Mike, you can change how long the chat messages are up for. Default is 3 seconds. I have mine set to 10 seconds always. Another thing about losing your way, here's what I always do: take 2 stacks of torches always, and put a torch on the LEFT wall every 10-15 blocks or so, and if I'm in a large cave that needs more torches, I always place any torches NOT on the left wall sticking straight up out of the ground. This way you know if the wall torches are on your right or the ground torches are on your left, you're going back the way you came.
Just finished watching all four parts of this stream at 1.25 playback speed over 2 weeks. It was really entertaining to come back to watch every while. Now I feel like playing Minecraft.
You should fight the wither next, it's a boss that's far scarier and more powerful than the ender dragon. You can summon a wither with 3 wither skulls and soul sand, the wither skulls are a rare drop from wither skeletons so you'll need the looting 3 enchantment.

Very entertaining run (though I did watch all 4 videos at 2x speed). I've always preferred the Java version of Minecraft, because it doesn't have all the nickel-and-dime-ing and you can create your own skin for free and do many, many other things for free. BUT it would require use of a mouse (not sure if there's a way to play it with a controller). Anyway, in Java Minecraft, there are hundreds of adventure maps you can download that people have created and they fall under various genres. Survival, competitive multiplayer, puzzle, adventure, platforming (or parkour), some are light in story, some are heavy in story. I've been making maps for about 10 years but they're all about mazes and puzzle solving. I'm semi-retired with the map-making since the 1.16 update. In my opinion, that update ruined many things about Minecraft. The Zombie Pigman was removed entirely (replaced with some piglin thing) and a bug, which still hasn't been patched, was introduced that makes you unable to use commands to modify block states, which was essential to my map-building.
And so the Minecraft streams end as Mike's meme video did...with him being killed by Inspector Gadget. Looking forward to having a look around this video upload since the original stream of this was 9 hours 35 minutes long and I wonder what hour of material was cut out. I hope you gave the skeletons some congratulatory steaks because without them you might have never found the Nether Fortress. Games that still need a link on your games I've beaten on stream list: -Master Of Darkness (Sega Master System) -Dynamite Cop (Sega Dreamcast) -Space Invaders (Game Boy Advance)
Also the purple stuff was dragon breath which you can get rid of with bottles and by shooting the end crystals on the towers it makes it so the dragon doesn't regain health
good job finding that fortress. I'm glad you're the one who found it and the way you found it. Playing minecraft especially with a friend is the closest you can get to being a goonie. When you were recapping everything about the experience after you killed the dragon it reminded me of that feeling of being a kid and being really excited about a great game.
Wish i could've somehow played through this with you two. Think I couldve helped a lot and maybe prepared you more for that final boss. The other towers had cages that blocked arrows, so its best to climb the towers and break the cages so you can get a clean shot of the crystals to stop the boss from healing altogether. The crystals explode though so you'd have to be careful if breaking them upclose. That said, you guys broke just enough crystals and did just enough damage together, but it just wouldve been smoother if you knew exactly what to expect which would've probably made it a more enjoyable ending. I also would've brought obsidian to make a nether portal with a highway back to your base before even starting the fight, if I was with you guys, just so you can get back quickly afterwards or restock if needed. You can actually fight the dragon again, it just takes a few end crystals to respawn it, which are pretty easy to craft. Glass, ender eyes, and some ghast tears. Also you asked many times and no one ever answered, but wool can be dyed almost any color, so...That includes pink for your cute bedroom, but most importantly yellow blocks for the money bin. So not every single block would need to be gold, you can even just dye sheep and keep collecting their dyed wool to use as blocks. Maybe you would've liked some cute pink beds too? I doubt you'll stream this again, and I'm a stranger, but if you do want to fight the Wither or even just do more of this game in general, I wouldn't mind helping out with all of this stuff either. Just throwing it out there! Anyways, thanks for the streams!
I couldnt climb the towers because i was continually being bombarded by endermen. Yeah no one ever answered about the dye. Good idea about the gold. Yes im done with it for now.
4:03:25 LOL Mike's reaction upon finally finding the Nether Fortress should be the new Gadget meme 😄 Hilarious end to the Mike Matei and Gadget Minecraft Saga 😆 Highly enjoy these chill multi-stream games -LinkToTheShaft▲
I skipped ahead to see the Nether exploring stuff, and on a single click I stumbled on the exact moment where Mike falls as he's going after the lost bow. Triumphant stuff, especially since I've never played the game myself (I assume those who've done it many times don't really get excited when finding the fortress or anything).
Suprisingly the game maintains a pretty good sense of exploration even after many playthroughs, so many different biomes and the procedural generation makes it work nicely.
they can't open doors longs you don't have the plate on the ground they can walk over it and open the door. you need a button on the walk to open the doors with
Mike, for the carpal tunnel, have you tried a "vertical" or "handshake grip" mouse? They have a tilted surface that lets you hold your hand at a more natural angle. It worked great for me.
I’ve been playing Minecraft myself lately. I like it. It’s fun. Survival mode is definitely more rewarding. That said, I think I prefer Valheim overall. Minecraft does a lot of things better, like tons more build pieces and no structural integrity on your builds, so you can build basically anything you want, but I also think Valheim does things better too, like gameplay, graphics, and game progression.
Maybe at this point if they updated Valheim. I hope they keep working on that game. If they keep adding stuff and fixing it, maybe I'd try it again someday. Main thing, they need to fix the item management in that game.
@@mikematei There’s actually an update currently in open beta that improves item management. You can auto stack items into chests, even without having to actually open the chest. The update also adds more content. You can also tweak difficulty settings and adjust certain things. Been in beta for a couple of weeks and the update should drop officially any time now. It’s called Hildir’s Quest if you’re curious and want to look into it.
Fuck yeah! GG to both of you! You inspirit me to start playing this game. Have setup a server so me, my daughter and her boyfriend can all play together. We're playing in survival mode and having a blast. Thanks for the entertainment!
Love watching Mike but man he cant do anything w/out it being a 5 alarm fire. Just completely freaks out with any little thing. Inspector Gadget! Inspector Gadget!!!!
Watching you Mike beat Minecraft without seeing 80% of the content of the game made me realise just how pointless it all is. There's no need to explore other biomes and no need to visit any of the structures besides the Nether Fortress, you can find everything you need to beat the game right from the start. The game is still a lot of fun but it's missing that... progression?... aspect. Maybe one day you will play Terraria (With maximum zoom, old man).
I went around and explored some other biomes with a rowboat off stream. As you said, didn't seem like there was a point to go to them when I knew what my goals were. Maybe they should add in an item you have to get in a few other biomes before allowing you to go to the nether or something.
@@mikematei Yeah, I'll take your Valheim streams as an example, where you had to visit increasingly difficult biomes to gather stuff to make better gear and beat the next boss. Minecraft is one of the very few games I can think of that does not have that kind of progression. Thanks for the reply Mike.
Hey Mike I been following u and James since 2010 i can't believe u finally played through minecraft i been waiting for u to play forever anyways u can respawn the dragon with end crystals

Survival is the right way to play the first time I feel. Your conquest of the land has to be earned and what you build is a monument to all that struggle and effort and time spent learning. You really get to know this weird little virtual world in the process and have stories to tell from it. The second time? It's not quite as magical; I usually go straight to creative mode to work on massive scale stuff.
I lost someone very close to me at the begining of July. These streams and Minecraft in general really helped me through a tough time. Thank you Mike and thank you InspectorGadget.
