Me too! It was the most versatile and interesting cut I ever had, and so flattering. The stylist who did it was super talented, and spent ages on it, angles all different directions, and different techniques - razor etc. Nobody has been able to do it since. I don’t really understand why people have difficulty with this cut. Aniston might have hated it, but it’s a great style.
This is such a flattering hair style The cutting technique is great and yet not complicated, and the styling perfect for todays look and not to be outdated. Your education is well done.
Love it! This is the era when I was in beauty school and when I started my career here in CA. The layers were more shaggy and chunky using chunking texturizing scissors. The trade shows had EVERY texture shear you could imagine. Aniston's hair is really thick, so, chunking texture shears were used a lot on her. Also, curl a flip at the bottom (not under)! Aniston hated this cut (her hairdresser is now sober!), but all my clients wanted it for years (1996-2000s)! :)
It just never dies. People still want it; especially women with super thick hair. It's almost like their hair WANTS to be that shape. I dig it. I think it's the cutest cut in the world.
I wanted this cut and thought bcuz u had fine hair it woukd work. Thsnk goodness my hairdresser was honest with my 14 yr old, type 1 waist length haired self. Lol.
OMG, thank you for this video! My hairdresser messed up my front hair and I did my best to follow your instructions and now I feel much better about my hair... I guess for now on I will cut my hair by myself
I'm not a hair dresser but I like watching your videos. I'd like to see older women with white hair getting a really cool hair cuts, not jus pixie cuts. Keep on keeping on!
LOL the intro song. SO great. These techniques are timeless. You can mix it up. The important thing is...CAN YOU DO IT? I am SO HERE FOR THIS being popular, again. It's gorgeous. How can you be mad at it?
Flawless Excellent Impressive Cut ...You r the most incredible, honest knowledgeable educator I hv ever seen in this industry and I mean it.. thanks for spreading and sharing your knowledge and unique techniques to us .... thanks a lot!!!!!!!
I have always loved this hairstyle and cut and given it to several of my clients and even my manager. Thanks for your clear advice about this and sharing it.
I love your video tutorials Matt and have learnt so much from you after having a complete career change and qualifying in hairdressing last year. Thanks for this throwback and keep well!
I am an Aveda Alumn, which was an amazing educational experience, but I have many friends who are Paul Mitchell Alumni, and who are uber talented stylists, actually one of my educators at Aveda graduated from Paul Mitchell. I love their products, so I'm super excited that you are doing a give away. By the way Matt, thank you so much for your overall generosity. You are an amazing talent yourself, and an off the charts instructor. Again, many thanks for giving it all you've got and then some!
I graduated from cosmetology college in 1986! I still do hair, of course not right now. I’ve done this cut numerous times! I used a more scooped out method towards the bottom and left a fairly heavy crown, Except a little texturizing in the back of the crown, for for Lift.
I’m a new hairstylist and omg this is definitely always recommended, ima try it right now on my manikin thank you soo much for elevating my skills even more!!!🙏🏼🌹🌹
I am a fresh graduate from Sassoon, and I love your work. Your tutorials are awesome, very technical, lovely and creative. Thank you for sharing and teaching. Unfortunately due to the situation, I haven't had the chance to start working in a salon yet. So meanwhile not being able to practice, your videos keep the mind working. I was stranded abroad, finally made it home, and now alone in quarantine watching your Chanel
Thanks for showing this haircut, I have been looking for the Rachael for months and haven't been able to find it done correctly. Love the face framing this haircut provides.
Hey Matt. I really enjoy your posts. They are creative and educational and I really appreciate your approach to technique and to the way you share it. And you have a great voice for doing this. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you for revisiting this hair cut, its such a classic. The issue that i have sometime is with thick Asian type hair, that will show unblended layers.
Paul Mitchell.... Hi Matt, I really enjoy and appreciate your videos. I have learned how to become comfortable when it comes to hair cutting. Your videos really inspire me and help me with hair cutting techniques. Thanks Matt.
paul mitchell ps ; love your videos! while i was in beauty school you helped me get through the cutting part of school since your techniques, videos & explanations were so much better than any of my professors!
This intro is *chefs kiss* 😚👌 Sllliiiiccckkk! I’m a licensed cosmetologist and I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and I feel like I’ve never seen this intro before!!

PAUL MITCHELL I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Demi. I have 5V on my hair as we speak. I will have this color very long term. I love how healthy my hair looks with The Demi.
Actually I am here in Saudi Arabia,,, I been here for 3 years and I am working in the salun, and I am working as hair dresser, I subscribed your channel I year ago now.... And I have learned a lot about technecs,,,
Best hair cut on women I think bc its very feminine, sexy, versatile, and it always makes you look like you have alot of hair and hair is gorgeous so lets see all of it. Great job on this one.
I love your videos :) this taught me a new technique that I'm excited for when I get back in the salon!! Thank you 😊 also I would love to see how you cut unusual hair parts like zigzag or diagonal or an extreme side part 🙂
Paul Mitchell Life is so sorreal right now with the trends. My daughters loving all the Friends stuff. But I can remember being in beauty school and a classmate of mine was engaged and had the look of Aniston. A stylist came in and picked her gave her the Aniston cut lol. Next thing you know 75% of the class had. That cut. Thanks for sharing Matt!!!!
I went for that hair cut . and the stylists used a razor she twisted all my hair and cut it with the razor . my hair is curly and now drys frizzy. . i now have to grow it out again Your education is very good love your channel. Im a stylist and i love the paul Mitchell line its very affordable.
Love this channel I’m currently doing my Cert 3 hard times during covid as there is no hands on practical so I’m relying on online video and family members letting me do there hair
My friend cut this style on her clients and she did not do anything crazy like this she layer the bottom at a certain angle and it looked beautiful exactly like the Rachael hair cut.
This is a nice technique. My issue is grey right in the middle of the top of my head. Every 3 weeks after coloring, I have this grey. Thank you for your videos❤️🇨🇦
Hello I love your tutorials absolutely amazing 🙏 could I please ask your design lines is that a vertical or horizontal guideline at the back .thankyou very much.
Hi Matt, Not sure if you will even see this but I have a question. I'm currently in Cosmetology school so I obviously dont have all the experience yet. In regards to doing any cut with layers where you cut the length in the back before layering but not in the front; How do you know when you get to the front/sides that you arent going to cut the length too short while putting the layers in so it blends with the back for that blunt line. Ps the videos you do are awesome. I watch them every day!
I like this haircut. A lot of styles back n the days r coming back with just a little swag . Matt is there a site where I can get cheaper mannequin so I can practice at home while we all r Quarantine
It's weird talking about popular looks as I think we all have cuts that suit us regardless of the period. I like this haircut, always have and I was planning to do something like this on my hair next, just pulling from the bacl and over directing to the front kind of thing.
Could you do a video with old-school very minimal front bangs? Either they cut too far back on the top and/or the side and I walk around looking like a poofed mushroom top. No one seems to understand what I mean and best scenario I end up with a fringe or curtain bang, but not the solid, straight across but not past the ends of the brows minimal bang that I loved cira 1999
Hello dear Matt, I have a question if you can answer for me please, do you have a Any salon in Northern California in bay Area if you have please let us now thank you.
This was the best haircut I've ever had! My hairdresser moved out of state and I've never been able to find anyone else to do it correctly!!!
Same! I could just let it dry naturally and it sat perfectly. It could be cut to any length so I had mine in a long version.
Some of the older styles are coming back. Thanks for sharing and showing, Matt!!
This is such a flattering hair style The cutting technique is great and yet not complicated, and the styling perfect for todays look and not to be outdated. Your education is well done.

Still working in CO...and did this face frame on my last client!!!! This is fantastic!!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you for revisiting this hair cut, its such a classic. The issue that i have sometime is with thick Asian type hair, that will show unblended layers.
Agree. I am annoyed that people think it's just a haircut. It's a technique and you can change this up by how you over direct.
Yeah it will take blending which will take weight off your hair.
Very beautiful haircut and you have shown it in a very simple way to do it Thank you😊
Paul Mitchell.... Hi Matt, I really enjoy and appreciate your videos. I have learned how to become comfortable when it comes to hair cutting. Your videos really inspire me and help me with hair cutting techniques. Thanks Matt.

The stylist should not have used a hair cutting razor on your curls for that reason alone. I won’t even do it on my curly hair clients
Love this channel I’m currently doing my Cert 3 hard times during covid as there is no hands on practical so I’m relying on online video and family members letting me do there hair
