Journey is a video game developed by Thatgamecompany exclusively for the PlayStation 3 and which is distributed on the PlayStation Network. The game features the player as a robed figure in a vast desert, journeying towards a mountain in the distance. Along the way the player can meet other players on the same journey; the two players can assist each other, but cannot communicate via speech or text and are not shown each others' names until after completion. The game was released on March 7, 2012 for PlayStation Plus subscribers, and was fully released on March 13. It has been met with significant critical acclaim. Journey is the last game made under a three game contract between Thatgamecompany and Sony, the first two being Flow and Flower.

I don't think so. Without the beautiful moving red/white dot catch your eyes, the simplified background is kinda bland; it's all about balance.
The flute solo here is wonderful. I love how airy and playful it is, it perfectly complements the sense of freedom you have sandsurfing through this section of the game.

This was always my favorite part of Journey.
My first time playing, my companion and I wove around each other as we slid through the sand. He led me to the glowing symbols, and we chirped and sang to one another as we played.
Then we came to the panoramic view of the sun setting behind the ruins, and my jaw dropped.
To me, this game is so amazing because of the message it sends: the journey is what's important, not the result. Just look at the people in the game; they went too far and too fast in their lust for power, and they lost everything for it. All this means is: take your bloody time. The result can wait, it's how you get there that matters.
This is and Apotheosis are my two favourite tracks. This one is so cheerful and energetic. Perfect for essay writing.

This sand-surfing sequence was THE best moment of gaming, and I don't care who says otherwise.

Action packed games are dime a dozen, can hardly find a game without it these days, then you have jewels like this, it that has little action, and yet it has some of the best gameplay I have seen in a game in over a decade.
That Game Company, I implore you, NEVER fall victim to coorprate greed, just keep making your games your way, so that we can have another one of your masterpieces in the future.
The first time I heard this song and saw this part of the game was via someone's playthrough, and I thought it was amazing. Years later, I finally got the chance to play the game myself, and so many things came rushing back to me.
I had seen it before, but playing myself was beautiful. I had met someone along the way, and we were chirping back and forth, weaving around each other, I won't forget it. They stayed with me the rest of our journey. :)
The panoramic view of the sun through the pillars will always be my favourite part, since it reminded me of a story my dad and I were writing when I was a little kid. He's gone now, but I'm going to find the notebook he put our pages in and rewrite it.

If I could, I would spend a good 10 hours just replaying this part and just this part, over and over again.
This part of the game makes me tear up so much.. pure bliss.. it's amazing even on PS3 you see the sunset shining off the sand

I like how you hear an altered version of the main theme at 2:43. It brings the same theme (as in feel), but it also brings something different to go with the key that it is in. It’s an interesting choice! 👍

After listening to the OST non stop on TH-cam since finishing this game only a few days ago I feel it is almost a duty for me to buy it. It is perfect for the game and easy to listen to. Also everybody has the same memory of sliding down the sand with their "friend" and seeing a bright horizon off in the distance... This part of the game is possibly my favourite, I thought it was very symbolic.
It's moments like these that I just smile and play silently, wishing that a world like this existed.
It's one of the reasons I love video games so much.

The natural rhythmic freedom between 2/8 and 3/8 Austin accomplished makes me so jealous 😖 Most composers can only dream of nailing something like this without it sounding completely overbearing

Journey is not one of those games you play once and then shelve it for ever. I wish more games had the same kind of replayability that this game demonstrates.

They are my favourites too, Apotheosis is so strong and dramatic but also kind of quiet and gentle

I admit, I do look at my alerts every once in a while to make sure I haven't missed a message or two!
It's really the flute. If you check out Austin Wintory's official commentary on his channel, it's the flute playing E#. It took a while for him to realize that it sounded exactly like a Mail alert. It was edited out of the final version.

I agree, probably my 20th time playing it after just buying it a few weeks ago.
I don't have this game, cause I just have a PC, and no console, but I watch this on You Tube and I must say the golden sun is just amazing on the sand. Just beautiful. I can't think of any other game that could beat this. The music is just as beautiful as well. :)

I was debating whether or not to get a PS3 but then ran across a Journey demo at a nearby electronics store and then I knew I had to get a PS3 just for this game. I HIGHLY recommend getting it. It's worth every cent.
