Making the monsters humans and vice-versa was a pretty good idea on paper. The execution however, not so much. Plus, the writing could've used another draft. Other than that, it's a perfectly good place to end the franchise.

The script definitely needed more work. Maybe if they went with Johnny being Dracula's image of the average Human and fearing that humanity (in the personal form of Johnny) is going to displace monster culture at the hotel, if not everywhere else.
It's been less than 10 years since the first movie, and Dracula has had to change A LOT and FAST. His fear would have been understandable.

But people Johnny make life better, and people love to hate him, because he loves life. The whole point of this movie is that people like Johnny aren't annoying, the people who hate him are. They're kill joys, sticks in the mud, Debby downers, cranky fangs, who don't like new, change, or fun.

@@Amused_Comfort_Inc I completely agree with that. Even though I truly believe Johnny was very relaxed in the first movie, he seems to have lost all his brain cells in the fourth movie. Nevertheless, I would say that Mavis is way too overrated, and Johnny is just unfairly hated for no reason. During the first three movies, I never once thought that Johnny didn't deserve Mavis or that he was worthless compared to her. Most others simply put Mavis on a pedestal without having any real reasons for it.

Can't sing the praises of Brian Hull taking over the voice of Dracula in this one. He's one of my favorite TH-cam entertainers and it's awesome to see him get a shot at a bigger spotlight like this.
