    This video instantly reminded me of the pre-peeled mandarins wrapped in plastic bags by Whole Foods Market which eventually were removed from their shelves after a tweet reading: "If only nature would find a way to cover these oranges so we didn't have to waste so much plastic on them" went viral.

      Thanks for sharing this point, that's interesting, I never seen this tweet which caused such a change! Clearly not in Japan... YET!

    Please don't forget that Japan is a very humid country (especially during the summer) and especially cookies / rice crackers go bad QUICK.
    Even if you try to reseal the package with rubber bands and similar, the moist will often find its way in and ruin the product.
    Therefore, it's best to individually wrap snacks from the get-go!

      And look into some desiccant materials, especially food-safe ones.

      Thanks for your comment, this is a really good point which I didn't really consider!
      You're right, it does get super humid here, like today, so now it makes more sense why they're individually wrapped! Thanks for the insight!! 👍

    When you mentioned about the service staff, I totally agree with u. In the West people don’t really look down on customer service jobs like they do in Asia. When I went to the US, service staff were more chilled and would talk to us like a friend. Wish it was something like that in Asia. I’m from Thailand btw

    • @taiseikikuta

      Thanks for the insights from Thailand! I used to live there a long time ago btw!
      Are customer service staff in Thailand also very strict like Japan? As you say, I imagine in the US people are more chill!

      @@taiseikikuta Since I’ve also been to Japan, I would say service staff in Japan are more well trained, as far as I know Japan is more of a perfectionist society compared to Thailand. Thailand service staff are more chilled compared to Japan. It’s just that Thai customers demand more stuff and I do imagine customers in Japan do demand a lot of stuff too as you mentioned in the video. I guess customers demanding a lot of stuff is probably an Asian thing😂. Btw, where about did u live in Thailand?

    I think the most inconvienient thing about Japan might be finding an apartment. You need an guarantor to find an apartment, and also you need to pay a bucnh of bs extra fees, and also some owners don't want to rent to foreigners.

    • @taiseikikuta
      @taiseikikuta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh yes... Finding an apartment... I haven't had to experience that... YET, but probably will soon. I know it's way more annoying if you're a foreigner! Luckily I've got friends, some of which are foreigners who've managed to get through this process, so if they can do it, I know I can!

    • @NewData-ly4ck
      @NewData-ly4ck 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@taiseikikuta I think they get through this by paying more money. I heard that if you don't have a guarantor, you need to pay for a company to be your guarantor. I don't like this guarantor thing at all, they shouldn't have another person be responsible for an adult's action.

    Individually wrapped items are good for sharing and for keeping things fresh in a very very humid country ---though maybe wrapping produce at the supermarket can be a bit much... ;)

    When people talk about "cozy European cities" they probably forget that even major European capitals are not as big and crowded as Tokyo. If you take Moscow though, it's different, because it's big and densely populated
