This bike sounds great now. I could never drive this. It is too smooth and luxurious. I am used to constant problems...lol. Enjoy the fruits of your labor! God Bless.
So glad for you it turned out for the better. Amazing you found and replaced the engine within a week, commend your skills and hard work. Enjoy your ride
Thank you, yeah, fortunately for me I was still on vacation and had the time to do it. I'm glad the company Bores cycle shipped the engine so quick as well. If it wasn't for them, I would have had to wait until the next week when I returned to work and who knows how much longer it would have been. Thanks
That is such a shame someone must have done something to the motor for that to happen I have a 2015 concours c14 and I have a friend with a fjr1300 and they both seem like bulletproof motors. I’m glad you were able to get a decent motor and swap it out that would have cost a fortune at a bike shop. I just ordered a kpm200 when it comes time for maintenance I’ll be reviewing your videos thanks for posting all that information 👍🏻
@@morecowbell169 Yeah I believe they are pretty much bulletproof engines, I really like the c14 and that probably would have been the bike I bought if I found a good one at the time I was looking. I really like my Kpm, it is a great around town bike and occasional highway bike. I hope you enjoy yours! You’re welcome!
Nice!! I mean real Nice!. It's truly Awesome to see a something like this go from catastrophe back to badass again like like this and have it all so well documented like you have done here. Amazing recovery!. It's quite an inspiration and a mega Source of encouragement to keep on keeping on. Thanks For all you do and for sharing it all.
I am so happy for you Herbie! This video had me grinning from ear-to-ear. As you said, the FJR is a special bike. To me, It's kind of like all the girls you dated before you found the "one". Well, for me, that is the FJR 🥰 Enjoy that bike...I know you will!
Great video! Got my hands on a 2023 FJR ES in April with 900 miles on it. I absolutely love this machine. It's now my main ride over my gl1800 and my Harley Ultra Limited Low. Getting ready for a long trip very soon.
@@stillanoldman Wow, you’ve got some nice bikes!! I like all 3 of those bikes, but yeah the Fjr is just an amazing machine and with you getting the newer model it will come with all the goodies. Enjoy your trip, that’s what it’s all about! Thank you by the way 👍🏻
@@MrBluoct It does have very good protection, I really like that I can adjust it on the fly. I’ve never had that feature before 😄 Just wondering your thoughts on the audio, did it sound okay? I still need to make improvements I’m sure.
Yes, I needed to do the sync because they are 2 different engines, and the vacuum pulses might not be the same and I adjusted the throttle bodies to the old engine when it had a problem with #2 cylinder so it would definitely be different on this engine. Honestly, I can't tell a difference with the wrap. I might try to put an aluminized duct tape over it as a trial.
I’ve been recently looking at these bikes as a commuter. I commute 40 miles each way 30 of it being highway. What about a 2016 fjr1300a with 25k miles for $9998? Good deal or not? It has (crash) rollbars and an aftermarket seat, as well as the stock saddlebags. Looks to be well taken care of.
@@motorcyclemichael2182 That sounds a little on the high end to me. With that price It’s probably at a dealer, and you’ll have to pay full sales tax also. I would check the Fjr owners forum for used bikes. Sometimes there is great deals on there and just might find something close to you at a great price. But if you were really wanting the 2016 model you looked at, I would offer $8000, I think that’s a fair offer, of course condition is everything. The 2016 is the first year ( if I remember correctly) of the 6 speed transmission and they had some issues that had to be fixed for the first couple of years. Yamaha had warranty the problem, I don’t know if they still honor that though. That’s the main reason I was considering a 2014 or 2015. Those bikes still had the 5 speed but a lot of the new goodies. Sorry for the long winded response, I would love to have a nice 3rd generation fjr myself. Good luck with your search! 👍🏻

Yes it does, I thought maybe it was a weight issue causing it but I guess it’s just part of the bikes nature. Like you say it’s very tiny and not noticeable unless you let go of the bars.
About 37k miles, I believe the previous owner messed something up on a valve adjustment or changing the cct that caused the problem. These are good engines and should last well over 100k miles
On another note, I noticed that you parked the FJR in neutral and put the stand down. I'm sure that you are aware that the FJR has a neutral safety switch, so if you put the stand down with the clutch engaged and in gear the bike will shut off and then you turn the key off. I always park mine in gear with the stand down...I parked it one time in neutral and put the stand down on a slight incline and it rolled off of the stand and hit the ground. Stupid mistake on my end. I am sure that you were already aware of the safety switch, just wanted to pass it along. That thing is bi*#h to pick up 😳😵
