- Today @betsythomps and I decided to visit Mysore (formally known as Mysuru). We check out Mysore Palace and tour the local area. We find some incredible Indian food and plenty more :)

Pls stay till Navrathri and attend all night festivals of Mysore. It will be excellent. You don't get to see anywhere else in the World. U can see our culture on all those 9 days n nights. The Palace will be decorated with lights and every night for nine days there will be lot of activities n entertainment. On the last day of Dushera you will get to see Jambu savari ( U shouldn't miss this at all. This us the main part.) There will a possession of Goddess Chamundeshwari. And the crowd will be huge on that day from all over the world.
Also visit Belur n Halebeedu and Hampi without fail. That is where our heart is. One of the wonders of the World.

@@dunneytravels That's cool. To add on : Visit Belur and Halebeedu...UNESCO identified these this year. You will get see our culture and the brilliance of our ancestors who were the great civil engineers of those era.
As a staunch Mysorean, I would say, please do not visit during Dasara. As it is it will be overcrowded with the recent government free travel incentive, can't imagine how crowded it would be. A 5-minute on a regular day drive can take you 2 hours.

Mysore zoo and the fountain show at Brindavan Gardens are must watch in Mysore.
Also, you have to dip/add the inside potato curry and the chutney/sambhar to the masala dosa and eat.

What you ate ,as the 2nd snack was planton fruit ( family of Banana used as vegitables) in batter . The egg bonda is a very good snack too.

Except the palace, you don't seem to have visited other famous landmarks in Mysore.. You just wandered in some roads... Mysore has much more beautiful places to see.. Better hire a good local guide when you visit next time! Good luck!

8:04 Ohhh nooo.. did you guys not get the coconut man to give you the coconut meat? If it were up to me, I’d throw away the water and just eat the meat. They cut the coconut in half, make a ‘spoon’ out of the outer side of one of the halves, scoop out the meat from the inside of both halves, transfer all the meat into one of the halves and give it to you with the spoon!

coconut, after drinking, you give it back to vendor and he will open it up and give it back to you, inside tender coconut is very tasty and has lot of proteins too. Do not miss it next time.

And you are visiting mysuru which is in South india... you get 100's variety of snacks, but pl research, before you visit indian states,South Indian food n culture is different from North india you don't get samosa etc everywhere.
