As someone who's been in S rank for the past 6 months, the meta might have changed since you last checked it out. I'd hazard a guess that only around 1% of S-ranks can do a sub-40 sprint. I often look at the stats of my opponent after my games, and they usually have a slower sprint record than me (mine is 43 seconds). Like 95% of players in this rank stack at a speed of under 1.8 PPS, and the ones who don't are either opener mains who haven't figured out how to do midgame or striders who don't pay attention to comboing or B2B, but can downstack fast enough to defend typical S-rank attacks. Also I see SDPC waaaay more often than stickspin now.
I have never seen a sprint from a player under u rank faster than my sprint of 35 seconds, and still these Koreans eat 100 apm like it's nothing and it's so frustrating I don't know what to do

sdpc is for people who want to clown on stickspin but cant think of any other way to counterspike their opponents to oblivion. in the end it really only comes down to how you want to handle residue but if you want to use psychological warfare instead of a real opener like tki or gamushiro then I just crank out the 14 line stickspin loop
Sub 50 sprint for an A+ means you should not be an A+. Maybe work on downstacking or not misdropping if that's what's keeping you from reaching the next rank.
I'm S+ and still haven't crossed sub 50.(i also range between 1.3 and 1.5 avg pps for tl stats) so yeah you do have the potential to place fast, it's just about efficiency
I'm at 1:06 and I'm at A rank. I can play as fast as 1.6pps but have gotten to 1.7 one time, but then my efficiency is bad so I only do that in 40 lines mode. Usually, I play between 1.0-1.3
How you described B and U rank perfectly matches me as an S rank 💀 (this is probably gonna be along comment but whatever)... I started playing the game when my friends introduced me into tetrio back in early 2023 and I was trash, I was losing every round. But I got better solely off the motivation on destroying my friends... And so I did. In a span of only a month I learned openers, t-spins, and got into s- rank and I was too good for my friends so they just stopped playing tetris (I feel bad)... So after that, I just practiced on 40L by myself practicing stacking and openers for like 10 months. And then like a month ago I decided, why not try tetra league again and so I did... I usually destroyed everyone with just the opener so I easily got to S+... But that's when I started having to do midgame which I was VERY bad at and kept losing so I went down to S... Now I'm hardstuck in S since then and I get queue anxiety from the fear of getting a lower rank again...
As an A+ rank, I: - Know how to stack properly, and am able to fix my stack when necessary. - Have a complete opener repertoire that covers all first bags (and no, I don't just use MS2). - Know how to set up midgame TSTs, C-Spins and DT Cannons (although quite rarely) - Know how to use basic donation techniques like Kaidans Pretty much the only reason why I am A+ and not U is because my PPS is about 0.9.

here i am stuck in S- rank coz of detrimental missdrops in my opening, being able to downstack faster than my opponent can attack me is what helps me stay in S- rank, also i see people doing MS2 and MS3 over SDPC and Stickspin these days.
I at least maintain that when I was S+ I was still aware of how shit i was. I won most of my games off of PCO-2ndPC and SS-low U level speed. I misdropped a lot, didnt have many good tspin setups, and my midgame was just set up I-wells and pray. Now Im washed, barely good enough to be S-. My speed is still there, along with my knowlege of PCO and 2ndPC (for some setups), but i can never maintain it, and while im better with Tspins, my flow I had is just gone. Its gonna take a lot for me to get back into the game, but im happy with where I ended up.

SS Rank here, and i made it With mid game fundies, but it's pretty accurate that a good amount of players relies only on Stickspin, after that they have nothing and it's pretty easy to fuck them up

2 years ago, i used only 9-0 stacking and got the U rank lul, no t-spin or something... just play fast enough to win 💀 now i'm still U because i didn't play and practice too much, but found out that U rank rn look a lit weaker than U rank that day (or it just me git gud 🤯🤯)
