    Thanks for sharing,I’m having a problem installing El Capitan from dvd disc over 10.8.5 as I can’t get into the App Store and get a message saying to update your browsers I can’t do that either I wonder is there a way to not need to go into the App Store.

      Unfortunately, Apple requires it from the apple store now. What you can do is find a friend that can download it as it is a free download and copy the downloaded filed which will be in the Applications folder to a USB drive and put that USB drive into your computer with the downloaded files.

      @@TachibanaTech Thanks for the info I actually have a newer iMac myself Late 2015 running Mac OS Monterey but not sure if I can get it on this what version of Mac would a friend have to have to download it for me.

    I'm hoping you can give me some advice... my mid-2012 Macbook Pro crapped out on me last Friday; I got one of those "prohibited" (circle with a backslash through the middle of it = Like the GHOSTBUSTERS logo) on a white/grey screen. I was freaking out as some ppl said my OS was screwed... sure enough, the computer would NOT boot-up properly.
    So I bought a brand new external HD (took a few days to arrive) then used Time Machine to restore my OS -- Great success!!! I am very relieved to find that none of my files were lost since the "back-up" was done quite recently.
    BUT, is it true that the computer will not operate on its own (without the ext HD connected) at this point?
    I'm assuming that my device's (mid-2012 Macbook Pro) hard drive is now blank, right?
    My OS is on my new ext HD instead of on my MBP device.... So, how do I return it to my MBP?
    In other words, does your video (above) apply to my needs?
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated... Cheers!

    • @TachibanaTech
      @TachibanaTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you restored from the external via Time Machine to the internal drive, then it should be just fine to disconnect. However if you used a separate drive and restored to the external as if the external was internal to the MacBook Pro then yes separating the external would not let the laptop boot. Thankfully replacing the internal harddrive on that years model was not super difficult and you can put the restored drive that is inside the external drive in place of the internal drive that started the error in the first place. Without seeing the SMART stats on the internal drive I can only assume that it has bad sectors and if it is an original drive it would be starting to show its age.

    • @RedAlEarttDramaMeanWhoDat
      @RedAlEarttDramaMeanWhoDat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TachibanaTech -- Wait, I'm confused... are you suggesting that I replace the actual internal HD? That's not an option. I have no access to the Apple Store in my area and there are no trusty, independent computer technicians where I live.
      What I am hoping to do is transfer the OS info i.e. all of the folders that appear on my external HD where the OS is currently located (Is that how it works?) to my actual laptop device so I don't have to have the external HD plugged-in to boot the laptop.
      Please advise how to proceed... thank you!

      Where do I save all of the OS stuff (from the external HD) onto my device (Macbook Pro)? Do I just leave it on the desktop of the laptop?

      @@TachibanaTech When I boot the laptop from the external HD.... as the OS begins to boot, it says the disk is not readable -- it asks me if I want to "Ignore" or "Initialize" or (something else, I can't remember).
      So far, I've been "ignoring" -- should I "initialize"?

    • @TachibanaTech
      @TachibanaTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be getting the macOS Recovery when you press Command - R, are you able to get to the recovery screen? If you have an M1 Mac Apple has changed the process to get to the recovery screen.

    My Mac requires the old user’s Apple ID to restore the factory OS. There are no exceptions, and no work arounds. If you don’t enter the old Apple ID, you cannot go forward with the restore.

    • @TachibanaTech
      @TachibanaTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The way we do the restore in the video does a clean wipe on the hard drive so it would never boot to look for an Apple ID. If the Mac is locked via an account lock from the Apple find my service the Mac is locked in the firmware and it will be impossible to get around that by design.

    • @TachibanaTech
      @TachibanaTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is the error that is happening? I do know that the Mac recovery software tries to get recovery files from the internet so you may want to ensure that your Mac that is in recovery can access the internet.

    For me it asks apple id ? Do you have any solution sir ?

    • @TachibanaTech
      @TachibanaTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it asks for an Apple ID at the recovery screen the Mac may be locked via iCloud. If that is the case there is no way around that unfortunately.

    Won’t erase WDC Wd10EZRX that was above Macintosh -what do I do now.?

    • @TachibanaTech
      @TachibanaTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible that the drive was formatted in a way that MacOS does not understand and may need to be completely wiped all the way down to the file system. Apple has recently been enforcing the APFS file system over the HFS+ file system outside of this issue there should not be a reason that it is unable to wipe a drive as the partition tool can delete even encrypted drives.

    • @TachibanaTech
      @TachibanaTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check out this link by Apple just to double check that this is the icon showing up on screen support.apple.com/en-us/HT204323 they also have four steps to help diagnose the issue. Noises could potentially mean the harddrive may be faulty or going faulty especially if it is a mechanical drive.

      If you have the M1 MacBook Air this tutorial is not valid as stated in the description, however if you are indeed using an Intel Macbook Air I will supply the link to Apple's own documentation on steps to troubleshoot why it is not working. I wish you luck!

      You may try the Windows key on left of the space bar, or alt. I have done it with a non Apple Keyboard before so there may be some trial and error to see which key it thinks is the command key.
