I heard its the cold that gives the dark on ears and nose. Rabbits going to show can be fed for 30 mins a day in a freezer to make the dark spots really stand out.
That's absolutely true and as the weather gets colder there is also less sunlight. Not sure about the 30 min freezer thing though but the colder weather for sure. Also as they age the colours get more pronounced. We also see summer weather and the rabbits still have the dark markings too.

They are super soft too, just like a plushie.
I caught a Californian rabbit a couple of weeks ago after a short chase. I think it's a female but she doesn't like being picked up. I let her roam free around the apartment. She is litterbox trained and has been a little more comfortable with me. I can pet her and sometimes come to me, but will run away when I try to pick her up. I've tried to find her owner but no luck. Maybe she was not a pet. I'm letting her go at her own pace. My cat disappeared last month so I need another support pet. My health is not so good. Thanks John.

What a wonderful video! Oh to be able to snuggle one like you can. It’s fascinating how truly docile they are for you to be able to do that. Of all the rabbits we had we could pick up……but how they struggled to be let down. I am curious now about their fur. I had a chinchilla Persian cat with the same type of fur and she was incredibly hard to brush. Apparently the top layer of skin was loose and it pulled on her terribly if there was a knot. I miss her and my parents bunny Buddy (I called him Buns!). I am so jealous of your little crew 🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇😍
These rabbits are pretty awesome. I've never had the need to brush them as their fur is so silky smooth. It's taken some time to get them to like me...the baby bunny's are much easier, hopefully they won't change.

Yes I have Timothy hay feeders now for a while, I just made my own little wire basket hay holders seems to work well.
We raise Californian too we have a whole load of rabbits

I have a female Cali as free-roam house rabbit. My fourth rabbit as an adult. I put her age at about 5 1/2. She came from a shelter where she was returned twice. Just about a year old when I got her. Not a pick-me-up bunny a floor pet-me-please and not super affectionate but not afraid of humans. I can't speak to her early days and she may still have some trust issues.
I can back up what you say a 100%...a chill, gentle and easygoing breed. I've never had a bite

Hey, throw down some clover seeds. They may take a season to catch on but it spreads well, doesn't grow too high and the buns go crazy for it . Even the bees love the flowers.

Thank u. Californians are a great breed. Nice and big for meat or cute looking for pets. We've not sold any buns before, not to say that I would never. I may try this summer to see what kind of market there is locally here.
this is a very sweet video and your rabbits are super precious! please don’t put them on their backs though, as it is one of the most stressful and dangerous things you can do to a rabbit :( it can lead to shock or worse

Haha well I've been trying to get them to like me...chasing them is a thing, but once I have them they're fine and seem to like to cuddle.

Do you kill and eat them? Why are you breeding them?
So what happens to the boy bunnies? If you put them in with the buck, won't they fight? and if the does aren't fixed, don't they sometimes fight? My unfixed doe is sweet with humans but doesn't like other rabbits!
This is a good question. Yes rabbits fight on the regular. One hopes in a colony setting that they know each other and it happens less. And once they establish who’s top rabbit the others fall in line. We don’t keep many bucks though.

2:00 That's not true. You'll have as many as your does allow. If you were eating them, instead of letting them live rent free (the amount of poo you collect will never in a thousand years justify all the money you've spent on them), it wouldnt be an issue.
