Greetings from Canada. The girl he was after was Joni Mitchell, who had just released a song "California" about her wanting to go 'home' wearing flowers in her hair. btw Jonesy was lead on mandolin, Jimmy on backup guitar. Peace, love and bellbottoms.

The May 25,1975 version at Earls Court is the best version, one of my two top favorite lives.

@@sicotshit7068 i freakin LOVE when Jimmy's guitar playin sounds sloppy
feels more raw and powerful LIVE

@@puromichoacan8339 is it sloppy, or is it him/them adding to the main structure of the song? I’ve said, on the albums there’s a time restraint so it fits, in concert they can let the mood take them where they want to go. I love the May 25 one, because the visuals & Plants improv is better, great views of Jimmy killing his flow of playing.

Jokes aside there are incredible performances of in my time of dying from Robert earlier than Earls Court
      Love the video
But just discovering now that he did much better at other gigs

@@alexpaulyoungthemuso3937 where? Because only 4 concerts were audio & visually recorded for the band, others are either bootleg, or only audio. This particular date in my opinion is the best one.

Lives you need to checkout, anything from Madison Square Gardens (1973), but definitely Since I’ve Been Loving You. Live at Earls Court May 25,1975 version of In My Time Of Dying, both of these lives are my top 2 favorites. Then live at Knebworth (1979), Achilles Last Stand, Kashmir & In The Evening.
Studio versions checkout, You Shook Me, & Tea For One. Thank you for your reaction, & keep doing Led Zeppelin. LZ were four equal parts of a whole, NO egos, just their love of making great music.

All these years as a Zeppelin fan I wonder why (outside the obvious) how they became my favorite band. You answered it bro when you said "The old school bands let you enjoy the music as much as the lyrics" the difference in LZ and every one else is all 4 musicians are masters of their craft.

Jimmy Page is strumming the acoustic guitar. John Paul Jones is playing the mandolin.

Led Zeppelin sold out all their concerts, sometimes adding an extra nigh in a city. Many of their concerts were 3 to 5 nights in one city, & their concerts were 3 to 4 hours long, the only band playing & NO breaks. They were the first band to break the largest attendance to a concert. In 2007 the 3 remaining members, got back together for celebration concert, in just 2 hours there were requests for 20 million tickets. There were only 20,000 seats where they would be playing, to make it more fair, they held a lottery for the tickets. Drummer John Bonham who passed away in (1980), & the end of the band, his son Jason played in his fathers place. Jimmy Page is the lead guitarist, John Paul Jones, besides bass guitar & keyboards plays the mandolin. Page played the acoustic guitar, & Jones played the mandolin in this song, which is not actually a guitar but kind of like a guitar.

It was me begging for more Zeppelin lol, and now I'm glad I did. Thank you so much for doing it, it's been so long! I will happily help pester you for more Zep now that you seemed to say you need reminding! Lol.
Anyway, I loved your reaction and that you got so much out of it on your first listen. Yes, it is a beautiful song.
Since you asked, my favorite Zep song is "Since I've Been Loving You", but I think you may have already done that one. I'd have to check to be sure though. How about doing "You Shook Me", I don't think you've done that one yet. Again, I'll have to go check to be sure. Thanks again, I'm excited for you to get back into Led Zeppelin! ☮️

As a young women Joni Mitchell was my #1 musical influence . Born and raised in Fla...I knew I had to go to California. This song was my heart at the time. 1970. Still in CA. Its not anything like it was. Sadly.
John P Jones never gets proper attention. He wasn't a hog for the limelight. But his contribution was crucial to their success. Extremely talented musician. Each member brought their weight in gold.

JPJ is talent overflow! Bass, keys, mandolin, etc. So underrated. And California is overrated. I was born and raised there, but now live near the Rocky Mountains. I'll visit my hometown of San Diego, but I have to have the mountains in my backyard!
