President Rodrigo Roa Duterte talked to the troops and officers of the Philippine Army’s (PA) 6th Infantry Division (6ID) about the problems that his administration is facing, such as the rebel groups, Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), and the war against illegal drugs, in a speech at Camp BGen. Gonzalo H Siongco in Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.
The President reiterated his willingness to resign in three to four years within his presidency if peace with the CPP and Muslim rebel groups is achieved.
He also talked about his promise to purchase modern medical equipment for the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center (AFPMC) in Quezon City, and to have the Presidential jet retrofitted to serve as an air ambulance.
And to further give service to the Filipino troops, President Duterte said that the increase in the soldiers’ wages would commence from August to December. He also asked the AFP officers to create an office dedicated to ensuring that bereaved families of soldiers who are killed-in-action (KIA) would receive proper compensation in a timely manner.
He added that the Philippine National Police (PNP) should also make an effort to do the same to the bereaved families of fallen police officers.
“In my time and during my time you will have everything you’d need,” President Duterte said amidst applause from the 6ID troops.
He ended, “I’d like to be very…honest and very…frank with you, this will be a clean government. Kung magpakamatay kayo sa bayan na ito, you should be proud. In my time there will be no corruption at all. I will not allow it.”
