Its all fun and games with magpies, until swooping season. Those buggers remember! We feed the ones around our home and they leave us alone for the most part. Great clips.
I got a small amount of tiftuf and i recently ran my hand held thatching rake over it and pulled loads out hoping it come back really good. (Big green shed had 12 slabs out for 2bucks
Thanks for the PrimoMaxx hint, I have TifTuff which loves to get seed heads in patches. I mow twice a week and water regularly, so this will hopefully resolve it. As its unsightly on such a beautiful lawn.
@@LawnTips I have some coming this week. I have a small paspalum problem on the nature strip. Will that die off or will I still need to dig out after pre-emergent?
I have some urine spots from my dog in my tiftuf lawn. Can I just rake out the old grass and some top soil covering for it to grow back? I can't find tiftuf seeds... Appreciate your suggestions!
Loving your videos, thanks. You mention it’s time for pre-emergence now; can I apply CK88 now too or should I wait on that? Hope you or someone can answer please
Dog whiz spots can be fixed with a handful of table sugar on each spot. Give it 3 weeks and it will likely look better than the surrounding grass. Highly recommend at least one app of organic fertilizer per year (if not 10 apps) to help keep the whiz spots from appearing at all.
Hey, do you guys ever add earthworms to a garden? I used to do that over in South Africa as it really helped lower maintenance but it seems no one sells them here?
Whays the best months to put down prodiamine here in the states?? Would it be March which is very, very end of winter or very, very beginning of spring??
You should be good to do it at the beginning of spring mate. Won't be a problem at all. You can always do it earlier as well as long as the ground isn't frozen.
Hey Ben, love the channel mate! Ive got tiftuf that I laid just after you laid your brothers and I put down a pre emergent about 2 weeks before I laid it. Would it be safe to do another application for the upcoming winter grass season? Cheers mate and keep up the great content! 🤙
Around ANZAC Day is a rough guide for pre-emergents for Winter. If your area suffers a cold snap, bump it forward. Using Oxafert/Oxapro/4 Seasons will control the residuals as Ben said anyway.
Hey mate, You could put down some more pre-emergent as well. Something like oxapro again would suit well. I woudn't go using something like Embargo or Barricade until the lawn is a little older.
You don't have to, but if you are scalping down to dirt, you should scarify because it will also get rid of the below ground thatch. Scalping only get's the above ground thatch.
@@LawnTips Thanks! What's the secret to not scalping TifTuf when mowing with the rotary? I mow on a weekly basis at around 20mm and find that it is hard to avoid scalp marks. Yours looks amazing!
Heard when you hit 100k your giving away the toro to a sub in nz.. I will take it bro message me on Facebook for my address mate🤣 the bros lawn looks great tiftuff was the way to go by the looks for him
Being Aussie that “yo mate what up” really hits home

Wow its expensive for hardcopy 😂
Hey Ben, would love to see you run the cylinder mower over the tif tuf - would love to see the before and after shots. Lawn looks great
Will do it soon 🤙🏼
I remember when you took it down to the dirt. That lawn has come a long way.

Haha very true
Yo mate, waddup. Welcome to another lawn tips vid 🧢😏
That was a sweet flip mate!
Not sure if it’s me or just the fact that I haven’t seen green grass in a few months...but MAN, that grass is green. 🤤
Not long now my man!
Ben I see you used your stunt double to push the mower haha ;)
I’ve been waiting on this update! Seed heads can result from transplant stress in the first year as well
Just brought the digital guide my man 👌🏻🏠🌱

Lol, thought you changed clothes for the mow. 😎
Give us a two year update on Josh’s lawn, I would love to know how it’s held up.

2 bucks each that is.

I respect him
3:12 makes me feel like we're friends haha
I said homeowners 😂
Looks great!
What time in QLD should we be getting pre-emergent down? And what to use on QLD blue?
I’d be getting it down now mate!
Oxa pro would work well, barricade or even embargo will work.
@@LawnTips I have some coming this week. I have a small paspalum problem on the nature strip. Will that die off or will I still need to dig out after pre-emergent?
Would love to see how it'd turn out with a rotary mower with a roller!

You can do that for sure! Won't be an issue at all.
I'd love to get my hands on one of those books. How can I do that?

What Lawn mower do you use?
Looks good. Why is seed head bad? Also any tips re dog wee on couch
I never said it’s bad, just normal to see it and usually a sign of stress.
Diluting the wee is the best way. Plus using less nitrogen in your ferts
@@LawnTips ok cool.
Why do you use push mowers vs a ride on?
Hi Ben love the vids does how does tiftuf go in the winter looking to put some down at my place in Canberra cheers
Hey mate, goes a little brown and won't grow at all.
Thanks for the guide. Helping me become the grass guy in my street. As a new home owner it's fun converting shit lawn into the envy of the street.
Haha, love it mate
Hi Ben ebooks are out of stock on the website you provide 🤔🤔🤔🤔
When was the last time you didn't mow someone's lawn on the weekend?
Hey, do you guys ever add earthworms to a garden? I used to do that over in South Africa as it really helped lower maintenance but it seems no one sells them here?
You mentioned putting down preemergent now. Is that ok to do on new turf as long as its established?
Usually with new turf oxapro is safer. I’d wait until it’s around 6 months old for barricade or embargo
Hey Ben, what if your lawn has been 50 % destroyed by scarab already. Is there any solution?
where can we actually find the book on your website
Get that 💯!

I have asked this before on a previous video. Do you need to scarify if you scalp couch down to almost dirt?
You don't have to, but if you are scalping down to dirt, you should scarify because it will also get rid of the below ground thatch. Scalping only get's the above ground thatch.
Hey man, how long after putting down turf can you apply barricade? I'm about to lay wintergreen and want to get it down asap after
Usually you need to wait a few months at least
Wow! My lawn next? hahaha
haha, I'm on my way
Hi Ben, just wondering what is the best seed type to over-seed perennial rye with?? Thank you 🤙
More perennial rye would be ideal. Otherwise you could go something like kentucky bluegrass as well.
What height did you mow with the rotary mower?
About 25mm.

Yep, sure is
How long until a few trees "die"?
been trying to get an golf course apprenticeship at the age of 26 and no luck so far any advies for me
Just keep asking around man. I'm sure something will come up!
I have to be honest right now, I get confused with the seasons when I watch your videos. I live in New York. Lawns look good though.
Summer right now. Just think the opposite to New York .
whats going on ur bent grass?
I sprayed the bent out a long time ago. It’s back to TifTuf now
Lawn looks LUSH. Makes me excited to cut my grass again. Is that a road runner?
At the end? That was a magpie
Hey Ben don’t feed the magpies mince unless your have a powder calcium vitamin powder mixed with it (same stuff you give pet lizards )👍
That is looking really impressive , apologies if I missed you mention but what height did you cut that with the rotary ?
At the moment it's about 25mm
Can anyone tell me does mowing your lawn high stop weeds. Trying to stop an argument with brother
Short answer: no. It will reduce weeds taking hold, but won't stop all weeds germinating.
It can slow them down, but as Chevron said, it won't stop them.
"Hi" "bra" "stop it" 🤣🤣🤣
Haha, glad someone noticed 😂
@@LawnTips had to slow it down to see what it said
