    As a 60+ year old woman with 60+ years of painful, often agonizing guts & reflux, thank you. I went low carb years ago, dropped 31kegs and healed all my gut problems upper & lower but Aussie dieticians are obsessed with gut microbiome and telling us we'll get cancer if we don't eat grains everyday. That scared me back into obesity and beer guzzling via carb addiction.
    Watching your vids had me purge the cupboards and fridge and restored my faith in low carb lifestyle.

    I always found high fibre intake caused me to be constipated, no matter that I exercised, drank lots of water, etc....I feel so much better leaning heavy to the Carnivore side. It's true that bowel movements are less frequent and much smaller, but what difference in how I feel. Plus gas and bloating are non existent now. We've been told so much bullshit over the past few decades, that it's really harmed our health. Dr. Cywes is leading people back to better health. The whole bullshit about needing so much fibre can be found in Dr. Ken Berry's book "Lies my doctor told me" I own it and it's an awesome read" It will discuss fibre, salt, fat, cholesterol, calcium, wheat, nuts and seeds, food pyramid, etc...

      *It makes sense that your body would want to take longer and absorb more nutrients out of the meat and have less poop.* Ever eat McDonalds and take a giant shit? Logically, it’s because it’s all full of processed empty calories and crap; hence, why your body wants to get rid of it quickly and absorb less nutrients from it.

    • @ricpelkey8530

      @@CreatingintheWaiting Sorry for late reply Arlene. Just noticed your reply. In Dr. Berry's book it's Chapter 15. The Lie "Eating or drinking too much calcium can lead to kidney stones" No research has shown the relationship between high calcium intake and kidney stones. Also Dr. Berry suggests keeping a better eye on Vitamin D3 levels. He claims this is the nutrient most women are deficient in and which is important in increasing bone strength. It's a great book. There is also an electronic version in addition to the paper version. Interestingly enough, he also claims drinking milk or dairy isn't necessary (we are pushed by the dairy industry, sales...sales... sales) and we can get plenty of calcium from a natural whole foods diet with kale, sardines, broccoli, okra, and almonds.

Unfortunately in the moment he is fascinated by the ridiculous zone diet of Dr Barry Sears. Diet very high in fibre and very low on fat. Either Chicken Beef and occasionally Turkey... I make my broth with parsley onion garlic and celery... Eggs I go thru quite a few and if my chickens ever start laying I will have to go thru more... CUCUMBER Zuchini Avacado and I cook meats w onions and garlic... its manditory expecially after this BBBE event... the side I eat of veggies as a rule is maybe a half cup maybe 3 to 4 times a week.

      Lightbulb moment for me with your comment here! May I ask… what kind of digestive enzymes?? How did you feel on and off the enzymes?? I am about 5.5 months 80% animal based. I don’t have a gall bladder and a couple months ago I started taking HCL Guard+ (Healthy Gut brand) for low stomach acid issues, which did seem to help quite a bit. Then I also added the Holozyme enzymes (also Healthy Gut) because I’m dealing with some hair loss from loosing 67 lbs in less than 10 months as well as low estrogen, and wanted to make sure I was breaking down absorbing all the nutrients from all the meat, fish, and eggs I’m eating. And then… I added in Tributyrin-X (Healthy Gut) because all three are suppose to work together. Carnivore Yogi talks about these supplements in some her videos and I thought I’d give them a try. In your experience do you think I’m kind of shooting myself in the foot and taking these supplements is unnecessary? Maybe I should just stick to the HCL Guard+ 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

    Wish my Mom could have had this information. About 10 years ago she had 18 inches of her colon removed for precancerous polyps and then a few months later had hemorrhoidectomy. Those two surgeries just a few months apart nearly killed her. In her younger years she ate all the crap in an effort to be thin (always just 20-30 pounds overweight) and ended up with diabetes anyway later in life. Did the low-fat, high fiber, high carb, multi-grain diet as was recommended by food pyramid and all the diets of the time. Thought food like whole grain crackers were healthy and the margarine and seed oil products. She lived to be 82 but the last few years of her life were made miserable by gut and intestinal distress and preoccupation and the long goodbye that is dementia. What a crime the medical, food, and pharmaceutical industries have committed against the American people. Thanks to docs like Cywes who are getting the word out about all the lies we’ve been told. Ive done it enough to know that I feel much better when I stick to carnivore and some low carb veg. I believe my Mom would still be alive if she had been able to make these changes.

That was the beginning of my journey into figuring out how to eat things that would not try try to kill me. I have been on this journey for 10 months and ended up Low carb Ketovour With a couple of days of PSMF a week My body just Naturally poops on its own now every couple of days... Thanks Rob, you are making more and mores sense of my actual experience as a 3 year keto veteran - particularly because of your recent introduction of the idea of cycling in and out of ketosis using gluconeogenesis. The pieces of the puzzle are beginning to fit much better for me. This video likewise explains why I notice a distinctly different kind of bowel movement on the keto/carnivore diet. They didn't examine me, & told me everything I was reporting wasn't possible; Nothing I was reporting was Possible. I now have stage 1 GI cancer & looking at a possible GI resectioning. I get colonoscopies every 6 months, that's the only treatment I get. Thanks for your vids Dr.; US Dr's don't have to help you, & if you die, they're done listening to you whine, so they're good. This is a great vid, bc I have some bacteria overgrowth, just started taking (pro/prebiotics), & was planning on taking them for abt 6 months, to get back on track. So far I actually like the results from the supp I'm taking, & hoping the 6 month period will help at least a little. I have a few disabling medical conditions that aren't really being managed by Dr's, so I'm just grasping at straws trying to figure out how to feel better. We can't digest fibre. We don't have beta amylases to breakdown the beta 1-4 and 1-6 glycosidic linkages. It therefore provides no nutritional value and is therefore not essential. The very little short chain free fatty acids are not adequate enough to consider it essential, we also make those fatty acids endogenously in our livers.

    • @johnfontana7256
      @johnfontana7256 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Prefer sinking, floaters show poor fat digestion . Gallbladder insufficiency( not enough bile) released when eating fats. Also low stomach acid.Eating carbs with fats , or overeating ,will hinder digestion. Eating quality fats( no Crisco or seed oils) and proteins earlier in the day, chewing thoroughly,and eating on an empty stomach( better bile release when not grazing all day)I suffered for four decades of high carb, low fat ,until I found out why nature put a soap bag attached to my liver. I guess if you have constipation, it might be good but if you don't have constipation and your poop is not firm, has no shape to it with green color?? is that mean you poop too early before you fully absorbed all the nutrition out of the food??

    major problem with reflux and suffer from dehydration which gives me a very hard dehydrated poop in the morning cause I am lucky at 74 I don't have to get up in the night. I sweat profusely through out the day and especially at night. I drink over 3 litres of fluid a day. My diet since early 2020 has been minimal carb and high fat ( not seed oil)and lost 13 kg this way. Have not gained weight back but do eat a fresh fruit nut dnd yoghurt breakfast. My doctors keep advising more fibre!! and recommend laxatives which I refuse, but looks like I am going to have to ditch my favourite breakfast for bacon and eggs. Have had polyps removed several times and have been diagnosed with diverticulosis, get lots of lower abdominal pain at odd times. Thanks for the advice Coming from a farm here in NZ have always eaten loads of fresh fruit, but this may have to change ( Don't drink or smoke but looks like one of my last pleasures will need to be restricted)

    So much can be learned about our health from our gut/poop and we never talk about it - even with our doctors and it's just stupid. We all poop. And because we all have a different gut biome, we all poop differently.
    I learned about 10 years ago (and maybe this is bad, I don't know...) but when I eat low carb, I poop MUCH less. I poop every 2-3 days. It can go as long as every 7 days. And when I poop, my poop is not dry and hard, but just a normal poop that took a long time to work itself through my gut/body.
    When I eat higher-carb foods, within a day or two, I need to poop every day. Again, it's normal, but it's more than twice the volume. I've never heard of that for anyone else, but since we never talk about poop, maybe it's common.

    Dr Cywes, could you possibly at some point explain the idea of physiological insulin resistance? It’s a new concept that I just recently learned of, and I’m not sure if I should be concerned.
    I’ve been LC for several years now, and I’ve been seeing my fasting glucose level rise bit by bit. I just had a blood test last week where my FBG (after a 16 hr fast) was 93 (I know that’s considered “normal”, but was a bit higher than I had expected it to be).

    • @oysteinsoreide4323
      @oysteinsoreide4323 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having that level should not worry you at all. And as long as you have stable weight, you should also not worry. But if you see that you lose muscles, and gain weight even on low carb, then you may have to find out why it happens. High cortisol, too much stress, too little sleep etc may cause insulin reistance even on a low carb diet as a cortisol triggers high level of transformation of muscles into sugar. Blood sugar is much more stable on a low carb diet than on a carb based diet. And the level isn't necesarly very low.

    My lab tests are in. And I'm confused. I don't know what is what any more. I always felt bad after eating carbs, my body weight has dropped a lot from last year. No energy, always want to eat, drink. I started thinking that I might be Type 1 diabetic. So I got tested. I drank glucose, for 2 hour test. To see blood sugar and insulin. After one hour passed i felt I'm gonna die. All body shaking, almost lost consciousness. I went to pee 3 times in one hour. I don't know why, but I pee so often especially after carbs. So... Tests show that I'm not type 1. I made insulin. Way to much of it. Normal marker limit was 25, mine was almost 35. Blood sugar was normal. So my pancreus makes tons of insulin. But what's the point ? If I pee all sugar immediately ? I can't gain any weight. I have severe psoriasis. So I understand that my gut lining is destroyed. Poop tests shows that my gut don't digest proteins properly to. So final thoughts: no matter what I eat or drink, everything pass through and I don't absorb anything.

  • @rosseryn8216
    @rosseryn8216 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dr. Cywes, I know the carnivore diet seems to work well, for me and others. The historical data strongly supports a very high level meat intake at the top of the food chain, above lions and wolves. The only way for that to occur would have been by consuming lions and wolves or other large carnivores. The health benefits of going carnivore do not appear to be short term (7 to 14 yrs) like veganism. The stomach acid of a human appears designed specifically for handling meat and the intestine design does as well, much closer to a lion than a gorilla. I do have a question though. How are butyrates, akkermansia muciniphila, bifidobacterium produced on a carnivore diet? There appears to be a lot of research showing the importance of these things to the very foundation of health. Also there appears to be a lot of research that shows some specific fibrous foods produce them, while a fatty diet reduces them. It appears that the two theories cannot coincide however maybe like other things in the past it is simply due to a lack of the current knowledge level and a dogmatic approach from both sides. As an older and lifelong raiser and very detailed observer of true pastured and forested cattle, goats, sheep, hogs and chickens I have a theory that in the past it would have been produced by polyphenols or some other currently unknown thing in the meat from these animals. All of these animals will selectively eat the most nutrient dense items in there niche. Animals that eat forbs and deep rooted woody leaf forage or the bugs that eat them should have a high concentration of polyphenols in the meat such as larger fish have high concentrations of mercury because they concentrate the nutrients/contaminants of things lower in the food chain. However, after many many hours of searching I have found no research to support or discredit this theory of polyphenol concentration in the meat that might produce the butyrates, akkermansia muciniphila or bifidobacterium. Any thoughts on how to reconcile this dichotomy with the current knowledge we have?
