- Hi everybody and welcome back to my channel! I went out for some Saturday afternoon dumpster diving and ended up finding some great items in the trash! :) Not every dive can be the biggest and best haul, but I love being able to rescue things that we can use around the house - it's always fun to get home decor and paper products for free!

It always amazes me what people throw out, and in another five months they will buy it again.
Should have taken the tree tohe thrift store. People love those white trees

Towels and rags can go to animal shelters along with bedding you find. Don't pass those up unless they are completely trashed

She's already collected a bunch of Christmas trees before, I think she's kinda sick of them taking up space, since it seems like a thing she finds very frequently and it's pretty bulky.
With regards to the white Christmas tree, many seniors such as myself would appreciate a small tree, Esp a white one,,, and some organizations would take the branches to make Christmas wreaths,, to sell as a fund raiser

You should take the Christmas tree and donate or give it away. There are so many people with kids that can't afford to get a tree and the kids don't get anything. The ornaments are very cute.
Many years ago I had a big beautiful tree that the lights burned out on.. so I put it in the trash. A lady came by knocked on my door and ask me if she could have it for her Mom that they didn't have a tree. Last year she came by and said you probably don't remember me but I'm the one who ask for your tree, we love it and we still have it. Christmas trees are very expensive the past couple of years. Where I am from those are called" Heat Bugs" lol you know when you hear them you are dead smack in the middle of HOT SUMMER in the South. I love to hear them especially at night.

Carry a gallon of water and a bucket: when you need to soak something real quick- like the glove, pour water into the bucket,soak, throw out water ?

I am very very sure that someone else grabbed the white Christmas tree that the people in the comments are very concerned about. Don't forget she isn't the only diver and what one leaves behind another will most assuredly grab! You just can't take it all!

Yep I have 2 ( diff sizes ) we love them ! We also found a pink one a purple one & a royal blue one ( yard sale ) 👍
Be extra careful climbing up on the dumpsters, especially when they are used for construction. Does not look very organized by their crews!

You need a dumpster diving kit. Extra gloves water hand sanitizer, some kind of tape. Maybe a few trash bags and a flash light 🤔. Just a suggestion great video
And some wipes
Some extra gloves and an extra grabber also, plus a lot of reusable bags or plastic bags for small stuff also

For me personally I would have grabbed the rags to have in the truck so when you get more paint 🎨 on your gloves 🧤 you could wipe it off with out worries and still have them to continue to dive🤗 I just love your channel you could read me the phone book and I would continue to watch you you are completely amazing 🤩

You should start a thrift shop and sell your items you find
I've kept hand wipes in my car ever since my son was potty trained and I didn't need to carry a diaper bag any more. (He's 36 now.) Obviously that was pre-covid. I like to have clean hands; even more so during the pandemic. I occasionally go DD. I bought a multi-pack of good gloves so I can wash the used pair and have a fresh pair to go. You might want to keep a rag, a bottle of water, disposable hand wipes, & a First Aid kit in your vehicle just in case. Be safe! Be well!

You seem to be way more selective than you used to be,-taking stuff more for resale-value for yourself rather than saving from landfill. am i right?
Kelly donates loads too - did you see the three big bags of clothes she was donating in this video? I think she’s just learned what’s most useful and what isn’t. She rescues absolutely loads.
I mean.....yes saving from a landfill is awesome. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with her looking for more resale value items for herself and her lil family. You never know the situation....maybe she's running out of room, maybe it's hot af outside. Regardless, she's saving items from the landfill. It's not up to Kelly to pull out every single useable, donate-able thing.
I don't know why everyone was complaining about her not taking the white Xmas tree it looked pretty shabby to me ready for the landfill.

Can I just ask how come you can't donate the Christmas tree to like a school one that don't have too much money just saying save it from the landfill or something like that I don't know I just see it as pick and choosing what to take but save the tree too and give it to somebody

My stand around my toilet came out of the dump I took it home I sanded it down lightly to ensure paint wood stick and I painted mine a light greenish blue and it's been that way for four years

I found a curbside, Pet Gear Roadster Stroller today. It is big enough for Pilgrim! LOL! I have listed it locally on FB.
I also agree that those drawer storage bins sell quickly, and so do the bins with the lids.

Although I can't dumpster dive I did flip with a neighbor. She had a couch and loveseat that she bought from someone about 3 years ago, she bought new to her furniture this week from someone on campus (OSU) and sold me her old "recycled" furniture. A win and keeping things out of the landfill for us. Anna In Ohio.

I’m wondering if you ever check CVS and Walgreens, I’ve seen other divers get really huge hauls from both of those stores. If I were a diver I think I’d pretty much do what stevensteph do, they check behind stores like pet stores, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Bed,Bath & Beyond, Staples, Best Buy, Michaels, Barnes &Noble, Ulta, and those are the dumpsters where they find so many gift cards, and they really don’t have to fight the flys, because those stores don’t really dump unpackaged food. I also think they rescue items that are probably higher end, unless it’s move out time for students, and I know they dump a lot of useful things. My son is vegan, he loves Spiral Diner, so he would have loved that food truck. Sadly they’ve moved from N Texas! One other thing, Steph fixes a lot of things that have cords cut, etc, but a lot of stuff that’s been tossed out still works.
Kelly I have a really stupid question. You’ve probably answered this before in a video. But , have you ever dropped your phone in a dumpster? Also can you make a whole video with Q&As, tips and tricks? , or a full meal just using dumpster food like breafkast ,snack, lunch and dinner because I know you keep some and then put some in the public cabinet /pantry ?

I drive crews through the California desert all the time, & last month there were two huge tarps caught up in the brush near the tracks. So when I let the crew off, I stuffed one into the van. Next day I grabbed the other. They were each 12x70ft. Marketplace had them snapped up at $50 each. Great deal and cash for the labor of stuffing them in the van.
Ok, it was tough to stuff each into my compact car to get them home. Lol
Certain things id find in the dumpster id sell at my yard sale
Like the Xmas tree at 3.00, shirts at a 1.00 and hats. Jackets and sweaters at 3.00.. small ornaments at .25 or a 1.oo depending on size. Book's at .25 to .50. Or donate to local libary.. just saying

Lol a term should be coined for backseat dumpster diving - it's kinda annoying how many people are like "how could you not take ect?!" i.e the white christmas tree in this instance and guilting you for not taking it. Like some things you just don't want to / can't take, people should understand that and be respectful -
I've seen many things that i was tad disappointed were not taken, but it's just disrespectful to be like "why did you not take that? :( so many people are in need of it!"
everyone has different tastes, capacities and abilities to distribute/save things from the trash that they would not want for themselves - and time to get rid of the stuff you've accumulated that you can't use for yourself. People need to understand that, especially if they dumpster dive themselves - they should have realized that already. You can't save everything.

I don’t understand why people always pass on towels. My grandmother rescued a giant bath towel from a dumpster, washed it and I used it for years and years. It was my go to towel. Easy to wash and disinfect for pickers and everyone uses towels no matter the size. Also my towels don’t have to be matchy, matchy.
You can hang CDs from strings on your fruit trees and in your garden to keep the birds from eating your bounty.💕

Love your show Crafters will use broken items ie broken Christmas trees well take take the branches off and decorate with them. Broken lanterns well decorate and put tee lights in them. Christmas cards without encelopes well decopage with them. Why not have on your dumpster diving items to buy, a slot for broken items for crafters. People like me 77 yr old stroke survivor that has a hard time getting around would love a website of broken items.
I am curious, is there an episode where someone tells her something for dumpster diving? I mean I feel like if I was to do it someone would complain. Love her content tho! Just wondering because it seems like no one messes with her and I’m glad they don’t btw :)
