  • bit.ly/357SGZo What happens when you add drops of alcohol inks on a gel plate? Fun and colorful prints! See how in this tutorial- and you'll also see how making 1 little change impacts what the final print looks like! Supply list at bit.ly/357SGZo
I’m Carolyn Dube - a mixed media art adventurer who takes the intimidation out of supplies so that you can find freedom through creativity. Play with every color of the rainbow, avoid rules whenever possible, and let the little kid inside of you free through art.

You can find me designing stencils for StencilGirl Products, teaching in person and online workshops and sharing the message of O.O.P.S. here on TH-cam and on the blog, aColorfulJourney.com
What does O.O.P.S. stand for? It stands for Outstanding Opportunities Presenting Suddenly.
Those “failures” and “mistakes” that we so harshly criticized ourselves about actually became true gifts as soon as you start saying O.O.P.S. Try saying Oops in an angry tone. It makes it even more silly!
I just can’t take myself seriously when I say Oops which is just what I needed to play. I began to play, to have fun, and to embrace all of my “mistakes”.

I love the Marabu alcohol inks and have several bottles of the rainbow sparkle because well, I didn’t want to run out. I had no idea you could use these on the gel plate. Thank you for sharing as I learn so much from you.

Can you drop the alcohol on the plate just like you did but spray isopropyl alcohol on it to get the colors to blend? I was just wondering if the isopropyl alcohol would hurt the gel plate.

    Hello Carolyn,
You have inspired me, to use my alcohol inks, in this fashion.
I truly love the end result and the effect, it creates.
    Thank you.
    The burning question is:
Please could you tell me what a Gel Plate is?
This is the 1day time, that I have the mention of such an art accessory.
    Thank you.
    Regards Vinnie

Gorgeous! I thought I had to use hand-sanitizer with alcohol inks. (Much prefer the defined look and your dreamy variation to the blurred hand-sanitizer look.) This would be gorgeous through a stencil too! Thanks for the inspiration.

I love the rainbow sparkle. I haven’t thought about trying them on my gel plate. What would happen to the gel plate if you added rubbing alcohol to help move it along?? Would it ruin the gel plate?

    • @CarolynDube

I've used rubbing alcohol on mine many times and it hasn't hurt them Lisa.

    I love rainbows too.
hmm. Yeah, that is weird about the "Solar flare". ;) but it's ok. =)
Sparkle .... depends on how "Messy it is"... if it's glitter.... I tend to shy away from it... but if it's shiny stuff that isn't gonna get everywhere..... I love it, and tend to add lots. =)
Those are beautiful pages. =) I think I prefer the more defined drops.... but then again... it depends on what I'd be using it for.... I prefer the dreamy one for a background... but if it were turned into a sundress, or something like that.... I'd prefer the more defined dots.... in other words... I love them both for different reasons. =)

*LOL!* I can't sew either. I can't even get a button to stay on. ;)
They'd make great Figments of imagination critters. =) (I just love that stencil, hopefully one day I'll be able to get that one, and a few others)
