These Monkeys Call a Florida Airport Home

There’s a lot of monkeying around happening in Dania Beach, Florida. Non-native monkeys have made the area home, and visitors get to enjoy these adorable local celebrities. They’ve lived in a preserve next to Fort Lauderdale's international airport since 1940. Usually, Florida wildlife officials kill invasive species to protect native animals, but they tolerate the vervet. And the Dania Beach Vervet Project is working hard to keep them safe. Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall has more.

I remember being at the airport, and cleaning my car out. No soon that I dusted the popcorn off the seat, the next thing I see when I turn around is this raccon standing next to me grabbing. Scared the hell outta me 🤣

We actually have three monkey species with colonies here in Florida. Green Monkeys (video is about) in Dania Beach, Squirrel monkeys at a park in Ft. Lauderdale, and Rhesus Macaques at Silver Springs.
