Conch is our favorite mollusk. The texture when fried is like calamari. It has a mildly sweet and savory flavor. Tastes a little bit like clam but more flavorful. When people eat it in conch salad (ceviche), the flavor is nowhere near as pronounced. When we fry it, we pound it pretty good to make it real tender. It is a real treat. 😋
@@josephstollsteimer1556 Hope you get to try it one of these days. Just saw some online for 30$ a pound. Ouch! But definitely cheaper than a trip to the Bahamas.
Glad you enjoyed! We spent quite a bit of time in the water most day. Hard to give an exact number, since some days it was very windy which limited us some. We had more footage of catching fish but we lost a lot of it due to our external hard drive getting corrupted.
Have you ever done any spearfishing before? You have to be 200 yards from shore, so I highly recommend renting a kayak. Usually satellite view on google maps will show you the reefs pretty good. Lobster season is closed until August, which is too bad since lobsters are usually pretty easy to find in the Bahamas. Good luck and have fun!
Since this a shore diving video I would rather not disclose the name of the island publicly as to not bring excessive pressure on the resources. Many popular TH-cam videos have done that in the past. Hope you understand. Thanks!
😅 🙏It would really be helpful if you could label the type of fish you’ve speared to help those with little ability to identify what types & variety of fish (strawberry grouper, mutton snapper, etc.) we’re watching being caught.
The shark I shot at in the video came at me a few times for no obvious reason. I was diving for conch and had not shot any fish. After I shot at it, it left and didn’t come back. In this case I didn’t even hit it. Every situation is different, but it usually works as a deterrent.
I was diving for conch when the shark started harassing me and kept coming at me. I didn’t shoot any fish remotely close to that area. And when I did shoot fish I would put them in a cooler on the kayak as to not attract sharks.
Why do all your videos tend to make me so hungry 😂 Happy 20 years to you guys!
Thanks, Randy! We totally get it. Imagine how hungry we get when we’re making these videos. 😋

@@CatchNDinnerwhat kind of spear gun was that? Did you bring it or was it rented in bahamas?
Wow - that Lobster was Huge !!!
Yeah! That lobster was no joke, and it tasted awesome even though it was older.
@@CatchNDinner - and the hogfish looked very Yummy - lol
Usually the meat of older fish can get tough, but this big hogfish was phenomenal. I would have never guessed.
@@CatchNDinner - I love Hogfish but it is hard to find in restaurants
@@dougparson4407 We have only seen it on a menu and in a fish market in the Florida keys. It was 25$ a pound over 10 years ago.
The Bahamas are the best. Great video.
Thanks! Yeah, the Bahamas are hard to beat.
Incredible video thanks for sharing. What does conch taste like?

I can’t wait for our next delicious dinner together! It has been entirely too long…..
Definitely way too long! Let fix that soon.
So relaxing to watch the fishing. How many hours did it take to catch all that? My mouth was watering looking at all those yummy dishes!

I’m going to Eleuthera Bahamas for a week mid July and really want to go spear fishing but don’t want to pay $780 per person for a guide. Any tips?

Thanks for the recommendation. We will add the names on our next video.
if you shoot at a shark itll leave you alone?

Secure your fish after the shot and the sharks won’t be on your ass non stop
