    I found your explanation of flare combined with surface fascinating. I had never thought of that. Makes total sense.

    Great example and explanation of burn up in the beginning of the video. Excellent review!

    I have the Camo as being a bit cleaner than my IQTS, and as a slow-speed medium-rev 2 hander, those two go together so well.

    I built 2 house shot arsenals with these. a solid at 40x3.5x20 a hybrid at 60x4.5x 30 and a pearl at 80x5.5x40, im having a blast with them .

    Luke thanks for this review due to I have 2 Camos 1 at 4x30 at 2000 and 1 at 2-3/4 x 25 at 4000 with lane shine this gives me 2 different reactions and about 3/2 boards difference but main reason I wanted to see this is my ball up is a Burner Solid 4x30 at 2000 with shine and gives me another 3/2 move off the strong Camo since I roll 14lb equipment the #s from the Hyped Solid and Burner Solid 2.52-.036 vs 254-.038 at 14lbs are close I needed to see if much difference.

    I bowl on a super wet dry house shot that has a lot of oil carry down which starts middle of 1st game. I usually start with a Camo at 2000 but need a ball to go to when the Camo wont carry cause of the carry down. Need a slightly stronger ball and thinking this Hyped solid might be a good choice.

    How often do you apply Reacta Skuff to maintain the surface?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really just whenever it needs it. If it starts shining up and getting sharper than I'd like, I hit it. Some people will just use it after every set to keep that surface on it, because since it has the cleaner in it, they just replace regular cleaner with the reacta skuff for after every set/tournament.

    • @TheOutlawRaider
      @TheOutlawRaider 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LukeRosdahl Thanks. I use it periodically on my Phaze II, but not absolutely every week of league & practice. Don't want to overdo it, plus I feel I get better performance with just a bit of lane shine on it.

    In your opinion, what would be a good fit to use under the Winner Solid, the Hyped Solid or the Hustle USA? I'm looking for something to deal with the transition going into mid game 2 to game 3.

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Under that your only options are like a Hyped Pearl or Hustle Wine, those aren't that big of a drop or step down, then it'd be a Tropical Surge

  • @GeeSpell

    Thinking of getting a Hyped Solid as a step down from a Idol Helios and wanted to know your opinion. I already have a Hyroad Max and wondered how close the Max and the Hyped Solid would be?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Max is still a fair amount stronger than the Hyped Solid, but with as long and responsive as NeX is, makes them feel probably closer than they are realistically. Also the Hyped is a lot lower RG than the Max, so that's going to make it feel earlier, and if you keep the surface on them, ball reaction will be closer than it looks on paper.

    • @GeeSpell
      @GeeSpell 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LukeRosdahl thanks for the response, I have my Max pretty polished at this point so I felt that even though they’re on different performance levels they would seem like a similar reaction on the lanes. I’ll definitely have to think about if I’ll pick up the Hyped or not

    ohh 1 other thing and you say this a lot is to reset a surface after buying, how is this best done so we bowlers can repeat the surface change as needed. Mainly for balls that come 4K fast as their is a lot of layers of surface on that finish

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't necessarily mean you should reset it to the box surface, I more mean you should find something you like and change it to that. I have a lot of friends that like to start at 3000 or 4000 with every ball, that gives them a consistent baseline for what the ball actually does

    • @helenb2504
      @helenb2504 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes that I understand but do you take it down to something before applying the 3000,4000@@LukeRosdahl

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well that's what I mean, you decide what the process is for what fits your game. Some people just take a 3000 or 4000 pad to a ball that's shiny to break the shine, while some people take it down to 1000 and then build it back up to 3k or 4k. There's no set or recommended way to go about it, it's what your preference is and what works for you.

      @@helenb2504 for shiny/quick equipment my go to is to go straight to 3000 by hand just to break the cover and give me a consistent baseline like Luke said without taking away from the shape intent of the ball. I also do this for lower end solids that I don’t want picking up too soon like the camo and hyped solid.
      For slower/dull equipment it can take a little more experimentation and is really dependent of what conditions you bowl on. Personally I have a large tournament arsenal and I bowl on many different conditions throughout the season so there isn’t necessarily a hard standard for me. With that said I still find it valuable to change the surface of a dull ball right away too. As Luke said it gives you something repeatable to start with and then you can try other repeatable surfaces from there. My go to with dull equipment (that are more aggressive than something like a camo of hyped solid) is to hit them with a 2000 by hand. I do this even if the manufacturer says it comes at 2000 factory finish, because unfortunately factory finishes can be pretty inconsistent anyway, hitting it myself allows me to know for sure what I’m starting with.
      In my opinion doing a full resurfacing process (like doing 500, then 1000, then 3000 for example) is overkill on a fresh piece but could be a next step if the 3000 finish didn’t have enough teeth

    Ok Luke… I used my Hustle INK this past week in league and scored better than using my Motiv Rogue Assassin or RG UFO. I’ve been bowling like hot garbage this season as I didn’t throw a ball this summer. 20 pins below my yearbook. The Hustle is a house shot killer for me due to how smooth it is (weaker IQ Tour Solid). Told my wife I’m gonna use it the rest of the season… until I was cleaning it yesterday and discovered a crack halfway around the ball! 🤬🤬🤬🤬 So… I thought you stated in another video that the Camo was closest to the INK. I’m thinking that is the ball to get, but I’d like to get your thoughts vs the Hyped Solid. THS on the lanes.

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I mean this is that video, I can't really tell you anything more, extra, or different than what's here. When the Camo came out, I had the Ink against it either in that video or in another comparison. Either one will be fairly close if you shine it up though.

    It amazes me how two balls with the same cover and minimal differences in core numbers can look so different going down the lane. But it did look like the Hyped was more like 1500/2000 and Camo at 3000. Other than that; there was a noticeable difference.
