. I use this cable when I want to listen to a podcast from my phone through this radio. Your phone sounds great going into the Line-in on the front of the radio.

So far I'm happy with the radio I agree what you said about the wide and narrow bands I use batteries and it seems to pick up less noise I've had it a month so far and no complaints

    Thanks for this buddy,
I'm in the same position as you portable/ tabletop issue...
I couldn't believe how they shipped it 😱
That could have gotten chucked around as well...
And getting a used like the Panny , she's gonna need service cos of the age .
There's some nice USSR set's but it's the same problem again, portable size.
Like you I want a big , substantial unit.
I think I'll get this, nice tone & don't cost the earth.
    Cheers buddy 👌

Hello Jim. The Eton Elite 750, it seems very impressive after this first look. Speaking of Eton, I received the Elite Executive today. I decided to give it another chance after 14 months. The tuning wheel works and it was packed better this time.

@@jimsradiocheck936 We can thank DSP technology for the mute on tuning. I'll do some testing on it before I review it. I was impressed by the reception on all the bands the last time I had it. Now I can test the SSB too. Have a good weekend and 73s.

My Elite 750 is coming in from Las Vegas. It's in Utah as of 5 a.m. this morning 9/29/2021. I am so freaking excited to get this radio. It's my first ever shortwave radio.
I was watching the new horror flick, 'Malignant', and a Satellit 750 was featured. The Grundig brand nameplate had been removed, but I was fascinated with that radio. Started researching and found the Eton Elite 750 on eBay for $280! Sold as 'Open Box, new condition. No signs of wear' and that is good enough for me. No other 750, or S-2000, even came close on price. $350-$400 is the norm. Can't wait to get it.

@@Gogogordy1 i was once told the difference in prices and quality is not due to the manufacturing process being any different. Its due to the money spent on quality control checks to protect the brand and then marketing. These are human activities that cost a lot. A lot of Chinese goods are produced brand free and often are an amalgam of components from independent sources so start to end quality testing is difficult and then sold on to other companies to market under a brand that may be here today and gone tomorrow.
