I put one of these on my Strat, which was in need of a new nut after various misadventures in string-gauge changes. I like it a lot. My overall verdict: If your guitar’s nut is working fine, then don’t go out of your way to change it - but if you do need any serious work or a replacement done, then you should absolutely look at this.
Love my Zero Glide Nut equipped guitars! Great product, and really not that hard to install. Eliminates Friction at the nut! Thanks Chris, great vid! Gold Tone Music Group. Titusville, Florida.
I installed a Zeroglide on my Les Paul in June 2014 and I just replaced the fret portion last month (6/2021). It showed a good amount of wear but it does get played a lot. I went with the Stainless Steel one this time so as to match up with the rest of the fret job and for the added benefit of extended wear. Hope this helps!
I can't imagine the material they are using for the fret is nickel. It's probably stainless steel or some other harder metal composite because nickel is way too soft. This was always a problem with zero frets in the past because nickel is soft and would wear out very quickly and become slotted. These newer zero fret don't have that issue.
Definitely going to install one of these. Thanks for the demo.
