Another offering from my autobiography of being a scrap metal dealer in the 1990s. This time i go crazy and get a "new" truck with all the usual daftness of viewing others first.
I remember when my grandad had a tk and a CF i love the tks I prefer them over these electric waste of spaces I'm 16 from west country so It was a good lorry for putting cars in the back scrap/or any crap you wanted moving rip grandad I miss you so much you were a funny bastard😪
Moved up from a 1970 Transit flatbed to a 1976 ex Dudley Council Bedford 3614 cc TK box van in 1982. Served us well until 1994 when it was sold on to a scrap metal dealer who wanted to put a flat bed on it for his business.
Evening. Thank you for taking time to watch my video. I have nothing but praise for that old Bedford. Those trucks are still in use all over Africa years later.
@@ColinWeaver-rs1yx Absolutely true Colin. About fifteen years ago we sold two Bedford TLs and an AWD with a Phaser engine to a scrap merchant for him to dispose of any useful parts to his contacts in Africa. they are probably still running for all I know!
Lol that was a definite issue with them. You would see blokes with bad necks climbing out of the cabs down the scrap yards. Being 5ft 7 it wasn't an issue for me but overloading the thing on the front of the body behind the cab made it hideously heavy to steer.
@@ColinWeaver-rs1yx I swear that's why I have a deformed spine 40 years later and even had a operation ten years ago with a wire cage holding my spine together
Totally agree, much preferred Ford's D series, drove for a demolition and plant hire company in the early 80s and one of the owner drivers the company used had a Bedford TK tipper, he was over 6 foot tall and when ever you saw him he was sitting hunched over the steering wheel, I drove the company's KM on a couple of occasions and I always felt uncomfortable in it and I'm only 5 foot 11 or 5 foot 9 depending on which leg I stand on ( it's a boring story) enjoyed my days there, I guess you would describe the company these days as a cowboy outfit and sometimes it was a bit like a scene from hell drivers but I was young and it was fun so what the hell
Good morning. There will be more coming in a few videos time about my Ford lorry activities lol. As you have probably gathered from my previous exploits, things never tended to go without incident. Take care.

The first lorry I drove was a Bedford TK and I loved it. Winter or summer it never let me down.
Hope my videos bring back some great memories. Always smile whenever i see a TK. Like the face of an old mate not seen for a while. Take care.

Will do. Take care.
I hated the TK as i am six ft i had to constantly have to stoop so I could see out the window as the cab roof was so low
