I watched Edey go up against Cligan in the tourney, and he balled. Held his own easily, and even dominated at times. Raps need bigs off the bench. And back-up PG.
I agree, we should really just take Edey as he dominated against Clingan. He can start off on the bench for us and develop from there.

This is why I wasn't crying about losing the lottery pick because I wanted Zach Edey anyways, and our draft pick range is perfect to take him at 19 or 31. I really hope nobody snatches him up before us. I think he could be better than Clingan as a pro.

I have a feeling he will be drafted before 19th. If used properly in the right system he’s going to be a problem from day 1 in the NBA. He has too much upside in a weak draft for some team not to take a chance on him early in the 1st round. I wouldn’t be mad if the Raptors took him at 19th if he’s available as I think he could fit their system.
nah if you see the players in front of edey at tankathon mock draft he wont go higher. the guys after 19 are basically tier 3-4 prospects.
He will be a very intimidating player in the NBA. If he goes to 76ers it will be lights out. He would be center while Embid plays the 4. Raps need to have his agent saying he will play for the raps only. There will be no Hack-a-Zack with this guy
Yep, he shoots free throws pretty good too for a man his size, so Raps have to get him. I don't want any of our rivals to have him for the next 10-15 years.

What's shocking is that some people have Edey going in the 20's and have Clingan a top 3 pick.
SA (#8), Mem (#9), Utah (#10), OCK (#12), Mia (#15) are all real possibilities for Zach Edey. Raps will most likely have to trade up to get him. Kel'el Ware is a prospect I hope is available at #19. He reminds me of a Dereck Lively rim runner/rim protector type with the added ability to step out and make 3s. Lot's of info coming out about draft prospect real measurements from the combine. A lot of prospects are 2-3 inches shorter than advertised especially among the guards.

nah if you look at all the players ahead of edey on tankathon mock draft edey really wont go ahead of them at 18. after 19 its all tier 3-4 prospects. you look at koloko , scouts didnt really change their minds after he shot like 15 of 25 at the 3 pt shooting contest. edey will go in the 20-30 range. spurs have wemby, utah has kessler, okc has chet, miami has bam. edey if he can shoot the 3 is better than kel el ware. ware is in the 20-30 range.
@@giovanni-ed7zq Both Edey and Ware will both go before #20. Most likely in the mid teens. It's all Tier 3 prospect to start the 2024 draft... Sarr and company are all below the average Tier 2 draft prospects. If Sarr came out in 2023 he might not go top 10. Most definitely not top 5 in 2023.
@@IceManLikeGervin i think sarr and richie are tier 1 although end of tier 1 if they went in 2025 they probably go 4-6 still with another year of development. have to see, i think edey moves up, i dont think ware is gonna go before 20. ware had a bad combine as well. also questions about his motor and he is young.

To be competitive you have to have two good bigs. They are always getting injured and with out defence under the net you are screwed. Remember how good we were with Gasol and Ibaka.

I can tell people really didn't watch Zach Edey in college, people got so caught up on the speed of today's game, but they don't really the slow players like Jokic and Embiid still dictate a slower pace. I think the league is turning back into traditional big men anyways, and not stretch bigs. This will be a home run pick for the Raps, and maybe even a steal since he's not a lottery pick.
As a scout my self my draft recommendation for teams is to draft a player no matter if he 4"5 inches or 10" feet tall as long as you are elite in one thing in basketball and its a team need I'm calling ur name, what I'm saying is if my team lacks rebounding and it's between a 5"10 guard or a 7"4 center if the guard rebounding is more elite than the center u know the name u need to call l

doubtful edey goes before 18, they all have more offensive upsided than edey. end of the day kokoko was 3rd in the 3 pt shooting contest at draft combine and he still went 2nd round and scouts just wrote it off as a hot day in shooting and nothing more.

It's funny how so call scouts always get it wrong, question how good was shaq grading the pick and roll vs quick guards, edey in my books is a # 1 draft pick, the size the tuch the defense is all elite, ball players don't get credit no more for what they're good at and every team needs someone that is elite at some part of the game, simple Rodman rebounds Jordan 50 scottie pippen defensive Kerr 3point shooting can u imagine a assist getter on that bulls team, if I'm the spurs I take edey 4th and get the best available point guard at 8th, we're talking chip next season
I'd be shocked if he's still there at 31, but hey if he is then getting him there is a major steal. I'd take him at 19 because the teams behind us are playoff teams that need a center, so I would go on ahead and get him at 19.

nah darko basically won useless games against bucks and wizards, and in the game that counted against pacers, darko rested IQ and Gradey and lost the game turning the 15th pick into the 19th pick.
darko finds a way to lose for the raptors even when the season has been over for a month.
Only teams I want edey on are the Raps or spurs any other team I'll be chapped tbh I like the line ups with him in. Not a spurs fan but him and wemby would be solid

I'm really intrigued by him. The Raptors did state that they're targeting another SG. Getting Edey would almost certainly guarantee that we don't see Poeltl in our future. We have a sense of direction now compared to last season, now it's to hone in on each players skills!

Edey is a top 10 pick, all the way. His upside is that he might be a franchise player.

Rather get Chomche with the 1st. He's already complete (even if raw af) and barely 18YO. I think if he's available we'll take him since its the kind of guy Masai loves

We should under no circumstances draft Zach. I think his skill set will translate offense. I'm not worried about how slow he is, but I am worried about his defensive IQ which often has him not paying attention on defense. He blocks out unlike many NBA players so that is a plus. Some of this can be taught. My major concern is that he has 0 motor and his effort is non-existent at times. That is a problem in the NBA.
0 motor? He took a total of 2 minutes brake in 2 games combined. His motor is actually what he is known for. He paced himself because of the minutes played and people are mistaken it for speed when he knew how to pace himself to be able to play all those minutes.

Most ppl that talk basketball never play basketball, if they did they would know that u need a elite player not at all positions but a elite player who is elite at what he does so scouting is easy it's all about what you looking for y do u think u have badges in 2k u think because u have 12 elite scorers on ur team ur going to win what if the other team have 8 elite defender 2 elite scorers 1elite passer and 1 elite shooter, I don't even have to ask who win that game

nah from 20-30 its all slim pickings and 2-4 year projects so taking edey at 19 isnt bad. other than dunn at 31, all of them are horrible defenders, or low volume 3 pt shooters that likely not translate to nba.

go look at the mock drafts, its slim pickings for what you are wanting from 20-30. they all 3-4 year projects from 20-30. this years 20-30 is like early 2nd round because the 2nd rounders pulled out of 2023 so they could go 1st round in 2024.
the ones that look like they are decent 3 pt shooters from 20-30 are all low volume so they likely not shooting that 30 percent even or worse.
the pg are all undersized unatheletic pg in the 20-30 range also.
the only wing defender that can defend is likely ryan dunn and he is slotted at 31.
tyler smith is a low volume 3 pt shooter so you cant even say he shoots 36 percent at nba, and tyler smith is a horrible defender who cant guard his shadow.

you look at 1-18, its doubtful edey goes ahead of those guys. nba scouts will just chalk edey 3 pt shooting at combine as lucky day like koloko coming 2nd in 3 pt shooting contest at combine.
I think people should look at those prospects you posted at 7:14 and ask themselves: "can Zach contribute to the NBA better than any of those prospects?"
especially Ware, Dunn, da silva, and smith before making definitive statements.
ware is a low volume 3 pt shooter so dunno if he can shoot the 3 at nba in volume. da silva also low volume 3 pt shooter and horrible defender, smith is a low volume 3 pt shooter in gleague and horrible defender.
Interesting. That’s not the assessment I’ve seen online about those 3. Ware doesn’t shoot the 3, he’s more like a Derrick lively type big. Good interior defender and great foot work and can score around the basket at a high level. Da Silva is a good defender and has the tools to be a one in the nba. Size and shooting is good too. Smith is raw, but his size and his defensive ability and upside is pretty good. Especially at the 19th pick, this is what you will see. Even Ryan Dunn is a lock down defender, but offensively challenged. These guys also cannot create shots for themselves.
@@AndreLindo really man, go look at games ware played against big decent centers in college. da silva is soft and his 3 pt shooting is on low volume, and his defence is not good. tyler smith plays zero defence and his 3 pt shooting is on low volume. ryan dunn is the best defender in college but is really offensively raw. coming out of college you dont expect players to create their own shots unless they are in the top 5 of lottery and then its not guaranteed. in a strong draft maybe the top 3 can create their own shots in nba because there ball handling is good enough to do so.

@@AndreLindo my thoughts is this years draft is so weak it has a 4th tier in the 1st round. that 4th tier is 2nd rounders that pulled out of 2023 draft to go 1st round in 2024. once you looking at 20-30 they basically 2nd rounders that are gonna take 2-4 years to develop if they do. so if no one else there that raptors like, taking zach at 19 isnt a bad choice since they are all projects and likely only bench players as their ceiling.
Zach will be long gone before the Raps pick. This kid has proved everyone wrong at every level and it will be the same thing at this level. Super high character kid who has made himself the best player in college and he'll improve to be a top player in the NBA. The mobility thing is a red herring. Jokic is the best player in the world and he's not exactly Spiderman.

The NBA has had a really horrible attitude towards him and it is wrong. He is the MVP of the Div 1 for two years in a row. In with the same names of basketball greats. He will be outstanding. It will be another miracle if he is available when we have our selection. I predict he will possibly go as high as top 5. Imagine him and Webemyami playing together. Case closed.

Day one of the combine is just about drills when nobody is guarding anybody but this doesn’t answer the foot speed/mobility questions which is his biggest weakness. Have you seen Jakob in warm up ? He’s nailing jump shots when nobody is guarding him but can he do it during games ? 🤔 I’m not buying the Edey hype and I’m praying to god some foolish GM take’s him before we pick. Edey gives me Shawn Bradley vibes. Same huge player that was over 7’4, slow footed and robotic. I’m not buying it! He’s slower than JV and JV had his issues guarding the pick and roll because of his slow foot so just image Edey. Gasol was slow footed but was great with using his body and hands. The same can be said about Jokic who great at using his hand and his basketball IQ is out of this world.. Edey hasn’t shown us any of that on the defensive end other than his ability to block shots which is related to his size. Shawn Bradley was 7’6 and a monster coming out of high school and college. He was drafted 2nd in the draft but What happened in the NBA ? He got put in a blender night in, night out. Imagine Edey guarding Wemby who is going to pull him out to the 3 point. Slushy time! We need a Mobile big that can run with Quickley and not a slow footed player just because he’s Canadian and big.
Uhh there multi drills in the combine that access footwork and lateral movement. wtf are you talking about. Some would argue scrimmages mean nothing and it part of the problem with American basketball compared to European too many scrimmages not enough real practice and skill development. Probably why several of the top picks in this draft come from Europe. Edey actually looked decent in the foot work and lateral movement drills. He’s been doing a lot of stuff beside sarr and honestly doesn’t look much different in terms of mobility.
Kelel Ware is the best prospect at 19 he blocks shots runs like a gazelle and shoots the 3, great Koloko replacement.😢
@@AlSemzpeople don’t actually watch. They repeat the popular narrative out there. I watched him from last season to now… huge improvements in almost every facet. Also his fundamentals are sound. He boxes out well- a missing skill in today’s nba, sets proper screens (another missing skill), is a rebounding machine and has mastered his hook shot. He can shoot the 3 too but the system he was in, they had him a paint anchor in and wasn’t able to shoot the 3.

from 20-30 there isnt really a center that can guard and shoot. the ones that look like they can shoot are all low volume 3 pt shooter in college which doesnt mean much, and they are not good defenders. even kel el ware, he only did well in games where the other team had no center that was big. against big centers kel el ware dissapeared in those games.
