Overflow Pipes For Your Pond (Do We Need Them, And How They Can Be Helpful)

A talk about the use of overflow pipes for your back yard garden pond. Should we have them? How do they work? Where do we install them? All of these topics are discussed in this video. As water levels rise and fall in your pond due to rain or hot sun, keeping your pond's water level at the correct height can help to improve the function of skimmers and filters. There are also some scenarios where we do not want our ponds to overflow, so an overflow pipe may be a great addition to the overall design of your pond. Just make sure that we have a place to drain the excess water to.

Please make sure pond build is level and make sure you have room on all 4 corners, sadly I custom built my pond too close to neighbors fence and regret it, it’s too too close. Also heavy rains this winter is so bad, when it rains which has rained a lot this past winter, never rained so much but freakish weather I have to drain my pond 2-3 times a night by hand release pump. I’m so tired on rainy nights lots of work because lower level grass and concrete pushes backyard water to pond, ughhh so much work on rainy days! Think smart watch plenty of builds to build right. I wish I did more homework!

Maybe you can install a small sump pump with a float to turn the pump on or off when the water level rises. So when the water level gets to a set height, the pump turns on to lower the water level. So you don't have to do all the work.
