You’re talking specifically about a jam during press coverage. Theres other techniques on press coverage that doesn’t include contact at the line (mirror technique for one). Press just means you’re right up on the WR vs off-man or dropping into a zone.

It’s one of the primary uses of press coverage, to slow down receivers routes and mess with the route timing so the pass rushers can sack the qb or force the qb into a bad throw.

The Cina route is not a bad route in press man for short yardage (tho, it'll never look like this with a DB putting the paws on you). Had a WR run hat on me in college.... I played it well but a perfect throw could've been completed. I actually pressed the guy and the QB threw it to a spot and the WR was late getting there as I disrupted the route LIKE PRESS DBs suppose too.

The Dig is just a In Route with a hesitation, China Route is a Zig route with just a juke move in it, Slant is the Best in my opinion
