There's something about Emet's line of "very well, the victor shall write the tale and the vanquished become its villain" that really gets to me - just this moment of "all questions of moral high grounds are set aside - it's all down to which of us can fight for our ideals harder"
It's just what it is. Emet realizing that they're arguing from the opposite sides of the same coin, trying to save who they love, with all their power (Emet and WoL). There's no definitive right or wrong in this story. Just the winner becomes the history's author.
How do you write a good conflict?
You make two characters whose goals are completely incompatible. You make those goals personal, to the point where they would have to effectivelly *give up who they are* in order to give up their goal. With that kind of set-up, conflict is inevitable. The characters will fight.
Ran'jit wants Minfilia to be safe, no matter what she chooses. Thancred wants her to make her own choices. Even if it means Minfilia will die. Either Minfilia. Their goals are incompatible, and they cannot give it up without breaking who they are.
Hades and the Warrior of Light are fighting for those they love. Their goals are completely incompatible: in order for one of those groups to live, the other group must die. Neither can yeild. The conflict is personal, and inevitable. The music's tone sells it: the Warrior of Light must give it their all in this fight, *because Hades is.*
Trial. By. Combat.
Ardbert at the start: This world has no need for heroes.
Emet-Selch at the end: My world will have no need for heroes.
"This world has had its fill of heroes" "My world will have no need for heroes"
"We Ascians know because it is our history, our story" "This is our future. Our story"
Still get chills every goddamn single time when the theme kicks in
No matter how many times I see someone finish 5.0, no matter how many times I finish 5.0 for an alt, it hits
same. Every time.
Very uniquely and well edited. To my knowledge, probably the only double playthrough that exists anywhere on FFXIV. Cheers to you all.
One that I've seen a few times is Cobrak who played the FFXIV story along with his wife. They took turn reading lines and had a great time together.

15:20 Emet-Selch says "[...] come let us cast aside tiles and pretenses and reveal our true faces to one another". When the battle starts his title card is just Hades. Unlike other bosses that always have some title or subtitle.

Besides, he's HADES. He needs no further introduction.
The theme to Emet's second phase, "Invincible", really sounds like a choir of weeping singers, violins & trumpets friggin screaming their heads off in pain at BGM 100%
It feels like the first time the boss is actually trying to kill us.
Not just "anyone in front of them," actively _trying_ to kill _specifically_ us.
That moment when the WoL actually starts talking, will forever be one of my most favourite moments in entertainment period. Along with the rest of the entire game, ofc - it just stands out so much
I tear up every time when Ardbert passes the axe. I can't help it, man.
"Weary wander... you've no fight left to fight, no life left to live."
That one throwback to the Shadowbringers trailer hits me so hard every time.
Also, Duty Finder is finally canon.
For me that line never really fits but I'm like "Oh I see, he's trying to debuff me!". Nice try Emet little do you know I get the Axe and Guitar buff shortly. My hype cannot be stopped!

Who ever had the idea for putting the channel add after the on stream call out of stalling. You are a genius.
As someone with an Anti-Authoritarian streak, it was incredibly pleasing at the time, and here in the video.

19:25 "I did not have "finish 5.0 tanking alongside JC on my bingo card for today" absolutely killed me for some reason."
25:40 Did you catch what he was saying at the end there? "That Light split the world, and every life upon it." He has so much rage at Hydaelyn for causing the sundering.
7:20 man those cuts to each of your characters is such a chefs kiss!!!
I love that this shows both sides of gameplay and the transitions were good, frankly only thing I love as much as playing through this content is seeing others experience it, it's like reliving that initial moment all over again.

Man I'm so excited for these guys. The game just keeps getting better and better. I'm currently working my way through endwalker for the first time. I'm still of the mind that shadowbringers is the best expansion but endwalker has so much going for it.

This was 1000% the most epic scene in an mmo ever!
IMO, this part before the trial is one of the high moments of Shadowbringers, once Ardbert is there. Another high point...is in the next video.
I got more and more worried about how late it was getting for you guys because the first time I finished 5.0 I couldn't sleep at all LOL. I'm like oh no how will you kids function the next day?? I hope you guys scheduled a vacation day!

The ending of 5.0 is peak ff14, and the best moment in the game for me personally. My only wish is when you are starting to turn and emet taunts you, they actually have ardbert save you while your actually turning, letting you wonder for just a bit omg are they actually gonna make us become a monster, then ardbro saves us as the last second

I just noticed that Hades has actual arms. Those larger ones, with the rod and red highlights, are like extensions of his cloak or something?
One brings shadow and one brings the shade.
this part, hyped me so freaking much, i lost it when i was playing it, too bad i tried ffxiv again a few weeks ago but alone is not the same....
FFXIV has this trend where there is an expansion which blows away expectation followed by one that is around the same level of quality, which has me really excited for the next expansion.
I know this was a year ago but seeing delirium a sitting there not being used in the DRK kit the whole expansion kills me inside
