*yes.. SuJu is the one who invented the rotational military hiatus to make sure that the group would always be active even if few members are in the military..
*SuJu has the most published and talk about fight story... the more you'll get to see them on variety shows the more you'll hear about their fights.. Actually nowadays, they don't fight a lot so they always get excited if they'll sense a fight coming so that they'll have something to talk about in their next guestings..
*the Bonamana showed here is the rock version which is what they always performed in concerts.. the original version sounds way different from it.
*almost everyone in SuJu has experience in Musical Acting although only Sungmin, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun really made a career out of it. Yesung does musical too but not as much as the other 3 his last show was in 2019 and fun fact Yesung is also the first idol to debut as a musical actor in 2009.

Glad you like Trot, it's so underrated! Leeteuk is actually a fan. He was not only in SuJu T, he also conceived and hosted a Trot idol group casting show "Favorite Entertainment" which created the group "Super Five". SuJu also did Trot Karaoke battles among themselves, which were hilarious. Since the aesthetic of Trot is very much what in the west we would call "camp", it was made for SuJu, and the songs of SuJu T merged pop and trot and thus had a cross generational appeal. "Rokkugo" was a huge hit in Korea at the time, and they still perform it, in SS8 in a fabulous hip hop version. Both the Korean and the Japanese MVs are great fun.

@@kpopauntie That would be great. As far as I know you would be the only reactor to do so! Even though you don't like twofers, maybe you could do both the Korean and Japanese version of "Rokkugo" because the videos are completely different. Since the Japanese version is not on an official channel, I doubt that the reaction will get blocked.

1) That Chinese Historical Movie you saw Siwon fighting was actually a Jackie Chan movie , casting John Cusack and Adrien Brody (whom you find him familiar)
2) To add on to Kyuhyun's car accident injury, he had a few broken ribs which was piercing his lungs, which is why it was life-threatening and he was in coma for 4 days. The doctor treating Kyuhyun at the time said that in order to repair Kyuhyun's pierced lungs he would have to pierce a hole into his neck, thus ending his career as a singer. Kyuhyun's father, who once vehemently opposed his son's career, was the first to immediately reject the operation, stating that Kyuhyun would rather die than not be able to sing. He pleaded that the doctor find another way to repair his son's lungs. In spite of this, doctors insisted that even with the surgery Kyuhyun "had about a 20 percent chance to live." After fierce debate between his parents and doctors, another surgeon suggested an alternative operation that would instead make an incision in the ribs. Fortunately the surgery went well, but it took 78 days for Kyu to discharge from hospital.
3) Leeteuk had 150 stitches from this same car accident.
4) Kyuhyun's 5 consecutive wins in King of Mask:
- In order to be crowned, he had to go through 3 rounds in that episode, competing with other contestants and eventually with the defending champion.
- He became the first male idol who won the title "King of Mask", even though this show has been around for 4 years (in 2019)
- He continued to defend this title for another 4 more consecutive episodes.
So, to answer your question, it's not just 5 wins in general, but literally 5 consecutive wins /episodes

He must have been cut up real bad. And that had to have been such a hard thing for Kyuhyun's father to argue for, even if he knew it would have been what Kyuhyun wanted. Wouldn't make it easier to make a decision that could kill your child.

The "l" in "Leeteuk" is silent, that is why according to an older transcription it was also spelled "Eeteuk", or the transcription of his name in Japanese is "Ituk". For short he is called Teuk or Teukie (the "k" is pronounced softly, more like a "g"). He has actually made his MC disease a very successful profession on the side: He is one of Korea's most sought-after MCs, he moderates everything from awards shows to the Miss Korea pageant.
True that other groups cover up their conflicts more, but that backfired on SuJu a bit because someone termed them a "show window group" who only pretend to be close. That definitely isn't true, as could recently be seen when Eunhyuks father died: even former members went to visit him. SuJu in general let us see more behind the scenes than other groups, but one does have to remember that even with them this is selective, controlled and partly scripted. And you also have to remember cultural differences how people manage emotions in public and even in private.
The man in the grey shirt who says Leeteuk is an excellent leader was a psychologist. At the beginning of the year Leeteuk was voted the best K-Pop leader in a poll in Forbes Korea. :) He does even more behind the scenes than most people know, from initiating the official Korean music charts, to founding SuJu's own label to designing their lightstick. In addition to the usual idol skills of singing and dancing, he plays several instruments, is a great speaker, and he has a degree in management. Even though he looks like the slightly stressed mom and flirty ditzy girl, he's actually whip-smart. :) He also had a terrible tragedy in his family, his father went broke, committed suicide and killed his parents because he couldn't support them. Leeteuk paid the debts even though he didn't have to, and throughout many other troubles with SuJu he cared for the members. So by all indication, he's both sensitive and strong.

SJ is the 2nd generation idol. who are still doing activities until now and have lost very few members if compared to the original number Currently, there are 10 members. One person is taking a break from group work and doing solo activities instead. Super Junior doesn't just have a job to sing. But their work is diverse in all areas of the industry.

Super Junior members have great personalities and know how to laugh at themselves. They had Shinhwa, a first generation former SM group, as their role models. Shinhwa is WILD. They were the first k-pop variety idols. They were actors, comedians, athletes and appeared on all types of variety shows, bungee jumping, dating shows, etc. They choreograph their own dances and were the first to have solo careers while still in their group. Shinhwa was the first group to leave their company (SM) as a group once their contract expired to create their own company, Shinhwa Company. They fought with SM for years to get the rights to their name. Part of the reason I think Suju was able to branch off to form a subsidiary company under SM was because of the Shinhwa incident. Shinhwa is still together after 20+ years and have never replaced or lost a single member.
When Shinhwa left SM, their managers became Suju managers. Shinhwa were variety stars. They smoked, drank, dated publicly, fist-fought each other in front of other idols, put out a semi-nude photo album, etc. Suju grew up watching Shinhwa act crazy. Whenever Suju started acting up, they were accused of being Shinhwa-like. Those managers knew how to deal with bad behavior a bit more by the time Suju were under their charge. LOL
Super Junior was the first group to include a foreign member, Han Geng. In 2009 he filed a lawsuit for discrimination and left Suju. His lawsuit was absolutely justified and he won his lawsuit. At the time, Korea had very strict laws against foreign workers. Korea wasn't prepared and didn't quite know how to deal with that so he suffered greatly. He was limited in the type of work he could do and limited in the number of appearances he could make, etc. Often times he was forced to wear a mask and pretend to be a backup dancer so his face didn't show. I recall one instance where Heechul tore off Han Geng's mask at a performance because he knew it wasn't right. Han Geng was terrified. Sujo is very close to other SM artists, especially TVXQ. All of them used to live together and trained together. Second generation groups from different agencies got along well and even hung out. They even associated with female groups unlike today. There weren't too many groups so it was easier to get to know others. There was no social media either. I find first and second generation groups behavior and attitudes to be the best.
As for Sungmin not participating with Suju because of his marriage, it wasn't just the fans. There were a few issues with Sungmin and the members themselves regarding the marriage. Sadly, if Suju wanted him to participate, especially now after all these years, he probably could. Most of the disapproving fans are mostly gone and fans want to see Sungmin. Chen from EXO got married and even has 2 kids now. Of course some fans demanded the outing of Chen but all the EXO members wouldn't have it and he's still an active member of EXO.
Some fans truly are crazy. When Suju expanded to China they included 2 new Chinese boys. Some of these crazy fans complained about adding 2 new members so they staged demonstrations, threatened to boycott and even bought shares in SM stock to block the two. That's why they are considered only members of Suju-M. That's also why you hear some fans say Suju is 15 instead instead of 13.
The story of Kyuhyun's accident is even more touching. Surgery was needed to save his life but it would've ruined his voice. His father was very against his son's career choice but his father was the one who begged the doctors to find other means to save his son because he knew how much singing meant to his son.

Thanks so much - loved laughing along with you while watching! As a recent SuJu fan and Aussie girl, I have to say there is something unique about these talented but crazy and chaotic guys. Their bond of brotherhood, formed over so many years with each other and shared with ELF, gives them a very close, caring, family-type relationship that seems to resonate with and help assuage the loneliness and lack of connection some people feel today. Discovered SuJu through watching one of Siwon's many dramas during Covid19 lockdown (he's recently been filming three at the same time!) so while he'll always have that special place in my heart, the other guys are simply irresistible! (Their music introduced me to K-pop and I love it so much I don't listen to much else!)

Leeteuk is not only a leader to SJ but kind of leader of the SM artists, coz he's known to be very helpful and supportive of his junior artists. And I have read somewhere, that after he had gone difficulties in his own life, he experienced a big blow in his mental health, luckily he got thru it by the help of his members, family and friends. Thus, he suggested and started somekind of a mental awareness support group for SM artists. That's one of the reasons he is respected so much.
On another note, SJ is the kpop group that has so many firsts and even created so many standards for kpop group, especially those debuted after 2nd gen. SJ was the 1st group that has a comedian, singer, song writer, actor, DJs, MCs, models, musical actors since debut. Because SJ 05 was originaly meant as a gateway for them to enter their respective fields, but then SM dismissed the idea. Therefore, those talents were found in 1 group. That's why after SJ, so many entertainment companies trained their trainees to have multi talents.
SJ was the 1st group also to recieve awards not only as singers/idols, but also as DJs, actors, MCs, variety shows and musical actors..

Loved this, I have no other guides to recommend as this one is my favourite ha, but I saw someone link one that gives a good history of their impact on the music industry.
Getting their names and faces will obviously come when you watch more content where they talk to eachother. Ryeowook has the hardest name I've had to learn in Kpop so far 🤣.. it's like loads of the letters just get thrown out and they say 'ryowk' as one syllable.
I've seen someone fill you in on the details of Kyuhyun's incident, the injuries listed really help give an idea of the impact! I'm sure he said he was sleeping, so I imagine he had less time to brace and when he hit the road his ribs broke, pierced his lungs and he fell into a coma. Suju had to carry on working while he was in hospital and they were clearly upset. They've rightly let him get away with mur.der ever since 😅.
Same with Leeteuk.. I saw a comment mentioning his background. I like a lot of groups, but there is no leader as incredible as Leeteuk: so innovative and smart while trying to keep a load of wild man children in check, dealing with a triple bereavement whilst in the military and having to continue his service after the funeral and pay off the debt. And because of his position he finds it hard to offload and struggles with loneliness. He's my ultimate bias because he's been through so much and is such a great guy 💙 and yet STILL so misunderstood.
I would love to see you do another member guide if people suggest another good one. Can never get enough SuJu 😆.
My absolute fave song is KRY's My Love My Kiss My Heart (live) for vocal power... you have to stop and remind yourself it's only 3 people singing!
I also personally love their rockier songs and the live versions of Bonamana etc where they up the energy. So good. And with SuJu everything is better live!!

So glad you got to a guide! I knew it was coming at some point, and I'm glad that day is today. One of my favorite SuJu guides for a while was "A Long-ass Guide to Super Junior," and as the name implies, it's almost as long as this one. Today, it's a bit outdated as it was released in 2018, but it does have more info on other members that aren't included in this guide, such as Kangin, Hangeng, Kibum, and the SuJu-M members, Zhoumi and Henry. It's also more of a crack video than this guide, so it's pretty funny.

I became a SuJu Fan late 2014. Heechul is my bias but I like Sungmin and wondered why he didnt come back. what I found out was a bit deeper.
Sungmin told his Korean fans that he wasn't getting married, but told his Chinese fans about it. The way Sungmin handled the situation is what caused Korean ELFs to react the way they did. It wasn't that they simply didn't want Sungmin to marry. They felt betrayed by his actions, but the worst part is when Leeteuk's grandfather had died at the same time and it was considered disrespectful to still continue the wedding during the funeral/mourning period. They didn't reschedule the wedding.

Leeteuk's family tragedy occurred in January 2014, Sungmin didn't get married until December 2014, so I'm not sure how this could be deemed 'at the same time'. This just one of the lies concocted by the akgae fans who campaigned for Sungmin to leave. Have you noticed the Kyuhyun stans who are now urging him to leave the group completely? Same people ...

An ELF but you might want to try watching the concert of Japan’s popular male idol group named Arashi. Their concerts are a whole different experience. 😃

Just a guide on how to pronounce their names easily (trust me I can relate on you in this matter hehe) Leeteuk is pronunced as Eetuk (the L is silent), Siwon is Shiwon, Ryeowook is Reewook, Eunhyuk is Unyuk, Kyuhyun is Qyun. Maknae is also pronounced as mangnae. Fellow elfs you can correct me too on this. Thanks once again for your fun and nice reaction on the guide💙

This was the one which actually introduced me to Siwon, then which lead me to Super Junior💙

I recommend watching "How to Pronounce Ryeowook" by K Splash, since it's very hard to write how to pronounce his name. Actually, K Splash has videos for all the members, so it could be helpful to watch all of them :)

Mmmm Suju has a loooong history, so it's ok to take your time to get to know them slowly from future videos heheheh
That was one of my favorite dark beers. It's very smooth and a little creamy. Not bitter or hoppy at all. It's a slow-sipper. Something to drink in front of a fire on a cold day, not to chug for refreshment on a hot day.
It took them 10years to come back to a whole group again : )

Oh, I've heard of Shinhwa. Haven't heard anything from them, but I do know they were early Kpop, so you may be right.
